We started beans a few days ago finally. Feels GOOD to be being it all in finally !!

How's it busheling so far down there ??

Does that auger have those foamy carefreetire.com tires on the swing hopper ?? Our new one has them and they all four looked flat when we filled it with beans and I was grouchy at first because I thought all four were flat :lol_hitti

I’m not completely sure but I think it’s been around the 170-180 range where we’re at right now.

Yeah the swing hopper has the care free tires on it. They’re not bad. It’s nice since they never go flat. But they do not do so well in larger gravel when they have a little bit of weight in them.

So back to corn yesterday. First started off the morning hauling in a few loads of hay that we had made on Sunday. It was a damp, foggy, dew filled morning anyway so we waited a bit to start corn.

Once we did start we hit it pretty hard. Got over about 80 acres yesterday. 130 finished total. I was unloading trucks all day. Not much action for me.

I filled one of the bigger bins. So I moved the auger to the newest bin and started filing it.

We ran until we finished our field in the bottom, which was right after sundown. So we finished unloading the trucks and got things ready to move for today.

Man that 2520 is looking sharp. Lotta people looking for those these days due to their handy size and rarity.

Goodluck on harvest. Iowa just got soaked again so there will be a brief pause before we hit high gear on harvest.

Thanks. They bought the 2520 back probably 13 or 14 years ago. My brother-in-law was doing some auto body stuff at the time. He painted it back then. It definitely is handy. Main jobs for it is just hay in the summer and running the augers in fall. It still gets a good 100 hours on it each year.

Well the last few days have been pretty busy. We’ve been after the corn pretty hard. We’d finished in our field in the bottom. It turned out pretty well. We don’t exactly have all the stuff figured up.
f1b51d917e39bd580cd73a865c1427cb.jpg
We also used some time in the mornings to gather up the hay on the levee.
b97ed3f1ef081cfeae37bafb5cab6a9e.jpg
We moved to a hill farm and I kept running the trucks. The farm in the hills didn’t yield quite as much as the but still wasn’t bad.

We managed to miss a few pop up showers in between things. So luckily we were able to keep going.

Although the rain may have been a bit of a relief from the heat. The temperatures and humidity for the week have been record highs in areas for this time of the year.

By the end of Wednesday we had 2 big bins full of corn.

Thursday I was at it well before the sun came up. Fed all the calves. Moved the auger to the other big bin, got things greased up and ready to go.

We really got some **** done Thursday. We kept everything going full speed all day long. We managed to finished the 103 acres up in the hills. So we decided to move to the other bottom field that evening.

Everything was working good and we were in sync just right we decided to keep going after dark. Especially due to the chances of rain.

I think I unloaded 15 truck loads by the end of the day.

Putting in a 17 hour day makes me feel like I might have actually got something done for once.

Got up this morning and checked on the cattle at the retirement farm first thing, fed the calves. It was a nice cooler breezy morning. No fog, no dew. We were planning on getting started on corn first thing.

Unfortunately, the lying damn weather people got it wrong again. As soon as we got to the field you could see it coming.
0ea6990f78ef441e275011af26d40197.jpg
So down the road to the sheds we went.
039db38110975dfc3482bba295335778.jpg
6dd3cc72979ca830072a4fd4d79aed10.jpg
We made it to the sheds just before it came down too much. It was just enough to kind of screw things up for the day. It stayed cloudy for the most part. So we all did a few odd jobs. Checked cattle, ground feed, things like that. I also had to get a tank of oxygen for my grandpa’s torch/welder at his jewelry store.
Dad and I have also been reviewing the results for the yield monitoring via our FieldView set up.
8cabe58c4ae666988097dd6b4c2b67ec.jpg
I think the yield results from FieldView and the monitoring in the combine have actually been showing the yield a bit higher than what it actually is. But we’ll see later on.

Chances of rain overnight, Saturday all the way through Tuesday. Pretty decent chances too. So it may be awhile til we get back in the corn fields. We’ll see how it plays out. But I know we’ll have plenty of jobs to do if it does.

Plus I’ll have plenty of jobs to do on the house if it rains as well...

So as mentioned it rained Friday. Saturday morning came and it rained some more. It actually rained the majority of Saturday. Followed by a few light showers on Sunday. The main activity for the weekend was getting things for projects for the house.

So today arrived and as usual I started with feeding.
20d9f349b7c2092f02b37bcfb0829677.jpg
This morning also brought a little more rain. Quite a few clouds as well. More mosquitoes too!

