Justin,
Thanks for the update. Is the company going to supply the stripper? I am going to need quite a bit of stripper for 900 sq ft.

I have estimated 50 - 75sf/ gallon coverage based off product reviews. My local HD has it for $20 1/2 gallon.

Removal instructions here. If you are going to coat with an epoxy obviously skip this and grind. http://www.garageflooringllc.com/pdfs/Scan_Jul_12_2016_4-13_pm.pdf

I was under the impression that TLPPC penetrated and only with repeated coats built some surface film/shine. Is it only the bad batches that sit on top and can be removed with stripper (such that the surface is porous enough to absorb water ) - or will a normal TLPPC install also be absorbent with the normal minimal surface film removed ?

Normally TLPPC is very difficult to remove. With product they did the testing on from input from those here this did work. Information is flowing very slowly to me and I am getting it out asap. I have also been given a contact where people can file a claim and that will be going out to everyone on Tuesday.

My floor is not absorbent where the surface film has come up. I have had water set on the surface until it evaporated. I've also noticed in my case the staining has been contained in the surface film. I only have problems with the coating if I park a wet car inside.

I saw in your pictures that the film is quite amber - is TLPPC normally an amber finish ?

I don't think it was supposed to amber.

I wouldn't think it should amber. I also don't believe it's the heat in the tires causing the ambering. I think it's something between the moisture and tires..

The problems I've had with coating have been addressed by Justin and the manufacturer. I am OK with the progress of the settlement, I see some people are pressed for time and need to get their floors done. Fortunately I have another garage. I'm mostly glad that it wasn't something that I screwed up and hopefully it will be resolved satisfactorily.

The warranty messages are being forwarded to the manufacturer and the resin manufacturer. This is to help narrow down the batch, etc. They are sealing a floor using the product at issue. They are going to abuse until it fails and then test a resolution. Unfortunately this is not something I can rush.

So is there a chance the new product can be installed over the old product, without removing the old product?

You just received a refund, correct?

I've got time, so I'm in no hurry, but would like to be able to use my garage. ;)

I haven't received anything yet. I'll wait until Tuesday to file when Justin makes the form available. I'm hoping that the settlement takes into consideration the cost in both time and materials that it will take to repair my floor.

I'm using my garage, just stopped moving stuff in. At least now I'm not so worried about screwing up the floor

Maybe the new product, or product from another batch, can be applied over this and not have an issue, I'd be happy with that as a solution for me.

I know that my floor is sealed even after the top layer is removed. I've tested it with water and it will sit for an hour or more even @ 95 degrees. I am not adventurous enough to test oil. I think recoating will require stripping or grinding. I've lost about 50sf of the top layer so far

I'm hoping just to sand the spots where the top film has peeled, and then just reapply sealer. Looks like first coat took just fine.

No, he will just refund the money you paid for the product. Which I do not agree with. Their product failed, now I have to put out more money to rent a grinder (which I requested they cover, and was told no).

Water tested mine today, it's sealed, but I didn't try any used oil, I'll try that tomorrow.

I am sure glad I didn't do this, So sorry that you guys are having a problem. I also feel that some one should pay for your labor to remove their failures. I will follow this thread. Richard

I don't have a dog in this race but I did read all the posts in this thread - and I hope it works out for you guys...

I got to thinking about what a well known manufacturer - like Sherwin Williams has for a warranty on their products, so I looked it up

Here is a link to a pdf file that spells out their warranty:
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...0_8Qigv43PxxlmeJWW2Ysg&bvm=bv.127178174,d.cGc

Basically a refund or replacement material - but may cover labor depending on what state you live in

Issues like this can make or break a small company, I'm going to sit back and hope the proper remedy is found.

I am the person who started this thread and may have been the first person out of many to have a problem with this product. I was obviously not very happy when the product failed. It has cost me money because I have been forced to keep a storage unit. It has also caused me tons of time because it has put a stop to pretty much any progress on my garage.

Justin jumped on the problem right away and asked me to send a sample to the company so they could test it. This was 6 weeks ago and no one really has an answer to what is going on. I called the company directly about 4 days ago. I received a call back that day from a nice lady. She stated that she was not working on the project but left a message for the gentleman on his phone and a note on his office door to call me. I never received a call.

Instead of asking for a refund and money to pay for a grinder to remove the TLPPC I asked Justin if he would be willing to replace it with an expoy system. I was told no and that he could just credit my refund towards the epoxy and I would have to pay the difference. If I decide to go with an epoxy system and grind the floor I am going to be out at least $600 more than my initial investment (double what I originally spent).

I am not looking for anything for free but I do not believe I should be out anymore money than I originally spent. I don't think anyone put a bad product out on purpose but it happened and it should be taken care of. I feel that I have been pretty patient and I am still being positive but my patients is about to run out. I am really hoping that a fair solution for everyone is reached soon.

My dad was a carpenter by trade. He put vinyl siding on my parents house when it first became popular. The siding faded after a few years. The company gave him all new siding for free and paid to have it installed even though he did it himself. While I am not looking for the company to pay for the install of a new floor I am hoping they handle the problem in a similar manner.

I feel your pain, zio.

I went to change out some brake pads today on my truck, got the old pads off and pulled the new pads out of the box - clearly not the correct pads - the guy at the parts store grabbed the wrong box off the shelf.

Wife bought the pads earlier this week at a location in town.

Aggravation, but life, simple mistake. I take the pads back to a different location and want to get them swapped for the correct pads. Pads we had purchase initially were $35.99, correct pads were $39.99.

Manager explains the correct pads are more expensive, but since THEY messed up, he refunded the original amount and sold me the correct pads for $34.99.

Needless to say, I'll be using this location many more times.

I say all that to say that I don't understand why Garage Flooring LLC wouldn't be able to absorb the cost of their mistake and substitute a product of theirs at no extra charge to the customer.

It's just good customer service.

I don't really want a refund either, I want the problem made correct.

What good is a garage floor I can't park a wet vehicle on?

This thread is really making me consider Racedeck.

Hope you Guys get it worked out and the manufacturer / supplier steps up to make this right.

This thread is making me reconsider Garage Flooring, llc.

I honestly think everything else Justin sells is a good product from what I have read here. I think this just happens to be a screw up by the manufacturer.

Garage Flooring (Justin) also said that he was out of town and dealing with a family issue, and that he would have an update on Tuesday.

At least give him until Tuesday before you make your final thoughts on the company as a whole.

^ This.

We can break out the pitch forks after Tuesday. ;)

If he's got a family issue, I'm
willing to wait until he can get his head space where it needs to be.

I think they've already offered refunds, correct?

I personally am not looking for that, yet.

Appreciate you Guys remaining positive but don't see this ending any other way than to strip the whole floor and start over. I believe they have already denied requests for equipment rentals and for another more expensive product to replace what has failed.

Maybe I missed it, but has there been other members who have had success with this product?

For you guys wanting more than what was offered, what do you think Home Depot or Rustoleum would do for if you the epoxy that you bought in a Home Depot store was defective? Tell you to call Rustoleum?

Most vendors would just either replace the product, refund your money, or tell you to f off. I think Justin has done more than was expected of a vendor. This is the manufacturers problem. Hopefully their insurance claims adjuster makes things right.
