I do not have any Tekton combination wrenches, so cannot comment on them. I do have a lot of Tekton tools, mainly impact sockets and pliers, great warranty, I might add.
I have a set of Gearwrench in 12 pt metric made in Taiwan, good wrenches but prefer my Armstrong wrenches. I have several Carlyle in 6 point metric, great wrenches, a bit pricey, better value when on sale. Most if not all of my wrenches are Armstrong, KD, Allen and old and newer Craftsman (newer Craftsman in road bag in the truck of my car for road repairs). Also have older professional NAPA wrenches (Danaher made), a set of Channellock with non-slip open end in metric (7 to 19mm), really like these, older Urrea in metric (I like these because they are somewhat thin and short for a comb wrench), a few Proto in SAE, Toptol extra long (10 to 19mm) great wrenches, sometimes too long. Have a few Snap-On and Mac, Matco specially wrenches, mostly bought used for specific purposes.
For a DIYer I have way to many combination wrenches, but my favorite are my Armstrong wrenches in SAE and Metric, chrome and satin, regular and long (wow I have 7 sets of Armstrong plan jane 12 point combination wrenches, I really need to stop buying Armstrong wrenches).
Considering today what is still available (Armstrong killed off), I would either pick Carlyle when on sale, Gearwrench made in Taiwan (if still available), or Channellock with the non-slip open end (similar to Carlyle and the older Dewalt with non-slip open end). If not interested in wrenches with "teeth" Carlyle makes regular combination wrench without the non-slip open end. Tekton would be ok too, but probably not my first choice.
Have you searched Ebay. Not to long ago I saw a nice set of metric Blackhawk USA made combination wrench set for not much money if you are looking for a USA made set.