Last week I noticed that both trailer trucks were losing a bit more of air than usual when sitting for a little while. So I decided to investigate.
5af9e763e4aa253bc2c3b5b4c3ebc7f1.jpg
d25cd4413217cefe309c618f67aa65ed.jpg
I definitely found a few places leaking some air. Luckily dad had to run down south for some things that is also where the International dealer is. So he stopped in to get a few things to. Take care of the air leaks.

Also, last week we found an oil leak on the floorboard of the 7230. I knew it had to be from the steering. So I checked in to that.
Turns out it wasn’t a hose like I thought it’d be. It appeared to be the seal on the pump itself. The only way to actually see the seal and top of the pump was to remove it. Which of corse required disassembling the whole dash piece.
41d501c14b5c983b22a24870f36ce18c.jpg
The pump is tucked up in a nice little tight spot with 5 hoses going to it.
fbaeebd114575a069ea3e5edb06c3d17.jpg
But I have to say it was the perfect job for my Martin flarenut wrenches and my SK angel wrench. Which I really wish they’d make again!
3fde5fb662eed59525c129ae606636af.jpg
So after removing it and cleaning things up a bit I decided to look at the manual to see how difficult it would be to repair.
f7e23e1f7ece797e1b0cfe0368c0abbb.jpg
It didn’t seem to crazy difficult to rebuild. Although according to the book it required a few specialty tools, as usual, to rebuild. So I called Deere to check on a rebuild kit or if I could at least get the seal to replace. But, as it would be my luck, Deere doesn’t offer a rebuild kit, nor a seal. The only way to “fix” it is to buy a new one. No it’s not a remanufactured part either. So you don’t get anything for a core. To make things better, as you probably guessed, they want over $1,000 for a new one too.

So it took over an hour to get it out. The leak didn’t appear terrible. But naturally leaks only get worse. So it brings the question of, do I spend over an hour putting this one back it only to have the leak and possibly the working ability of it worsen just to spend even more time removing it again later and still spending over $1,000 to put in a new one? Or do we just let Deere stick it to us and get it over with? Either way it’ll likely be $1,000. Even though I don’t consider my time to be worth anything, it’s also worth everything at the same time. Just another day.

One the other hand while taking things apart I did find my missing 4mm Craftman hex wrench.
0c2b91fee67f1aaa028e26583e7e7b49.jpg
If you’ve been following along you may recall when dad busted out the windshield on the 7230 earlier this year? That was when this 4mm went missing. I guess I managed to drop it in the disassembled part of the dash while in the process of putting in the windshield. Which just makes me think of how expensive of a year it’s been for the 7230. $780 windshield, another $700+ just to do a full service on it, now $1,000+ again. That’s not even counting the general wear and tear, or all the diesel fuel it’s sucked down this year. Welcome to farming I guess.

Thanks for the great pictures of the Sun rise. Your family does great work. Did you let the kid go before school?

Thanks. Yeah Zack went back to school mid August. I don’t remember if I mentioned it or not. But he did spend last Thursday with me. He was off school for parent teacher conferences. He put in 15 hours with me. Needless to say he was done for sure.

So overnight/early morning we had more rain. Two inches to be exact. So things were soaked. Again. It’ll definitely be a few days before we’re back in the field.
94a6bf2709abe3c796eff15ae3190b82.jpg
I fed all the calves corn this morning, also checked the grain bins. Just to make sure the fans and stir all’s were running correctly.

I put out mineral to all the cattle. I had some plans to work on things. But unfortunately, dad had other plans. He wanted help to clean out his garage. The side where moms Ford Edge is supposed to go was full of furniture that had belonged to my great aunt who passed away a few years ago.

My great aunt had lived alone, her third husband had passed away years before. She didn’t have any of her own children and her only step son had passed away just a few months before her. So when it came time to move her belongings it was left to my dad and a few of his siblings. Furniture was supposed to go to several of them. However, no one really had the room for furniture. So majority of it ended up in my dad’s garage. He wanted it out. So now that I have this new place I decided to take a few pieces. Most of them need some work though.

So moving that stuff took awhile. Then I had several errands to run in town. Then I worked on a few jobs at my house.

So I should be back to work on more things tomorrow. Another little chance of rain overnight again. Who knows if it actually will or not.

I also ended up ordering a new pump for that 7230. It should arrive in the morning. So putting that in is for sure high priority on the to do list.

