Bed Liner on Cabinet Doors

I am wondering if anyone has tried spraying a 24 gauge cabinet with bed liner. I have some free cabinets that I received, the paint needs to get cleaned up a bit, and they are lower gauge cabinets, but I wonder if I refinish in bed liner, will it add additional strength, or will the weight of the new surface do the opposite. Anyone try anything like this before?

Theres a guy selling a nice Knaack workbench/station/cabinet thing on CL near me.

I've always liked this particular bench, but he coated it with bed liner and it looks like ****!

Maybe if he did a good job it might be ok, but to me, he ruined a nice tool.

As an installer of spray in bedliners, I’m in the camp of bedline everything lol. If you use a quality product it can add some strength but keep in mind if you have really **** hinges it could cause future issues. I’ve sprayed bedliner on service bodies and not had any issues, that’s the closest thing I’ve sprayed to a cabinet, which really isn’t the best example. I’ve had a few customers ask about doing toolboxes but haven’t had a bite yet, been on the lookout for a cheap one to do myself just to use as an example for my products and maybe later donate or raffle it off.

Back on track, the cabinets are free, bedliner is cheap, it doesn’t take all that much talent to shoot, just make sure you prep properly and I believe you will be golden.

Curious - has anyone ever tried spraying the bottom of kitchen drawers and cabinet shelves with bed liner vs. using shelving liner? Thoughts?

Doubt you'd want to do that in a kitchen. The smell from the off gassing would be like Harbor Freight on a hot day :) I guess if you sprayed and then waited a couple weeks before install? Plus the texture would be harder to keep clean, even if just orange peel?

Bedliner would be a PIA to clean unless you can hose it down. It would add the same strength as a coat of paint, almost nothing
