This was actually mostly built 2 years ago. The lean to at the end I did in the last month. Though you fellas might like to see the buildalong.

Did nearly all the work myself. Hand drew the blueprints. Pulled the permits. Everything but the concrete which I formed up myself and the garage doors.

Clearing and site prep. OK did not do this myself per say but hired a family friend at a steep discount.

16 tons of crusher run moved by hand.

Starting on posts. I used marine grade timbers for this. Termite proof and will last longer than I will live.

Vaulted trusses are recommended if you can.

Did not get pictures but there is 7/16 OSB under the NovaSeal vapor barrier.

Concrete poured

HardiePlank siding.

Running electrical and water.

Lean to off the back for my truck to be parked. Air compressor will probably eventually go out there so I don't have to listen to it in the main shop.

I just put the roofing on this lean to on today. Woof. Hottest day of the year so far.

Not pictured is sheathing the walls in OSB after putting insulation between the studs. Need to insulate the ceiling next which will be covered with some kind of metal.

Some more highlights are that my dad and I did the roofing and electrical. My FIL and I did the roof sheathing. My wife and I set the posts and rafters. Nearly everything else was done by me and alone.

24'x40' dimensions. The absolute biggest footprint I could have given my plot of land. I just put the roofing on the lean to today so that is also now finished.

The lean to was built with trees that came down behind the garage during Matthew. I chainsaw milled them into the lumber you see the lean to constructed out of. My wife said it is the circle of life for trees. The main tree I used was standing only 20 feet from where I took the pictures of the lean to.