Last night I also picked up some new tools!

d0a64785d2c25130ec9cae67433160eb.jpg
Milwaukee M12 3/8” impact kit with charger and 2 batteries. I got a 1/4” M12 ratchet with it free too. Got it from the Matco guy. He also gave me a free new hoodie with it too. I think they’ll both definitely be handy.

New tools at the house too. Bought a new Fiskars looper and hedge shears today. There’s some bushes that need tended too. I’ve never owned any before. They’re supposed to have a lifetime warranty. I picked them up with a new U.S. made yard rake from my local True Value.

In addition to that I also purchased some new storage accessories for the service truck. Included 2 DeWalt TStak boxes to use for some tools to store in the truck too. I’m sure there will be pictures to come when I get around to that project.

So hopefully I can get some things done tomorrow.

John Deere may not offer the seal for that pump, but maybe it's an off the shelf Item you can get from an auto parts store? Worth tearing it down to see at least :)

I’ll second that. It’s surprising the oddball seals my hydraulic shop finds for me.

Unfortunately, the only place in town you could refer to as a hydraulic shop around here just closed up a few months ago.

Any time I seem to mention tractor or hydraulic at most the auto parts stores they are completely lost. They have no clue what your talking about. My concern is being able to remove the seal without destroying it. It also looked like a good amount of the pump had to come apart before being able to actually remove the seal. I’m not sure if I’d be able to actually locate something or not.

Woke up yet again to another light rain shower. Cool front came in over night. It was actually just a bit chilly this morning.

Fed the calves as always this morning. Then dad and I set to working on the air leaks on the trucks.
b416fd37206fd7e4d2de2cf9f85bb160.jpg
Including this air dryer for one of them.

For lunch dad and I went with a rep for a local seed/farm supply store. He took us for lunch and talked to us about offering some scouting services and making grids to take soil samples using the info for our FieldView Climate maps from harvest.

As far as the 7230 goes we got the new pump. This evening I went to putting it back in.
57c4645d863965d906797e5941d3d1bd.jpg
Does that look like $1,100? At least I got to keep the plugs that they use for packaging. I always like keeping them.

As you can see this seal is in good shape. I’m not sure how easy it would’ve been to find this specific seal. Not to mention who’s to say there wasn’t something else potentially wrong inside the pump that could’ve caused the seal to leak anyway.
fb36fe230c8b420e4d12f326c913a84c.jpg
After a couple hours, fighting stupid plastic interior pieces. I got it back together. Everything is working properly, so that’s always a good thing.

Today’s tool of the day is definitely my Martin 15/16” flarenut wrench. It was perfect for the damn hydraulic lines to the steering pump. It was a tight spot. It would’ve been extremely hard to get things tightened up with a regular 15/16” even my SK angle wrench which has a slightly smaller open end couldn’t fit. Using a flarenut crowfoot would’ve been difficult as well.

My Matco guy hooked me up with these Martin wrenches. They don’t make a set so you have to buy them each singly. I think they’re usually at least a good $40 a piece or so. In the shop I have 11/16” - 1-1/2”. In the truck I believe I have 13/16” - 1-1/2”. Similar to ones Snap-On used to make. Also, the same idea of the old Bonney wrenches as well. Those are great wrenches too. But these Martin’s are shorter and awesome for tight spots. Highly recommended for hydraulic work!

Did you keep the old pump so that when you have a quiet day you could take it apart to see if you could repair it?

I did keep it. I’m letting the oil drain out of it overnight. When I get a chance in the next day or so I’m going to clean it up and try to plug up the ports on it. Maybe this winter I can take a look at it. Add it to the list of about 4 other old parts for possible repair.

Thursday arrived with yet another surprise rain shower. Just enough to keep us out of the fields again. Luckily by late afternoon there was plenty of sunshine and a breeze to dry things off a bit.

I started the day feeding the calves as always. Since several of the big calves have been looking a bit sick as of late we decided to separate the sick ones from the rest.
515c7cfbe73c846451dab3d898e0a952.jpg
We’re still giving them some medicated crumbles with their feed. They seem to be improving a bit.

We were then surprised by a visit from another local seed guy. He hung around for about 2 hours. He works for the place we buy quite a bit of seed from, our fertilizer, anhydrous, and majority of our mineral, salt blocks, and supplements for the cattle. He also used to work for the local competition that took us out to lunch the day before.

