Ok I’ll try and catch up a bit. I left off at last Thursday.
8335b0cd44a8e8d0ea7312120cec3b54.jpg
I checked on and fed all the cattle.
17e1d9357d0ddaf3d9baec0e70b3f509.jpg
We ended up more rain though. So there wasn’t too much I was able to do.

So after taking care of the cattle I decided to get started on a job that’s been put offf for awhile.

The floor in the little feed shed was about to go through. So we did a fix job on it. It’s a pretty old shed. So we just braced some things back up and put down some plywood.

In addition to the chemicals I stored in there I also put in some barrels. I used them to store some left over seed we had. Some fescue, rye, wheat, oats, and soybeans. Partial bags, stuff cleaned out of the drills and planters left over. At least the barrels will keep the mice from getting into them.

We also picked up a full pallet of mineral and supplement and put them in the shed that day too.
cdc4e68092209138a0799d72676a76e6.jpg
We also picked up a few tubs for the cattle too but put them out right away.

After taking care of that I started picking up some things in the storage trailer. There’s been a bunch of stuff sat around everywhere that needed to be picked up and reorganized. That was also where quite a bit of the seed was left that I’d moved and mice did find it inside there.

I got some of it picked up.

I had a little time so I grabbed the oscillating multi-tool and cut a few things.

I cut the dividers out of some old DeWalt cases that were sitting around. Now they can actually used for something. I’ve done that to a few before. They’re actually pretty sturdy.

Friday was a bit of a late start.
abf6efafff1c2e38519ad6eac3027664.jpg
Checked the cattle and it was off to the shop.

The truck shed was a mess like the storage trailer so since I couldn’t do much else I picked stuff up in there.
b49835e0fd3c0a6732be124fcf8edb2f.jpg
We had a ton of empty chemical jugs so I picked all of them up. I loaded them all up and took them to the recycling center.

It’s not quite done, or perfect, but at least I can walk around in there.

Saturday I didn’t do a whole lot. Made some stops in town. Took care of the cattle.

Then I serviced my uncle’s truck. That was about it for the day.

Sunday was another late start. After taking care of the cattle and cleaning up the shop we decided to try cutting some beans.
36176a6368a20928c807c889b7eb1468.jpg
So dad and I moved the 9500 to the field and gave it a shot. Things were drier than we thought they’d be so we went on with it. Cut a truck load before dark.

So Monday started with some unexpected jobs. I checked on the cattle and fed them.
a271d8f15f1c666c7600274a2ff9d76c.jpg
Ole About Time decided to tear through the fence. I guess the younger bull on the other side, constantly taunting him, finally got the best of him.
900d6e61675310deb7c43657045a73e1.jpg
I didn’t have anything with me so I did a temporary fix and grabbed a couple gates from the barn to keep any others from getting through.
4139f56259acdc72141cfc24a3cf97f3.jpg
I got about time on his side, got things to fix the fence and left the gates there for now to further deter them.

I also had to fix another spot in the fence that I think was actually due to deer.

After finally being done with the cattle I started in on unloading the truck load of beans dad cut Sunday evening.

Dad got started with the 9500.
29fc4be48055af9e376080f23082c66f.jpg
So my uncle and I set out to cut some beans on another farm.
4152405df12579c112d40377869dea44.jpg
We tried the one spot in the bottom but they weren’t quite as ready as we’d hoped.
e797ab976ab253bc3a976deac2c7dcdc.jpg
So we went just up the road to the hill farm we just started farming this year. They were ready to go.
9c6fc7dcab938ac1f323aea6ab9a0994.jpg
So we were finally getting something done.
7162781b10e70089f5b1b05294df3eb1.jpg
I also unloaded for dad too.
a261351c7a48e6440cd97aa90caf0dae.jpg
He finished at the field we was at so I helped him move to another field on the very back of that farm.

We rolled as long as we could. But both my dad and uncle had somewhere they each had to be so we had to quit a little early.

On a side note. I really hate this time of year when it’s dark by 5. It drives me crazy.

