Here's the coolest one I've seen. Trying to find one, but I'll
probably have to make it myself...

E.C. Emmerich is a German woodworking tool maker. They
make the nicest wooden planes. Can't afford the ones I want
of course!

Re: Let's see your bottle openers

I'm dying to find one of the Snap on openers. Haven't found them on eBay the couple of times I've checked. I also wouldn't mind having one of those Matco openers if the price is right.

I only have the Craftsman 44500. I actually like it a lot, nice and hefty. Iirc it was marked $15 on the shelf and rang up for $4.99 at the register at Sears Hardware.

Here is my keychain opener...
I got the idea off this board from some other GJ'er.

I had an old 5/8 masonry bit that was toast so I put the grinder to it, spend a little time with a file + drill press for the hole and viola.

Found it at my grandfathers house. Assuming it's early to mid 70s. fc56003ccc5fe73dbabcffc2c4199e65.jpg

One thru three in the garage, four at the bottom of the basement steps near the spare fridge (beverage storage), five and six in the basement workshop near the "main bench", and 7 on the peg board by the old tool section....

Re: Let's see your bottle openers

I have the Holy Grail.....

The cast iron Connecting Rod Bottle Opener from GM Research.

My father retired from GM Research Labs in Warren MI. They gave these away at their 1976 Open House.

I grew up with that Conn Rod opener always in my Mothers kitchen drawer.

For my career, I spent 20+ years designing engines for Ford. Engines and cars are my passion. I always wanted that opener, but it was lost for years.

After my father passed away, I found this cleaning his tool box. I swear it glowed in my hands when I picked it up.

I think of my Dad almost every time I open a beer.

I will always keep it and use it regularly.... :)

I highly doubt I ever see another like it....

+1 on Holy Grail....

Made a few of these last year, this one for my brother. Held around 130 caps till they started falling off.

Haha, awesome.

We used to make these with 30mm cases after month-long gunnery... after a while though your hands ain't so steady and you end up snapping the neck of the bottle.

Slightly off topic, Karen's son is a senior at college. Recently she and I stopped off at a yard sale and I bought a bug bottle of the old style can/bottle openers. Looked like one of the school size mayonnaise containers, and there were 178 of them in there. I paid a buck, then brought them the next time we visited him at school. I figure he will never lack for an opener at any college party, and likely not for many years after that. My drinking days are long behind me so I thought they would be of more sue to him

I use this "SUK UK" magentic opener on the side of my garage beer fridge:

Right below that is this large magnet:

Both from Amazon Prime. The magnet catch is great. It will catch and hold about a case worth of caps before it needs to be cleared.

BIC lighter since it's always in my pocket.

Biggest guy I ever knew didn't need bottle openers. Probably a few tools he didn't need.

Best one was the wrench. That's a keeper.

Interesting oscillating file machine. I wonder if it is home built or commercial.

Anyone?

Gotta order up a bunch of gussets for my next roll cage on the off-road truck. Will order some extras that are bottle openers for my welding table.

TMRcustoms.com usually gets my business.