We still had some corn left in the grinding bin. We wanted to clean it out so we could fill the bin with new corn soon.
99cad7f43e941a8ac836709a46cfbd19.jpg
So I ended up grinding 6 batches of feed before I emptied out the bin.
32de752b86a6dc666194a3d2409773df.jpg
Since all that grinding took up most of the day that was about it besides some yard work.

This morning we had plans to get something done for once. I got up early to check the cattle at the retirement farm and to give them a bit of corn
e6817544abca12aa290ebd0577505d6b.jpg
It was a bit of a damp and very dewy morning but for about the first time in a week the sun actually came up. No rain either.
db09f4ac6ffbb42b74ed65dbee16509d.jpg
So I made sure all the calves were fed
f10ff0b5cb2397d0b9ccb9184fddbe77.jpg
It was still very damp and dewy out. So I decided to rearrange some things in the truck for a bit. I’ll post that separately.

Since it looked like we’d finally be able to get in the field by the afternoon dad and I moved thing out of the sheds.
7272eca638ab95c38c9ce1d602eb14fd.jpg
We moved the combine back to the bottom and got the 8400 and grain cart out of the bottom shed and to the field.

Later I checked on the corn in the bins
5b2541ca4d650fbb3fee70d1b9806a47.jpg
It’s gradually drying a bit

By about 11 we jumped in the trailer trucks and went to the field to try things out.
ca6acd8f919b36d9206db8e336305ada.jpg
Things were for the most part fairly dry. Except for a spot or two holding water yet.
73875701515c6a2a5a4f25d54d0c372b.jpg
Dad’s buddy came down to help us again so I started back on the trucks
d5c1e53fa0ffd697e62b745cf1dca89b.jpg
By mid afternoon we finished the field in the bottom and set out to a field in the hills.

I ended up filling up the last big bin

855e74b7215c3ea4b717ea45d13088c2.jpg
I finished it up just before dark. So dad and I loaded both trucks so they’re ready for tomorrow morning.

So in the morning we’ll move the auger to the first of the smaller bins and start filling them. Get both trucks unloaded and then hopefully we can get back at it again and knock some more out.

It looks like we should at least have a few clear days to get some stuff done. Hopefully we can put a pretty big dent in the corn before it decides to rain more. It’d be fine it would hold off until about next weekend. But I doubt it.

Today I did the usual rise and feed the calves routine. I lubed up all the grease fittings and chains on the auger. We moved it to the first of the smaller bins.
89d14da307add47985092644411efabf.jpg
I unloaded both trucks that we had filled last night.

I loaded things up and dad and I went up the road to fuel up and grease the combine. I also lubed all the chains.

We were able to start up on corn reasonably early since there was a good breeze this morning and wasn’t really any dew. We only had one minor inconvenience. One of the gathering chains on the header and a sprocket bearing went out (I didn’t get a picture of it). Luckily both are parts that I keep multiple of on hand at the shop. I’d usually have them loaded up in a box on the truck just in case. Unfortunately, that was one thing I’d failed to load up. At least it was less than 10 minutes to the shop to pick the stuff up.

Other than that we kept rolling. I filled one bin and moved the auger to start on a second.
39d18104e350edb61585f8dc9913f436.jpg

We managed to finish off the 80+ field we start yesterday and moved out to the retirement farm to start out there.
baa20ccb7ba3a0d2888a8dac1815eba6.jpg

We rolled til a little after dark this evening
bb7487e8ef79454937bb6f707916f81c.jpg
We have a truck ready to be unloaded in the morning which is what I’ll start with first thing.

We’re really closing in on finishing up with the corn. Luckily all chances of rain for the week seem to be gone now. But we’ll see how that hold up. Another 3 days or so and we should be able to just about wrap things up. Which would be really good.

I’ll have to make the post on my tool and supply arrangement on the truck. I’m up for ideas or suggestions on what else I should possibly include or some storage options. Options to make things easier or more convenient.

Greetings from Southern Illinois, about 50 miles straight east of you :)

If interested, I can connect you with a 30+ year old Southern Illinois company that specializes in Hydraulics. Would think they could rebuild your pump.

Back to things again this morning. Fed all the calves. Saw the first flock of geese heading south this morning.

It definitely won’t be getting cold here any time soon. I’d imagine they’ll be in the area for quite awhile.

I got the combine and 8400 both ready to go this morning. We got going as soon as we could on corn again.8dc9ea0b7d7db6195f27646689797ac2.jpg
I topped off one of the smaller bins this morning and finished another one off this evening.