Then on to Tuesday...
d6ea830a111318fa995744f25d44467c.jpg
We had a bit of a set back. Late in the night Monday and unexpected shower came through and made things wet enough to screw things up on getting in the field at a decent time.

But my mid-morning the sun was out. We’d finally filled the last big bin with beans.
cb8a96c93ee232d7fd24bb65b4217e9f.jpg
So we moved on to one of the smaller ones.
0cc3513d2ed966fe563e7efaea124baa.jpg

But come late afternoon we were able to get back in the field.

Dad finished in the field he was in. So we moved the 9500 and the truck back to the shop.

My uncle kept going.

Being this was the farm we were offered to farm pretty late in the season we didn’t really get to do much work to it before we planted. There were several places we parts of old fence rows are up and we had to take part of it and a few small trees out in order to get the header through to that part of the field.

It was well after dark by the time the field was finished but we got it done and took everything back to the shed for the night.

Then we come to Wednesday. Rain was expected. I kept an eye on it Tuesday. The rain chances went from late Wednesday night, to early in the evening, then to late afternoon.

By early Tuesday morning when I woke up the rain chance had moved to about noon, 11 at the earliest. But we knew if we moved right away we could finish the next patch we were going to do with the 9500.
8c36aa1d515bad3592b7f0f195d4caed.jpg
I quickly fed the calf and heifers.
a0024de3d0374e643f6e91efb732e6d7.jpg
Then we set out, despite the clouds. I had a notice on my phone that now, by 7 we would have a chance of a shower. By this time the rain was set to arrive 12 hours before the time the said it would 12 hours before that.

Dad said the hell with it. So we headed out.
6b9067779f2b769fbdf0a05804868f13.jpg
We got a little over half way to the next farm and I started getting rain on the windshield. At least we had a shed to park the combine in. I checked the radar when we parked. Sure enough, it was going to be more than what they said.
24f39f9250b8f5b08eb3c443a774fc51.jpg
We headed down the road and I unloaded one of the trucks from the night before, dad hauled the other load off for one of the land lords. By the time I unloaded it was full on raining.

Since things were at a stand still again I tried to find something else to do.
2b9c4a71a52081e809083e0973354ec5.jpg
The tandem truck had been running warm. I knew the coolant didn’t look the best. So I decided to flush it out. The truck is too long to fit in the shop and close the doors, especially with the hood open. So I pulled it in the truck shed.
f5ecbdde7c31a419af928cd2a151667b.jpg
It was the perfect time to use my Atlas46 mat. Which is really comfortable.
5f8a081963636fceaf6fbe33cfc26593.jpg
I made a trip to town for some cleaner, since I was out, and made a few more stops. I flushed it out twice, took it for a drive each time to get things warmed up and circulated.

While waiting on the truck to cool down I checked on the cattle and fed mineral.

Then I messed with some things in the shop for awhile.

I put everything away in the shed as there was a chance for more rain overnight in to the morning.

Then we arrive to today, Thursday. Sure enough we had rain. Although it didn’t amount to as much as the weather man called for.
202590f59091360d868d995416ae5f9c.jpg
After feeding I flushed the truck cooling system one more time.

The rain was bringing in a cold front. Like well below freezing cold front, at least the lows anyway, for a few days. So I decided to take care of some cold weather prep.

I pumped some air brake anti-freeze in both of the trailer trucks. Hopefully, to avoid any problems in the near future.

Dad took the tandem for a drive get a load of gravel for the driveway.

After he returned I put the coolant back in the truck and took it for another short drive.

So it looked like it was good to go and the system was finally clean after 3 good flushes.

I decided to go ahead and test the coolant in the other trucks and tractors too with the cold setting in.

Everything checked out good.

A few little notes for the week.
45e792a258e682ba4ed191408aaedac1.jpg
My cheap pinpointing metal detector came in handy this week. Helped me locate a short little screw I dropped in the gravel. Found it in less than a minute.

