I have the lift set up an running. Having an issue when going down . It's catching about half down an engaging safety locks. All square..ramps leveled up an post are plumb..??? Any suggestions? ?
Check that your slack safety springs are in the right place per this bulletin:
.
If they are in the wrong place, they will tug on the cable just a bit too much (especially with the lift unloaded) and the secondary locks may start engaging.
My entire HD-9XW installation story starts here in my build thread: HD-9XW
I recently had my HD-9 installed and was experiencing a similar issue. Turns out that I was shipped a European spec unit that had an additional spring that had to be removed as the locks could not overcome the additional spring tension. I suggest you give BendPak a call.
Thanks for this info. I wasted the whole day trying to figure out why the slack safety kept engaging. Mine also came with 2 springs. After reading this post I removed the second spring and now the slack safety is working fine but I'm still having problems with the primary safety. The springs are just to heavy and will not fully release. I removed the springs to test and it works fine. I'm calling Bendpak tomorrow
I just had my HD-9 installed yesterday and my installer removed two springs from each post for the Slack Safety. He indicated that it was a Euro spec and that it actually works better with just one spring in each post. Is this what everyone is referring to? I want to make sure the slack safety will work in this setup if needed.
I think that is what the bulletin above says, but cannot tell 100%.
FYI - The bulletin above that I posted refers to the spring being installed in the wrong spot, not about having two of them in each position. My springs had to be moved per the instructions.

There were actually three springs in each of my posts. According to the installer, it was a European regulatory requirement and that it supposedly works better with just one spring in each post.