We finished up with the retirement farm, which seems so far to be almost the best corn we’ve had so far. f9fcd4f55fbd7b3af70ba2a648d399bc.jpg
Luckily, we had a little help to get things moved a little quicker. We moved on down the road to the last farm we have in corn this year.

It’s a hilly damn place. I’ll be interested to see how it comes out. Also be interested to see how many places have washed due to this late summer rains we had.
05a618b0f30a13c72154f09d68df6169.jpg
After we finished moving everything dad and I got back to it. But just for a little while. We only filled one truck and dad decided to quit a little early.
da78ce9f0dceafe6d3f4669bcae1e4f9.jpg
We finished up things just before dark for the day. Another good 2 solid days and we should have the corn all out of the field. Although we’re running a bit low on bin space. But for some of the shared rent ground we’ll probably be hauling some loads off to the barges, as soon as we have some dry, for the land lord’s parts.

Quite envious that you're so far along with corn !! We're so far from starting corn we're not even sure our combine remembers what corn is :lol_hitti

Whatcha building in the background ??

Don’t feel bad. I went across the river to Illinois yesterday and there are guys over there already halfway done with beans already.

Background is a new building my uncle (one of the ones not associated with the farm). He’s the one who’s worked construction and lives next to my dad. He tore down his old two car garage that only had gravel and is updating to concrete with a larger shed that he can also store and clean his camper in. So other than using our 7230 for destruction and some construction, we haven’t really been involved.

I love all of the pictures and information you put on here!! Keep up the great work! It is amazing how many jobs you have/do as a farmer.

Thanks

Monday came and after feeding we got at it. We were able to get a some what early start in the field so we tried to knock a fair amount out.ac6ad861bf4a8c391ea61740d5ee9e77.jpg
I filled a few more of the smaller bins up.

We managed to knock a pretty good chunk out of what was left. Although partially due to a variety of a brand of corn we’ve never planted before. The yield on it ended up very poor. We definitely were not impressed. Luckily, we didn’t have that planted over the whole field though.0d8d191d7aaf2935aea5883a29725af3.jpg
Due to a brief period of poor yield I started mowing around the field and mowing the water ways as I was waiting for trucks to be filled.

Dad had a meeting to go to that evening and my uncle wanted to go ahead and quit since my dad had to leave so I kept mowing for awhile. That pretty much wrapped up the day and left just a bit over 30 aces for Tuesday.

Tuesday I fed all the calves and checked on the group of younger cows and heifers.

It was a damp and slightly foggy morning, a bit cloudy too so it was going to be awhile before we were going to get back in the field.

I had to round up one of the younger calves that had been having some trouble with pink eye in one eye. Had to give it a shot again. Hopefully it’ll clear up. Pink eye has been bad for us this year.

So we got to the field and got going after the dew dried. After moving the auger yet again I managed to fill things up.

All 8 bins are dad’s were full. Since we were full and some our landlords wanted to sell their part right away I hauled a few loads off straight out of the field.
4ef571c37cff75cdcdbaa6b9a4ebd626.jpg
So across the river I went. I ended up taking 4 loads over Tuesday.

I saw more than one combine over there already in bean fields. Here there were 2 big Deere combines going together in the same field with a big Deere pulling a grain cart that was maxed out and could hold over 1,000 bushel (for anyone who may not know that can be over a trailer truck load).

So after my last load my dad and uncle had already finished up. We moved everything back to the shop. c4a54c509b85879b7af08267501251b0.jpg
So with that the whole 2018 corn crop was officially done and out of the field. It was a good feeling. Especially since the bins are full.

I have to say it definitely flew by this year. I’m still used to when we were farming a few more acres and doing some custom combining to. Going from combining 1,100-1,200 acres of corn a year down to just 500 makes a big difference. It’s kind of weird yet a bit relieving to not have to be running between the grain cart and trailer trucks and anything in between for about 25 days straight.

As far as today goes I of corse started by feeding the calves. Last night before I quit I washed up the 8400 and grain cart.

So this morning I looked things over a bit and cleaned out the air filters and radiator.

After that dad and I took it the shed in the bottom. We had to move things around a bit and unhooked the grain cart and hooked to the drill.

The last farm where we picked corn we were going to drill rye in as a cover crop. It will be about the 4th year we’ve had some type of a cover crop for the winter months here. So after a bit of a minor set back with a closing wheel on the drill, dad was able to start with the rye.