I ordered a little cutoff wheel.
e2ed29b5b910fbfe91e72d59d1637153.jpg
I’m hoping to make an oil filter cutter of some sort soon.
0fc033525adc71a167af899c1dda19f9.jpg
I have a cheap one from Jeg’s but it doesn’t work for all of the tractor filters. I need something with a little more depth. Is it necessary? Maybe not. But I’d like to check the filters, especially some of the transmissions to check for debris. Plus, if the filter element is removed and drained all the metal can go on the scrap pile.

I also made up a hose to test the steering meter for the 8760.
969390527c631b87bb8f76626b9b3763.jpg
Not sure when I’ll get around to it. But it’s something I’d like to do. I think a leak in it may be part of a steering issue we’re having with it.

I cleaned out my can full of miscellaneous left overs from different things.
dfee39ec35a476fa7dc358f02d0d55b0.jpg
Some of it went to scrap, some put away with alike parts/hardware.
85e0152f7fcbd65592e3147f7d72a88a.jpg
I also added some more little bins to the toolbox. To house some of those little miscellaneous things and the like.

29044c5215b6b65e39bc4efb60ede7a2.jpg
I picked up some new spouts and vents for several gas jugs that dad was aggravated with and ready to toss.

163a225bad7e1429335db44b1fe76b46.jpg
Cleaned up and reorganized my lube cart. I’m still looking at and thinking of ideas to improve and set it up how I’d like. Not sure what to do with my big funnels. All my smaller ones are in the toolbox on top.

c4adfce8de376b2563f76be8dc142567.jpg
I also capped up all the hoses I’m keeping on the cart that I’ve used to assist me in draining and filling things. The caps all being some of those spare/left over/recycled parts from other things that I’ve held on to.

5e04d869bea6225821e9e107cad1cae4.jpg
Then I also cut out the dividers in 3 more DeWalt boxes. Not sure what I’ll use any of them for just yet. But at least the can be used for something besides one specific drill with a battery charger.

There we go. All caught up for now. Last few weeks haven’t been the most eventful. But I guess we at least got a few things done.

The one things the weather man is going to be right about this week is the cold air. I’m not ready for that.

Corn price just keeps falling. Beans went up some, but nothing too exciting yet.

Possible more chances or rain on the way. The river isn’t really going down any.

Cold air is going to be hard on the cattle and they’ll really be wanting the hay after this latest round really settles in.

But all in all only 40 acres of beans to go. If we could get one real good day in we could finish up. Forty acres of beans, and mowing around the last few fields. That should just about wrap it up. We may end up drilling a little more rye as cover crop in a few places. But that all depends on the weather too. We‘ll see.

" Last few weeks haven’t been the most eventful" Man I feel like you put in 12 hour days everyday when I see the amount of work done. I'm on a 6 month house project that I have been putting in 7-8 hours per day 6 days a week. When I look at your post I think to myself "shut up" "quit bitching the amount of work going into our house", So it may seem like you got a few things done but your few things are many small things that add up.
Good luck on the weather, Out here in Oregon we have had sunshine for the last 2 weeks while my roof was torn off down to the rafters, very rare here. Again thank you for sharing, it helps me through the day.

It always just amazes me how many mechanical jobs you know how to do! Hard to believe how many motorized devices you guys have to take care of on a farm.

Quick note to say thanks for all the time and effort you put into this thread. I look forward to following along each day.
I grew up on a farm raising hogs (now fat cattle) and still help my dad when I can. Much smaller operation than the acres you farm but more than enough to keep one family busy.

Well I usually do put in at least 12 hours a day. There have been a few days with in the last couple weeks that I did work under 10 hours. Don’t beat yourself up though. Working on a house, especially a roof, can definitely be work. I can’t say my carpentry skills are that great. I try to avoid that type of thing.

I can’t say I always know what I’m doing. But I try. But you’re right, there are a large variety of things to work on. That can sometimes make things aggravating.

