Most of my bearing work is on my boat trailers and small utility trailers. The boats trailers get dipped in salt water several times a year but my spindles are the kind with the Zerk on the end that channels new grease to the back and pushes old grease out the front so they get flushed when needed without removing the bearings.
Nevertheless every so often I have to disassemble or replace bearings and have always done the packing by hand. I see that Adv. Auto has Lisle and KD bearing packer tubs,
Lisle,
KD
The KD looks more substantial, any real difference between the two?
Also, the grease I use for boat trailer bearings is Schaeffer 274 Moly EP. This stuff stays put, doesn't washout, really the best for bearings that get dipped. It's pump-able but it's the consistency of cold peanut butter, will a bearing packer function with such a thick grease?
thanks,
Rob
