Sorry to rehash a topic that has probably been overasked but im looking for a decent quality garage floor tile at good price. I would consider closeouts or discontinued tiles to save a buck (if anyone knows of any). There are too many choices out there. Any experience, suggestions or feedback on these tiles.

Craftsman (Sears) polypropylene $2.20
BigFoot (Greg Smith Equip.) $2.00
A tile on Ebay I believe is Titan? $1.45
Swisstrax $2.98
Modutile (Ebay) $1.98
Racedeck

Hmmmm?:dunno: let me see ;)

Seriously, you will get a lot of feedback I am sure on all of the above ( and more ) there is a lot of good info here. tip! look for comments from those who have been here for some time and are active garage members.

This thread is sure to 'spam out', so I can't and don't want to list out +/-'s of what you have listed above, though I am happy to get you free samples and information on RaceDeck® garage floors that we manufacture.

There are a lot of great products on the market. Like Jorgen said you will find lots of comments online about them including some stellar reviews of our product. We would be happy to send you some samples.

Where I am a little different, is that I am not specific to one brand. We have several. I would be happy to send you samples and if you drop me an email with what your looking for and how your going to use it I can make some suggestions.

I am not going to knock any products. Swisstrax and Racedeck are great.

Mine have been great. I have the Racedeck, GarageDeck version. 3 years now and doing well. I do have a hole from a rock stuck into my truck tire. Kinda weird how it punched right through.

I also have some minor discoloration on 2 tiles from some oil. Hardly noticeable. Jacks have been no problem. I drop **** all the time, no issues.

I haven't used jack stands on it. Personally, I am going to weld some small 2" circular pads to the feet of each stand to spread out the load.

How is race deck or any of the tiles if you do any welding? I do a good bit of both mig and oxy/fuel so sparks and heat is a concern. In fact I do larger projects on the floor now which is why I have not moved up from just decent garage painted floor..

How does plastic react to fire?[/QUOTE

With RaceDeck is does not "react" its will not ignite ( of course it will melt in a fire as will everything else in the garage) . There are other "plastic' tiles out there that use vinyl, rubber, foaming agents, etc that may have an issue.

We do manufacture flooring with Flame Retardant for special specified applications as well.

It will melt the tile...or leave little splatters inbedded into the tile, kind of looks cool. Racedeck has offered to replace my damaged tiles but its not worth it to me since it will happen again. I have had my tiles well over 10 years now and they still clean up as good as new, lots of welding/grinding, lots of clutches, motors/gearboxes pulled and put back into the car, lots of oil and other fluids spilled on them and the only lasting damage was from my welder and my welding cart with its cheap Harbor Freight rubber casters (the only thing that has stained my floor with small yellow marks that seem permanent).

When I moved I even took my Racedeck floor with me, try that with a epoxy.

The only real negative to a Racedeck floor was the expense after I got tired of laying down a welding blanket on the floor and got tired of burning it with MIG splatter because I didn't put the blanket down, so I fixed the problem by buying a TIG which does not splatter all over the place. Now I only have to lay down the blanket when using my plasma cutter.

A Racedeck is a little bit of work to keep nice but in my opinion it is absolutely worth it, after all I don't weld daily or pull engines daily but i am in the shop daily and I like the floor.

I am sure the other brands are just as good but not all of them have the customer service that Racedeck has.