Alright so let’s get back to it. We left off at Friday.
4be4755b708e1d52a18f740ace7eddab.jpg
Started the day off taking care of the cattle.
e9e09472abe4f07d56656c0aeb28e135.jpg
Didn’t have anything with me to pop this guy if I found sitting out in the field.

It was pretty cold Friday morning. Cold enough it froze up a couple of the waterers.

8b248ba4aeb194350347ac580c9b66cb.jpg
All the cattle had hay ate up so I put out hay to all of them.

But then I ran into a problem.
c05b187a274384f5b1744f873b42657f.jpg
I tried to pick up a bale of rye and out of nowhere the bale spear on the 7230 just snapped right in two. So it was back to the shop to get the 4020 instead.

The sun came out and started the thaw the frozen, muddy ground. That made things a pain in the *** for the 4020.
b0d86ba62c8d4438ccca350b6fc8585b.jpg
Dad decided to help me out when I got the 4020. He picked up a rye bale with the carrier on the rear and picked it up before it was all the way on and bent the **** out of the carrier. So things slowed down even more.

So after getting all the what out we tried to get the carrier back in shape.
538790d5ab1f40f4cab1ceee948adfdc.jpg
We stopped to get some things done but it still needs some adjusting and some welding.

Then I needed to grind some feed. The bin we loaded corn from last still has some corn left from last year. So I set up the auger to work on getting some of it out.
7846dd4ffe12941b8fb117d51585f67c.jpg
So I set to sweeping it out.
40c81939b6989f378410bc8137ab107d.jpg

I ground 3 batches and by then it wasn’t long til dark. Dad left to go bow hunting and mentioned a guy was coming by to talk about some seed corn. So I had to stick around and wait for him.
a31d95cf2392af921acc82ace0f35db6.jpg
So while I waited for him I cleaned up the shop, swept and put away a bunch of stuff dad had out.
437517b34c37e53deb84744d486b2b2d.jpg
Got that done and was still waiting.

So while I was waiting I decided to get out a valve that was from the 1990 drill we had problems with.de101c45f8d3bb6c06a4e77f091541a3.jpg
I took it apart to try and find the issue we had with it. I’m not sure what it needs. But the parts for it from Deere are crazy expensive. It has the original manufacturer’s name on it with some potential part numbers but I haven’t had time to look for them yet.

b36214b7f44e8d60da53e63f0a4c10b6.jpg
But the guy finally showed. Another company saying they got the good stuff.

Saturday I had some help. Noah joined me.

We went around to check on all the cattle and feed them. We also put out mineral.
742da31168cf999a3926b039ff46bf92.jpg
We made a trip to the recycling center, picked up some feed for the calf, mineral tubs for the cattle and got a new bale spear for the 7230.

We put out hay at the retirement farm.

We also decided to take a shot at combing beans. So by early afternoon we got the truck and combine moved to the field and got dad started with the 9500.

While dad ran the combine Noah and I headed back to the shop to move some stuff around.
6cb330b897ed659b8ec3daa1293a0103.jpg
We took the 4440 and grain cart to the bottom to put it in the shed. We were done with it for fall. We also moved the 8300 drill that we had hooked to 4010 just to get it out for the way for now.

We also tried to get the deer cooler prepped to be ready for next weekend too.

Dad finished up in the 20 acre field he was at. So we moved the combine down the road to the field in the bottom. By the time we did that it was after dark so we called it a day.

"Another company saying they got the good stuff." LOL

Spent tues, wed, thurs helping inlaws with harvest in central Illinois. While waiting in line 60 minutes to get dumped, high school classmate came over to chat and give me a brochure to pass on about "a super duper good deal on a fantastic producer" Now, I just happen to drive by their test plot and some of their fields every time back and forth to elevator. Just happen to notice the "super duper producer" classmate was pushing was not even good enough to be included in their test plot or any of their own fields. Stopped and took a picture showing all the varieties and numbers and waited to ambush him next time he came over to fake buddy buddy me and oh yeah, push my brand for me. :) look on his face at the pictures and stuttering but but but LOL

So no break on Sunday. Noah joined me again today. We checked the cattle. Today was a nice day. Temperature in the upper 60’s. So we decided to get the 9770 cleaned up.
4d694f15c85e29b9aa7d345ab23561a5.jpg
341efa14f6aa16637606a631c764d122.jpg
We used the leaf blowers on it, took all the shields off of it, cleaned the grain tank out good, then I had Noah use the air hose on it to get more of the dirt off.

