I have an old (40s?) Black&Decker valve grinder, set up as a "dry" unit with a makeshift funnel to hang behind it for lube. I have been working on it a bit, got new rubber motor mount studs, replaced the power cord, it works, runs but I need belts. Anyone have a length and/or width?
Its in the garage, I'm in the house. I can get the actual model number(s) from it if need be.
Got a bunch of stones and the seat cutter with it. No not for sale.
I have run an old Sioux valve grinder before, and have enough small engines here (mostly cast iron Kohler stuff) to mess with to keep me busy with it for a little while and a couple of Slant 6 and 318 heads here to refresh myself on the fine points of head/valve work, that it will come in handy for....

I had an old valve grinder. Can't remember if it was a Sioux or a B&D. I believe it had a flat belt - leather I think.

No this one takes a v belt, actually 2. 1 to run the grinding wheel side any 1 to run the valve stem spinner (for lack of a better way to put it)

ok here's what numbers I can find...
"Super Service Valve Refacer"
Size; 9/16"
Type N
Serial 1169809

on the other motor; "Work Head" 110v 1.3A Assy 20575
there is a belt going to the "Work head; would this be the same belt as the other side?
(does it take the same belt on both sides?)

BUMP Cmon... nobody?
You have a ~60-80 year old obscure tool! It's not too hard to just measure for the belt you need. Here is a handy calculator:

https://www.omnicalculator.com/physics/belt-length

Then you just need to determine the section:
https://www.powertransmission.com/issues/0617/vbeltsfig6.jpg

It will almost certainly be using "fractional" or "L" series belts. If you can find on in the right size, I recommend getting a "cogged" or "notched" v-belt.

One you get the number from the distance calculator, and the section type based on pulley width, it's just a matter of putting it all together. If you determine you need a "4L" section and a 37" long belt, you just need to find a "4L370" belt.

A piece of rope, 3/8 - 1/2 dia lay it in the groove, without stretching it, will get you in the ball park.
