Thought I had found the lift I wanted. Since I hadn't started the pour yet I figured a flush mount midrise lift would work well for my 10 foot ceilings and by 24x30 space. Nothing in the way, nothing to bolt to the floor.

According to the local dealer Bendpak mad a change on the locks and where gearing up to start fulfilling orders again. Then some some parts came back inferior and they had to retool.

The next shipment of lifts are not scheduled until End of October. :(

So I have read many posts of trying to set forms and stuff with measurements in the manual only to have them not be accurate when the lift arrives.

Do you GJers have any advise? Fullrise is out of the question due to cost. $4500 is out of my price range.

$3400 for the EE or Holden Engineering flush mount delivered, no taxes 4 day delivery from Florida.

Just worried about warranty and service issues. Looking at the Atlas flush mount.

This better not be the case, I just confirmed last week that my ship date was still July 22nd on mine.

Ha, Nemo I did hear they had a shipment coming in for July. Sorry, I meant the next one after this one will be October.
I was too late to get on this one.

Oh, thank goodness! I already emailed my rep asking lol I guess we'll see what they say too...but I sure hope it ships on time. It was already delayed once (I should have had it end of May).

I was jacked around by BendPak, over and over for months on one of these.
I got in touch with Greg Smith and 3 days later I had an Atlas Kwik Bay 7K running in my shop.
So, instead of waiting 18 months for what is now promised for just a couple months more, I've been enjoying working on our machines on the Atlas.

I picked up the same lift as Kay a few months ago. I was also interested in this Bendpak, but wasn't willing to wait. Now that I have the Atlas, I'm glad I picked it up over the Bendpak. The ramps on the end of Altas provide great flexibility since you can lock them in place to increase the platform length. I've had a few cars on it where the lift points were greater than the 57" platform. The two ramps are 10" each. And you can probably recess the Atlas if you wanted to.

The Atlas FM9SL is a few thousand more than the BendPak in Canada ($4000 for BendPak compared to almost $7000 for the Atlas after you factor in shipping/tax). In my case I don't have the ceiling height to lift any higher than the BendPak goes anyway...so didn't make sense. I definitely checked it out though. I also looked at the Rotary RLP77 but it was double the price of the Atlas, was out.

Kay and I are talking about a different lift, the Atlas Kwik Bay.

Nemo have you cut your floor yet for these? what dimensions are you going?
Waiting until it's in my garage before I even think of cutting the floor. Given that I was delayed once already and who knows when it will actually show up...and that they've revised the locking mechanism too, it's not worth risking it until I have hardware.

Word is that the July delivery has been pushed back to August 18th.

Has anyone have one yet? I am interested in the pit specs. For some reason the 4 3/8" pit depth seems too shallow to house each unit.

I guess, Nemo should be getting his today. I will send him a PM if he doesn't say anything soon about it.

I knew mine was a late ship date. They build them to order since it is a relatively new lift and not much demand for it....yet.

Yup, and tracking shows it just arrived in my province this morning...so it's actually quite possible it will be here on time.

JohnnyK8 where are you located?

I was tempted to get a MaxJaxx setup, but I decided to spend just a little more money to not take up floor space.

Well...it's here. Ignore the messy picture, I quickly ripped open the packaging so I could inspect the lift before the driver left.

Few scuffs in the paint, but no major damage. They sent floor pans which aren't needed on the 6KF but at least sent the right end caps and not the end ramps like the 6K, so all parts accounted for.

What a pain in the *** getting it off the truck though. It wouldn't fit on the liftgate with the pallet jack he had, so had to use the engine hoist and floor jack to wiggle it off. Took a half hour to unload it, should have taken 5 minutes...and I paid an extra fee to have residential delivery that I shouldn't have had to do squat to get it off the truck.

Oh well, the long wait is over.

Can a mod/admin merge the two MDS-6KF threads? Would be nice to have all this info in one spot.