Dad decided to take a chance on getting the last beans in the bottom out. So while he did that Noah and I kept on cleaning the combine.
b80de38a2de3c0f2dc88ffa74a97f6f6.jpg
I did a few small jobs while Noah started washing the 9770.

Despite the fact the beans weren’t quite dry dad decided to combine them.
5eb6cc4987f768cb2355d6bbce6c1740.jpg
So that was it. That was the last 20 acres. Harvest 2019 is officially done. I’m glad. It’s been one hell of a year.

So we moved the 9500 back to the shop. I started cleaning the dirt off of it while Noah continued on the 9770.
6be08abb202fa07304bb5b0d94f6b14d.jpg

So we finished getting the 9770 all cleaned up after dark.
8b7817a6b69361aa91e5f57298a85d4d.jpg
I wanted to get them cleaned up as much as possibly today. Rain on the way tomorrow, that may turn to snow. Tuesday isn’t even going to be above freezing. Slightly warmer after that. But it’s going to be a cold week this week.

So beans are out. Combines are almost cleaned up all the way. Not a bad weekend. Might be able to take a bit of a breath now. Although there’s plenty to get started on now.

The corn we got from this guy last year was the worst corn we had this year. One variety had quite a bit of damage from ear worms. Then he told me he had damage on the same variety in a field of his. Then he says that variety was supposed to be resistant to ear worms. Then tried talking me into trying some more of it next year...I’m not interested. I told him we’d let him know next week.

The skeptic in me thinks the company put an incentive bonus on pushing this stuff out of inventory and my "good buddy" is all about it.

Well today was not very productive. It was nasty out too.

Took care of the feeding.

Since we are done combining we took both combine headers back to the shed. Especially before the weather set in for the day.

But then the rain arrived. So after some
Paper work for some seed corn financing I went to the shop for awhile.

I unpacked my box of combine parts. Which was actually much more than what’s pictured.

The rain came in and turned into some sleep. The wind picked up and the temperature dropped.
cf4d16044574de04aae23138fc0362b8.jpg

So I decided to get some things lined out for shop work.

I backed in the fuel trailer. We need a new pump on it. Also the weld around the full neck has a crack in it that needs attention.

fa39cbd855418ee2f2e0bf353f8fb566.jpg
Then I backed in the 2520 and 4010. The 2520 is due for an oil change he and regular service. The 4010 brakes still aren’t quite right either. It could use an oil change too.

So that was pretty much it. It was nasty outside. Then the sleet turned to snow. Then the roads got a little slick.
cbbb4356be535fc857419574204d20c6.jpg
I sold a California Wolf Whistle to a guy for my grandpa this evening too.

Then I spent some time doing some online looking for a planter. We’re thinking about making some changes.

Tuesday was another cold one. Little slick in places too.
f3411de37f06928880d74dd02a190504.jpg
I checked on all the cattle and put out hay. The cows and even the calves seemed to be taking the first heavy round of winter weather fairly well.

However, the waterers weren’t. Three out the the 6 were froze up. Luckily, we were able to get all of them going fairly quick.

By afternoon I was able to stay warmer in the shop.
fec305f73497ea7916db29073134bca6.jpg
I got started looking things over on the 2520.
d2549d9fd3f53644dabac42a6e711de5.jpg
Engine oil and filter were due for a change. I drained the hydraulic oil to check it out, replace the filter and check the screen/filter below the transmission once. Also, found one of the front wheel bearings needs attention and also one of the tie rods ends is getting a little loose. So the plan is to repack and tighten up both wheel bearings on the front axle. Then go ahead and replace the tie rod ends on both sides.

