Bella Garage – Texas

I joined the Garage Journal in 2005 and posted photos of my garage, cars, car shows, etc. ever since. My garage at that time and up to January 2013 was a 2-car, less than 20 x 20 in size and located in the Fort Lauderdale area. The following is one photo of that garage that may be familiar to some of you.

100_1805a-L.jpg

During January 2013 my wife and I sold our South Florida home of 20 years, retired and relocated to the Fort Worth, Texas area to be near our grandkids. It took us more than a year to finally close on the lot we would build our new dream home on. We are located southwest of Fort Worth on a beautiful one and a quarter acre corner piece of property with awesome views in every direction.

As car freak and a member of this Forum you know the garage was important and certainly was going to be bigger and better than I left in Florida, but after all everything is bigger in Texas. I had been thinking about what I wanted in garage for some time and after finding the right builder my dreams are becoming reality.

The garage will feature an eighteen foot garage door and a nine, both insulated. The main garage is 25 x 34 with twelve foot high ceilings. There will be one storage room that is eight by thirteen and a shop/tool area that is eight by twelve. An additional utility/storage room is seven by eleven that has our hot water heater, water tank, water softener, etc. located in it with additional storage available. The entrance from the garage into the house also has an area seven by eleven. The single side of the garage will have a four post Direct Lift Pro Park 8S located in it.

I wanted to wait to start this ongoing post until I had progress to show. Dirt work began early in June.

I go by Bella Ranch on my way to Ft Worth. Will follow your progress, looks like you have a good plan.

Who is the builder you selected?

I can't wait to see the finished product, knowing you it will be awesome Man Cave, don't forget the big screen TV and refrigerator to keep cool watching the games.
I imagine it will have heat and air.
I bet you you are counting the days to move in, and enjoy.

WOW impressive

Loved your "old" garage, it was an inspiration to me so I'm very curious of what you're going to do with this one.
Keep the pics coming please !

Thank you very much!

Look forward to getting together with you also. What is the old car in your garage? Builder is Royal Crest Custom Homes, perfect build so far.

My 2002 Corvette's garage mate is a 1964 Studebaker Avanti R2, numbers matching factory Paxton Supercharger and a 4-speed.

Planning the new garage for the past couple of years of picked up this 8-foot Studebaker neon sign at the Pate Swap Meet this past April.

I just saw a tv episode on Velocity where they restored an Avanti, I had no clue it was a Studebaker though. Love that neon and can't wait to see what you do with the place!

The Avanti Fantom Works on Velocity was not a Studebaker. Studebaker built and offered the original Avanti as 1963 and 1964 models. Follow-on Avanti's were called Avanti II's and built with by several different companies. From 1965 on most had Chevy engines and much later on they were actually built on the frames of Impala's and Monte Carlo's.

Thank you for the comments! Mike

The car in my garage is my 1934 Ford.

You mentioned 2002 Corvette brought back memories of the 2001 that I owned.

Now I understand why you bought the Studebaker sign at Pate. I remember when the Avanti first came out and I went to the Studebaker dealer to see one in person. Beautiful car but it couldn't save Studebaker.

Thought it was time for a Bella Garage update. A lot of progress has been made since my original post of August 8.

i-vLbm7W9-L.jpg

My shop/tool area is in the corner, storage room to the left. The room to right I call it utility as it has our water heater and well tank, etc. Will have double doors and more room for storage.

i-5QxRNWf-L.jpg

In this corner is the garage entrance to the house. The raised area is 7 feet x 10 feet.

Concrete street has now been poured and should be able to use it soon.

So far our builder is doing an awesome job. More to follow…Mike

Looks like a class place. Going to be a nice garage/home when it's finished. I haven't lived in Tx in almost 20 years but the roads seem to have gotten better. I still own a home in the panhandle and the last time I was there, there were only two kinds of roads, closed and under construction.
Love the Stude. There's a 3o something here that is extremely nice. Brilliant metallic red street ros. I'll try to get a pic next time I see it at a cruise.

Time for an update on our house build. The garage drywall has been completed with texture applied. Garage doors should be installed in the next few days. Progress will now slow down as the interior of the house gets going.