These suckers are heavy and big. Getting my 2 post off the truck was not gun.

I had it delivered to work and then had a guy fork it onto a pickup since the trucker refused to drop off at my house.

Have fun man. The waiting is about to pay off.

I'm in North Central il. I love my C7000 Triumph. Then again no one regrets their lift purchase. Regardless of the style.

NEMO let me know where the hoses go, towards the front of the garage or towards the garage door. The manual doesn't say, so I know which side to run the pvc under the concrete.

Thanks.

I think they shipped me an old version of the lift! I went and lifted the platform up to get a look at the hookups for the hydraulics and there's an air actuated lock. They were supposed to be changed to automatic locks without air.

Ugh, just contacted Bendpak/Babco and waiting on a response. I'll be royally pissed if they sent me the old lift after making me wait for months to get it.

They're saying what I got is the latest revision. I sent them the info where they told me it was getting revised without air actuated locks and getting CE Certification. Director of Sales at BendPak is looking into it. The person who told me of the revisions from BendPak is no longer with the company. I have a feeling it might be some miscommunication...although it doesn't explain the delay.

We'll see.

So long and short, they tried a few things, one was without air locks...but they settled on the design that I have received. Here's a quote from BendPak themselves:

The MDS-6K was being redesigned and a few different versions were tested. One version was to have non-pneumatic safety locks and was supposed to be supplied with a power unit stand instead of a console. After months of testing of all the samples, the version you have received is the final and has been put in mass production. I’ve included the link for the specifications sheet for you to reference.

The revisions were to the safety air cylinder, flow divider, and the routing of the hoses.

Just a bit of miscommunication along the way about what was happening.

So all settled up, right lift, job done. In addition, without even asking, they're refunding me $300 for the trouble and wait.

A lot of complications, but in the end I think it'll all work out. Now onward with installing it!

Good stuff. Airlocks are a pain in the *** anyway. No need for more hoses and a compressor running.

They do have air locks unfortunately. Lucky enough, I have a 60 gallon IR compressor that is pretty well always full and hard piped into the garage. I even left an extra tap right where the lift console will go for the very purpose.

News of the day: The yellow end caps that go on the platforms where you see the two welded on little sections of tube...holy **** was the welding job ******, they're all out of alignment. Going to take a lot of fiddling around and figuring out which one fits best where, and then banging the living **** out of the pins to get them in.

Cutting the floor this weekend though. I think I'm going to go with a 34-36" width between the platforms. The standard 30" is a little narrow for most vehicles I've taken measurements of. With 30" width it ends up 49" wide center to center of platform. My vehicles (a car and a small suv) are 55" and 57" respectively in width between the jack points, so a center to center width of 53-55" is better. Anyone see a problem with that?

Started destroying concrete today. Opening up an 80" long, by 84" wide spot to work with. Could maybe have gone a few inches less but will make the sides thicker/stronger between the pits and the old slab. The diagrams from Bendpak for the lift pit size are accurate, maybe a smidge generous but I'm going to roll with their sizes.

When the house was built I had the builder put a 6" slab of 32mpa concrete in the garage. The idea was to put a small two post in originally, however they went ahead and saw cut control cuts right where the lift posts would go. So since I'd have to do concrete work either way, the mid rise scissor became an option and it's less in the way, it made a lot of sense. Anyway, the slab is ****** tough to jack hammer out...spent a few hours and probably only got a quarter of the way through. Luckily was picking up the pace once I got it all the way across, bigger chunks coming out at once.

Hopefully finish jackhammering tomorrow.

Do you have a concrete saw? Rent one it'll cut the time in half

Yes, I cut the perimeter before jack hammering anything. It's only a 12" concrete saw though, so I get roughly 4" of cut depth, so doesn't make it all the way through.

Either way, got through the rest of it today.

Tomorrow going to clean everything up, get the depth level, and put some gravel down and if I'm really ambitious start on forms/rebar.