That was the highlights of the day at least. I wasn’t quite ready for it to get this cold this soon. But not much I can do about it. Just glad we got the beans out before this arrived.

Wednesday started as usual.

They’re definitely going after the hay now that this cold spell hit and brought this snow.

Luckily, only one of the waterers had an issue. It was only a stick float too. So just took a second to loosen the screws on the cover and give it a couple quick bumps with my fist and the float came loose.

Decided to take out some of the stock of tools, especially power tools, out of the truck for awhile. I shouldn’t be needing some of them for anything for awhile, at least I hope.

Progress in the shop was a bit interrupted this afternoon.
448af65cadd921af97e4846b7f059a2f.jpg
The seed guy from last Friday stopped by to get our order for some seed for spring. Gave us some “free” stuff while we was there too.

Got the parts for the 2520 axle.

19a43dcbeccbb8ba098fa71a5d2416b6.jpg
I got all the oil back in the 2520. But then drained some of the fuel out of the tank. The fuel gauge hasn’t been reading quite right. So I drained the fuel out to allow some movement of the sender. Not sure what’s going on exactly. If it’s the sender or the gauge. It’s not that the gauge doesn’t show anything. It’s just that it seems to be off some.

But that work was a little interrupted too. Dad decided to go bow hunting this afternoon and ended up getting a young deer just before dark.
a9e659c73350f8d246483170faf9bd57.jpg
So I had to assist with retrieving, gutting, and skinning it before I left for the evening.

That was about it for the day. Didn’t really get anything done exactly.

So as I’d mentioned I was trying to find a set up for engine and hydraulic oil around the shop for oil changes and things. I think I may have found a solution.

It arrived today. I wasn’t expecting it until tomorrow. But since it came early that means I may be able to give it a try tomorrow. We’ll see how it goes. I’m looking forward to trying it.

A bit expensive. But if it works like it supposed to and works like I hope it will it should be perfect. It looks like just the thing I was looking for. Once I try it out and see if I like it I may expand on it a little bit to get things set up good. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.

Between the River Hills & the River Bottom

I’m interested in seeing what you bought!

I just sold my 100 gallon cube last week. Sold on the second day it was listed.

It had a nice 6 mm formed steel worktop and was skid mounted and easily moved with a pallet jack or forks.

I only have a half dozen machines left around the farm and all the truck lubes are farmed out and done with their annual MVI’s.

That’s a little more than I think I’d need. The set-up I went with is definitely a smaller scale than that. I’m trying it as I’m typing this. I have to say I’m a little disappointed in it. ...I may have to look for something else.

Not much to report from today.
d4618a63947f1c24979fc9094c5622e8.jpg
Checked the cattle and fed the heifers. I started giving the heifers some supplement that should put them all in sync to breed at the same time.

I didn’t get much done after that. I helped dad cut up deer meat from last night. Then dad wanted to set up yet another stand.

So I went back on an old rocky bluff hillside to help him put it up.

Since this weekend is the start of firearm deer season there’s sure to be activity at the shop. So I decided to clean things up a bit.
8d0a26721ce30006bef26174eba0d26d.jpg
But now stuff is really starting to pile up in my corner of the shop.

So like I said not much going on today. Unfortunately, everyone except for me is focused on nothing but deer season. So it’s tough to get things done.

So on to the purchase for the lube cart.
0bb87e99c6a38e16162ef8a9182d84c8.jpg
Ordered it Tuesday. It came Wednesday. I did quite a bit of looking. I found this and thought it looked like what I was looking for.
8a27dbccda8e66add5c155cf62490caf.jpg
I shopped around for prices. For what it is I didn’t think it was cheap. But like I said it’s what I was looking for. Made just for 5 gallon containers. Battery powered.

Now as I’ve mentioned before we have bulk JD engine and hydraulic oil in the shed.
69a92d62492a389ffdd1a704fe10086b.jpg
I’ve always used 2.5 gallon jugs for the oil. Going back and forth to fill them up for the likes of oil changes can take time and be annoying.

