Best Philips screwdriver?

I have had Great luck and experiences with the Craftsman blue electricians style philips with the rubber grip AND the Craftsman Professional philips.

The Craftsman standard screwdrivers are junk to me.

What is the snap on Pozi drive?

and how does that compare to their regular #2 philips?

I had a set of Williams, I was NOT impressed with the performance. It wasnt anything significantly better than the better Craftsmans to me.
I wonder if the williams really is the same as the snap on.....I have my opinion.

Pozi-drive is a drive type. You can kinda use a phillips driver in a pozi-drive screw head - but not the other way around.

I bought the Proto Classic Professional Screwdrivers...

The J9600AC 6 pc set is about $ 55.00...

The J9600CC 8 pc set is about $ 68.00...

I think they're the best screwdrivers I've ever used, and they're made in the U.S.A....

There is no best. This is VERY subjective. Everyone is going to have a different opinion. I own Snap On, Proto, Klein,Cornwell(Witte)and Craftsman Phillips drivers. The best fitting Phillips driver out of the all the drivers I own the German Cornwell(witte made). They just grab the screw the best. Not the best handles of the bunch that goes to Snap On instincts.

I like the replaceable bit screwdrivers. Snap on is the best for me. Don't like the Craftsman ones at all.

I like Klein because they are easy to obtain and I wear screwdrivers out frequently from daily use.

Like either Snap-On, MAC have have a few Matco (newer ones) they are NICE. Thinking they are Witte made in Germany. Germany does have good tools.

I think the Phillips head screw was purposely designed to destroy the screw driver over time. At the first sign of wear on the Phillips screw driver tip, the tool should be destroyed and immediately replaced. Cut the end off and toss it away. It will only get worse!

Only spend big money on the Philips #2, the rest don't really get used hard. Even then most of the "hard" tasks are done by drill/drivers with replaceable tips.

I have drawer full of craftsman that get used for lots of non-screw-driving tasks.

What Williams set did you have. Did they have the acr tip on the Phillips. Once you use an acr tip Phillips You will be sold on them

I do like the handle on the Witte, excellent design.

The slim line snap-on screw driver handles I did like them but they stopped making them.

The one that works at the time, and doesn't strip the screw.

I like Snap On but most of the pro brands are pretty good.

And if I think a Phillips screwdriver is going to be a *****, then I break out the good old hand impact driver.

The 53035 doesn't have microfiber flocking, but the 63035 does.

The 63501 is a #1 with hex bolster and the 63502 is a #2 with hex bolster.

Industry standard will always have the #1 phillips with a 3'' shaft and the #2 phillips with a 4'' shaft.

The 9T is a Sears prefix.

I can't narrow it down to just one so, here's my top 3 or so:

Snap on hard handle P#2 with a 4 inch blade. It just seems to fit screws better.

Old style Wiha microfinish with the hex blades. Simply the best nonslip handle available. sadly, they don't make them anymore. Not to be confused with the cheap round blades available today or those hideous striking cap models :wtf:

Proto Duratek screwdriver with the heavier bolstered blade. Quickly becoming my reach for first screwdriver. :thumbup:

The German made NAPA blue and yellow handled screwdrivers. Not the current Carlyle ones, the ones before that. Think Witte without the flocking. I'm not a fan of the flocking, gets dirty and stay dirty. I've worn some of it off on the first generation Matco drivers from like 10 years ago.

But honestly, my favorite P2 screwdriver is my tiny snap cordless CT561 screwdriver. I hardly ever use a regular screwdriver any more. It's really small and strong. I haven't found anything comparable in it's size. Mine is so used, the red snap on paint is worn off and it's just dinged up black now. I had to replace the 7.2 volt batteries because they lasted less and less time on a full charge. :beer:

I also like the C-Man professional Phillips. The other day, I bought a C-Man professional 6 in 1 that's much more comfortable than their standard model.

What was is that you did not like about that set? Did they fail after so long? Did the tips break off? I have tht set and they are very nice no problems.

Warranty from matco is entire driver, handle and all. As far as I could find there are only 8 non isolated sizes, I know WITTE had their website but I don't do much beyond what the 8 pack from matco offers

Wiha hex shafts. The handles fit in my palm and don't slip. And they grab a screw really well.

I got a small set of the wera chisel drivers, made in Czech
The Phillips just fits so nicely in screws :bounce:

Haven't used it much but a cam out is harder because of such a great fit.

Better than my craftsman pro's

they are hex shaft, and bolstered, 1/4 in square in the strike cap for a ratchet if you ever want to get retarded :thumbup:

handle wise to me the craftsman pro's take it by a nose :3gears:

I agree-ish. You need to think of Pozidrive and Phillips as being totally different in the same way Torx and Hex socket head screws are different.

If you use the wrong type driver you will, most likely, mash up the screw head.

There was a thread on here not long ago showing they wear out extremely quickly. The tip was trashed after the first couple uses.

The op was driving pz2 screw with a ph2 driver. Iv got Pb Swiss and wera screwdrivers I'd rate the wera better.

I've had good luck with the SO hard handle type, I personally prefer the ACR versions.
