Belt or orbital sander

While I have a larger job I use my belt sander, maximum of the rest of the time I use my random orbital sander. I very rarely use my quarter-sheet sander, but there are times when it fits better on a job.

I run most every type of sander normally available, but I am using them on machinery instead of wood. I lost a vibratory finishing sander in a flood 20 years ago, and never bothered to replace it. The handheld belt sander is my next least used sander, as I do not do much woodwork anymore. I could fill up a commercial wheelbarrow with the various sanders and grinders I have in the shop. Each one gets used, and they all have their place in doing so.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing.

For most my woodworking I use a Makita 3x24 loaded with 120 grit and a DeWalt 1/4 sheet loaded with 220 grit, stearate coated. Finish sanding, between coats of varnish. I have an early Bosch 5" RO . It's too rough running for steady use.

Yup you didnt mention the jitter bug sander that comes in handy on bodywork. Use mine all the time.