So I’ve also tried hand pumps.
d46bc86c40e22de71bb722f25327fa0b.jpg
But those aren’t quick either.

So today I set up the new pump.
6e607b61bd67ffefbf31d614fa43b825.jpg
The kit came with the stem for the bucket with the hose. Then the pump motor, a battery and charger. Everything was packaged nice. Each piece separately, plastic sealed up.
b27baad0bbe42a65af5c8c46ea2ca0ac.jpg
Said it was easy to use. Good and serviceable. Even had a parts list and repair.

The actually motor can detach from the stem. Nothing actually runs through it so there’s no contamination. That way I could have a stem in the engine oil container and one in the hydraulic oil container and I just have to pop the motor off one and snap it on the other. Simple. Easy.

It’s supposed to pump 1 gallon per minute. Any oil up to 75w-90. The battery is supposed to pump about 4 gallons per charge. Then a battery takes an hour to charge.
e2ee51ec0ef3f3d30429d2617a06c410.jpg
So it came with a few adaptors. But they wouldn’t fit the tops of the buckets. Luckily, the adaptor from my hand pumps fit the stem cap. I filled a bucket up and tried it out pumping it another empty bucket.
b48b3d17ba1a5efd013a1e19409a9957.jpg
c0d6a418d2ac165ec149c1d63254c9b7.jpg
The pump primes itself and took off almost immediately. It started out good. I set the stopwatch on my phone just to see if it would pump a gallon per minute.

So I was giving it the benefit of the doubt. The JD engine oil is 10W-40 so I figured it shouldn’t be any problem. But the oil was a little cold. So it was a little heavy.

I timed it...a five gallon bucket took 20 minutes. Not exactly time efficient. Instead of 1gpm it was 5 minutes per gallon...not impressed.

So I thought I’d give it another chance.
f437ffb632de5a6e72b13f65fe0236f2.jpg
I stuck it on the other bucket. I gave it a minute and tried it out. But this time it was worse. Over all the 5 gallons took...A HOUR...no joke. I timed it. It started out slow. Then it would just stop. It’d shut off almost as if it’d overheat. But it never did get hot. It felt a bit warm for a few minutes. But never hot. Then before the bucket was actually empty the battery just started dying. It wouldn’t work. So the second bucket took an hour and I only got 10 gallons out of a fully charged battery...not what I was expecting.

So I drained everything and boxed it all back up. I’m returning it for sure. I emailed the company and told them the problems after the first bucket full. They said that wasn’t how it should be working. So I emailed them again and told them the issues on the second bucket full and that I was returning it. I haven’t heard anything back. But that was later this evening. So I may hear something by tomorrow morning.

So that was a fail. If it worked the plan was to get a second stem, for hydraulic oil. Then a second battery. The bucket with the stem fit perfect on my cart. So the plan was to keep 10 gallons of each oil on the cart. Then modify the cart to hold the rest of the stuff. But so far I’m at a set back on it.

We’ll see if I hear anything from them tomorrow.

Between the River Hills & the River Bottom

An air pump, hose reel with digital metered handle for dispensing right into the machine’s fill tube will put a permanent smile on your face. [emoji3]

It’ll make you think about opening a JiffyLube for neighbouring farms.

I wouldn’t mind it...if it would work for the shop...but the half where the tanks are is still gravel. Plus, at least one door to go through. If the shop had been set up for today’s maintenance when it was built in the 70’s we could just plumb a pump and reel directly to the bulk tanks...so even though I’d like a setup similar to that I’m not sure it’ll work for me...for now at least.

Could you use this for the oil? Looks like the first reviewer uses it for oil.

I’ve looked at these. But I remember reading some reviews that didn’t recommend using them for oil. But I’m not sure. One down side being I don’t have any M18 stuff so I’d have to get the full set up.

Then I’ll likely be tempted to get that M18 3/4” impact. Of corse I’d have to take out a small loan to get that thing.
