Sorry to post about another scissor lift but I want to give props to Summit Racing for holding up their end of the deal on delivering a new MD-6XP lfit to my home for $1915 total. Con-Way just dropped the lift off and the delivery person not only helped put the lift into the garage - he helped me take the lift off the pallet and took the pallet with him for disposal. This lift is HEAVY! Big thanks to Vito at Summit Racing!

Until I recess into the ground I'm going with 2x3 and 3/4" plywood for a 16" wide platform. Looking forward to using the lift soon!

It is worth recessing it in the ground...trust me!
Until I get the motivation to tackle recessing (and finishing the garage) this will have to do for now. Finished the ramps last night, 2x3x11 topped with 3/4" plywood and 6 stringers for extra support. This is going to make working on cars that much easier, and more fun!

I have the same MD6XP. I is wonderful to have it recessed into the floor. I hated parking on the wood ramps.

The one thing I wonder about is the metal tabs at the ends that prevent the arms from rotating all the way. The tabs are always in the way for my needs. I may just cut them off.

The Porsche is with the pit. The Elky is before the pit. I ended up cutting a trench over to the wall and mounting the pump on the wall.

The arrow points to the tabs I may cut off. I can't see any real purpose for them except to get in the way. :shocking:

How deep did you recess you lift? Do you notice the lost height for wheel/brake work?

Also, one of the bolts for the arms is barely showing once the nut was tightened. Should I be concerned and call the factory or just leave it be?

This shows how the other 3 bolts are secured:

My pit is just under 9 inches deep. It is the height of the lift all the way down with the lift pads on it. I can use the lift pads to support a piece of plywood I use to cover the pit.

Get yourself some longer bolts. You should have 2-3 threads showing on any structural bolted joints. I'd go with grade 8 also. Those look like locking nuts also, is that correct. Either way, you definitely want some whether they are nylock, elliptical, or whatever.

Agreed I would feel safer with a few threads past the nut. Unfortunately the bolt is integral to the arm so I can't install a longer bolt. Can other MD6XP owners please check and verify your arm bolts? Thanks

Mine is the exact same lift with an Eagle sticker on it, about 7 years old. I just checked the bolts, mine are castle nuts with cotter pins... bolt is flush with the nut. I am embarassed to say that at this moment mine is being used as a works bench with an IRS from a Jag disassembled on it, but I do have a 10000lb Bend Pak 2 post lift as well

All 4 of mine have a few threads sticking out through the nut. The nut is a big nylock style on mine.

A couple of extra threads showing does nothing to the strength or security of the bolt and nut (other than making a few of you feel better). There is plenty of exposed thread with that bolt. I wouldn't hesitate to engineer the fasteners that way if the clearance was needed.
