So I'm getting tired of heading to Lowes or GD and paying sky high prices anytime I need a few screws. So I am thinking of ordering all of the common sizes of wood screws and keeping a full assortment on hand. Figure it would end up saving me a ton of cash over the long run.

Who do you guys recommend for the best online sources to order wood screws. Thinking 100 or so of each size to get started.

Thanks

McFeely's is good source. They carry almost every type of design and material. Their website and catalog have good information on the type, finish and material properties. All of my large orders come from them. Boltdepot also carries screws but no square drive so their selection is more limited.

I really like GRKs of all kinds, they are all exterior rated, torx drive. But I wish I could find boxes of 1000pcs and inventory those, I don't need the blow molded mini-cases nor the useless micro torx bit as if it was some type of rarity.

Those screws are wicked little screws. Expensive like you said in the packaging and size but man do they grab.

I found several places when I googled that stock 1000 piece boxes. What makes those screws different or better?

https://www.architecturaldepot.com/...fset=36&Per_Page=36&Sort_By=bestsellers&name=

Several little details, really sharp point, self-drilling point that is a big step forward in split reduction, the torx drive, the exterior coating (on all models as I recall). There are structural RSS screws, standard "deck" screws, little trim head screws and a washer-head screw ("cabinet"?) at least that I've used.

A 4" RSS screw driven into a "T" joint of 2x framing material, with the screw thread going straight into the end-grain, will pull it so tight the large washer head will self-countersink (meaning punch a counterbore) into the side-grain, if one doesn't meter the output of the impact tool. I couldn't believe what I saw but it happens over and over.

I used to order screws from McFeeley's but have since switched over to GRK screws. Every hardware store, lumberyard and Home Depot around me sells them, and I think they are worth the price.

I've been seeing ads for this company popping up in woodworking magazines. https://www.quickscrews.com/ Don't know anything about them or if they are any good but it's another place to investigate.

Our farm store sells GRK by the pound. About 1/2 the price of HD. I like to buy what I need be it 10 screws or 10 lbs. you can also buy by the box. I think they’re 35llb.

I don’t k ow how they are price wise but I really like the Ace branded dual drive screws. $25 or so for a 5# container.

I suppose a lot depends on your application. In or Outdoors? In pressure treated wood? etc.. I purchased a number of SS Bugle head screws from McFeely's a few years ago and they have performed very well for my needs. I really like the Robertson drive vs. torx vs. Phillips as well. I have not perused their site for pressure treated rated stuff but suspect they have it. I built a deck a few years ago and used Timberlok's for that (another amazing but expensive bit of kit).
Cheers.
