I was looking at 22 ton stands like the OP posted yesterday. Seems several brands are out there. As I get older, I don't mind spending a bit more money to make sure I stay alive. Lately, I've just been using 6 ton stands with the saddle all the way down.

That's utter overkill for most of us. If I'm dropping a hundo per corner (and I'm tempted), I'm going with the Esco 10498K that gives you two tower options:

we find out HF sells a dangerous tool, and suddenly everyone has to waste money on overkill jackstands. I don't get it. There are many sellers of perfectly good 3 and 4 ton stands that have excellent safety records and zero issues, and are more than adequate for any passenger car.
Yes, huge overkill. But...absolute confidence, especially under a full size SUV or pickup. The very definition of rock solid. With the design, and that much overbuild, things like weld inegrity, metal failure, ratchet mecanisms, are just not a concern. 99% of my tasks are one wheel. I also find it does not get in the way on tool arc like a tri leg can...just push the pin all the way in.
Those Esco 22 ton stands are impressive enough to get my attention. I really like this forum, but it does seem like a lot of the members assume everyone on here only works on cars and light trucks and therefore shouldn't want or need anything to work on heavier equipment and vehicles.
A design point I often find aggravating with many jack stands is the hole spacing for the pin. Some are 2" or more apart. Often it is too high or too low. The screw jack stand I showed about resolves this problem. It makes it very user friendly.
I really wanted both towers, but couldn't justify double the cost over just the flat, round one. That up charge is pretty crazy
I don't think that's the assumption at all. Most people, even here, aren't working on vehicles requiring 22-ton stands though, and only idiots would have been using the HF stands on anything that big.