While he started drilling I went around the field to try to fix a few washed spots in the field.

After finishing that I cleaned up the corn header. 9792509dee95e8bf6817ebd2f4a0075f.jpg
I got all the dirt off and washed it up a bit. Then I freaked everything back up and lubed all the chains to keep things in decent shape and hopefully prevent rust a bit.

So later on dad finished drilling the rye. So we took the combine header and put it in the shed. Then we got out the header for the 9500 and brought it to the shop.

I need to get things rolling to get both combines ready to go to pick beans soon too. Even though it may be several days until we have some beans ready to cut.

Before the evening was over I shut off all the fans on the bins and closed them all up.

There a cool front on the way and it’s bringing in a chance of rain. I didn’t want any rain getting in the bins.

So not sure what the weather is going to do. If it rains it won’t likely be much. Either way I’ll have one to do. If we’re not in the field l’ll have plenty of shop or house projects to catch up on.

New term to me "drilling the rye" is that the same as planting the rye? I really enjoy your write ups of everyday farm life.

Do y'all have a lot of doves there? We have a lot here when they start harvesting the beans and corn here. They have large dove hunts for charities and school fund raising.

We have some. More so around the corn fields than the bean fields. But it is by no means an abundance of them. You might find some here or there

Yeah. It’s essentially the same. We just use the drill instead of the planter. Little different set up. But it’s the same idea.

Not a super eventful day today. But no rain yet. It all stayed just north of us.

Fed all the calves this morning. After that dad and I decided to get the combine prep work out of the way.

We blew off most of the dirt with the air hose and leaf blower. After that I washed everything on the outside while dad cleaned the cab. That pretty much took the whole morning. Afterward we greased everything and lubed all the roller chains, fueled it up and set everything and adjusted things so it’s ready to go for beans.

This afternoon I cleaned up the brush hog and 7510.

They were both super dirty. I washed them up and greased both of them too. Ready to go mow around the corn fields.

This evening I put out mineral for all the cattle and calves and checked on that group of young cows and heifers with the young calves.

It was a pretty slow evening and dad had some running to do. So I quit a bit early so I could make a trip to Menards for some things for the house.

All your bins full of corn? Beans going to town?

Most of all of the landlords part is in the bins too. So it will be getting hauled off soon. Plus we’ll likely haul off a little bit of our own corn too. We also made a November contract for some corn earlier this year that we’ll be filling soon. We’ll likely be renting a few bins for beans too.

Not much exciting activity the last few days. Friday after feeding I set out to get some mowing done around the corn fields.
a736812406abf7a6db06a1af902bd01c.jpg
And a little more mowing
ebbe8e025375fdb03a0d926ede049558.jpg
Then I kept mowing some more
0ce4f8e22747316dc64b9fc356fb27be.jpg
I finished up at the farm I was at and called it quits.

Saturday I fed and then went back to the same again.
377d27c998ac81b490885de08f31ab03.jpg
More mowing.
c8d02497dd3e686b934e215679b53ef8.jpg
Then some more which included a little game of find the edge of the sink hole. I’m pretty positive some of them are getting larger.
But I finally finished around the fields in the hills and was sure to get all the road ditches along them too. So things should look good for the rest of the fall.

While I was mowing Saturday dad got the 635 platform out of the bottom shed for the 9770 combine.
07babd4697de15f3a330fdfdbabf47cb.jpg
He checked things over on it and got it hooked up to make sure everything was set and ready to go for beans.
025db865759b44109989d35f97d9f5a4.jpg
Although we had a little set back with an aggravating sensor for the contour master on the platform. But we finally got it to work right. So the 9770 is ready to get in the bean fields.

We’ve managed to dodge the last few rains. Things are still exceptionally green for the time of year. It’s still be warm too. Upper 80’s, lower 90’s, quite a bit of humidity. But it looks like there is a cool down on the way midweek. Which is supposed to bring a really good chance of rain. Also, conveniently around the time we’re expecting to be able to start on beans. We’ll see how things work out

How long does it take to unload a trailer of corn to the silos using the auger?

Hope you have some dry weather for bean harvesting!

It’s been awhile since I’ve timed it. I can’t remember exactly. I think it takes around maybe 20 minutes or so. By the time I pull up, unload both hoppers on the trailer and pull out. Give or take 5 minutes or so.
