This past weekend my lift finally arrived. I bought a Bendpak HD-9XW.

My biggest challenge was and still is the shipping. The lift was not available to be picked up until 1 week after the requested and projected delivery date. Day after day Yellow Freight indicated it was either on its way or would be available to be picked up. When it was finally delivered to the local shipping terminal it took them days to unload the trailer. Very very frustrating.

When I finally got the lift my RJ45 air jack was not included. Bendpak is submitting a claim through Yellow Freight and shipping me another one. So far Bendpak has been very helpful in trying to get the issue resolved. It was shipped and now I am waiting for it to arrive. I hope it goes smoother this time.

I got the lift on Friday morning. I spent all day Friday and all day Saturday setting it up. I worked alone except for one hour of help from my neighbor which was indispensable. My engine lift was a huge help as well.

I actually had a good time putting it together. A big thanks to Ovilla for his helpful post with tips about his setup. Another big thanks to Junkman who took a call from me during the install and helped clarify some things for me.

The lift went together the way it should. The runways were somewhat bent from shipping (thanks again Yellow Freight) but I was able to pound them out. The directions were misleading at times but it all worked out.

It was a huge thrill to lift my truck the first time. I am still amazed at how big the lift is. This is one of those things i have wanted since I was 16 years old. Fulfilling a life long dream is pretty cool.

Here are some pictures.

Cheers!

Congratulations, you will really like it. Just yesterday I had to load a engine lift into my pickup to go get an engine. Thing was a lot heavier than I remember it being so loaded it onto the lift, backed the truck under it & rolled it into the bed which was a lot easier than having to lift it by hand & saved the back. It's great to be able to work at any height that is comfortable rather than on ramps & jackstands.

Glad to hear that it went well. Anytime that I can help someone I will do what ever it takes to give assistance. Had you called me sooner, I would have come over and given you a hand.

If I give you a call this afternoon, do you think you could give me a hand this weekend? I need to set up an HD-12. I'm just an hour south of Missoula. I'll spring for the refreshments.:lol_hitti

Missoula is in NW Montana. About 4hrs east of Spokane Washington. I'll check on plane tickets, do they need to be first class?

On a serious note, it's nice to find out that there are people like yourself that are willing to help out when needed. Thanks, Mike.

shocksystems - Looking very good! I like your shop too as it has tons of space. Anyway, it took four of us a good 4 hours to put mine up so your two days of effort is about right. Also, you'll definitely need the engine lift for the RJ-45 as that thing is also a monster. It trully complements the lift though and makes it so easy to work on suspension work. I'm actually saving my money to buy another RJ-45 myself.

Where's your air compressor located? If you could move it up to your loft, I think you could then get a hose reel mounted off the side wall of the loft wall and then be able to pull it over to the lift. This way it won't be in the way. That's the same issue I was having - air hose management. I now have BendPak/Ranger 50' ceiling mounted air hose reel mounted right next to the lift.

Thanks everyone.

Junkman: I should have called you sooner!

Ovilla: The air hose is a temporary arrangement. I think for now I will move the air line and hang it on the underside of the loft and then back over to the lift. The way I have it now it does lay on top of the front of my truck when it is on the lift. An air hose reel is a good idea though.

Cheers!

Yep - you'll love the lift! I'm glad I went with the xtra tall, becuase when I want it out of the way I can raise it and have a clear floor and not have to duck under it. Plus, I'm finding ALL kinds of extra uses for it: like lifting things to truck height, sanding rocker panels, lifting heavy objects to paint or mount them (e.g. lifted a ****** off floor to stand height for mounting) and even storing a bunch of stuff up out of the way while cleaning the floor!

I agree there. It's quite a feeling when you lift the very first vehicle up on your new lift! :bounce:

Yep, only thing more exciting/stressful is the first time driving your car under a car already on the lift!!
