My pick would be Uponor, made in France last time I checked. Very good quality.

Not sure what the largest size is that you’ll be cutting. Not that it matters. I have rigid and have used the hell out of them. I’m not sure where they were made. Sorry I can’t help you out more.

I have seen a PVC cutter that resembled a lightweight copper tubing cutter, rollers, anvil with blade, and screw handle. THAT's the one I want.

Need to replace a broken PVC cutter from Horrible Freight. Looks like Ridgid has moved to China. Is MCC the best bet now? Looks like a decent tool imported from Japan.

EDIT: Thread titled "PVC" cutter..... should have said PEX, CPVC, and PVC... 3/8" and up.

Thanks,

I've had an mcc PVC cutter for probably 40 years. They invented the ratcheting split-anvil PVC cutter. I've replaced a few blades along the way, but it's lasted 40 years, so I'd say they have a good design.

The Knipex looks heavy-duty, I'd hate to pay their price, I'm sure it's $$$, I haven't looked, because I already have several PVC cutters, w/the mcc being the one I've had the longest. I still have the box it came-in, too.

$103 on Amazon over kill for DIY guy coming from HF

Knipex has some other designs for $40-$60.........plenty of decent tools like MCC tools in the $20-30 range for a DIY casual use.

I used my friends M12, simply enjoyable. Ridgid is well built regardless of COO and will serve you well

Thanks, will probably go MCC. Knipex looks interesting, but as the poster above said it is probably overkill for a homeowner with MCC being half the price.

Do you need the BEST? Unless you cut pvc all day long something like a 125 buck Knipex is overkill. I bought the Dawn Industries R125 ratcheting cutter. It is glass reinforced nylon, around 30 bucks and sold in the irrigation supply stores. Those guys cut a lot of tubing, in the dirt,4 so it must stand up. The blade is replaceable. I've cut PVC and a lot of other hose and tubing and it works very well. I got mine from some some outfit selling on Amazon but it is readily available
