Cart looks great. I know its time you don't have, but yellow wheels wouldve really made it pop. I like that you left the pegboard the orig darker green, it looks right between the cart top and bottom.

The smaller blue things hung on the end of the cart, are those batteries?

Ive been messing with a 2510H at work the last couple weeks. Interesting implement, but damn that tongue weight. I snapped the jack on it the other day, and the skidsteer couldn't lift the tongue it was so heavy.

I did think about going yellow for the wheels. It would’ve matched my toolboxes then. But these wheels are about shot anyway. We’ll see how they hold up moving around 45+ gallons of oil. I think the darker green looks alright. They had the option of black or yellow too. Anything else I add around the toolboxes on the side is usually flat black.

The blue things are the power heads and batteries that power the Macnaught BOP20’s I have for the oil. Really if I wanted to I could get by with just one to power all my containers. One will likely move to the truck come spring time.

All I’ve heard heard about these Deere applicators is how great they are and that’s it’s something that Deere really has figured out. I think with this one being 2-point hook up it’ll work better for us that it would’ve with the tongue. I’m eager to get it going this spring.

Wednesday was nasty. Rain all day. Nonstop. From first light til dark.

I didn’t like it and neither did the cows.

Dad and I ran the calves from my uncle’s through for their second round of shots. Then we moved them over to dad’s.

Had a new born and a sick calf that we’re both out in the rain.


We gave the sick calf a pill but it was looking like we were too late. It set in pretty quick.

I gave the cows some corn, hay, and water.

It was not a nice day.

Since I was still waiting on parts for everything. So since it was raining the whole dad I went to the house to work on all my tax stuff.

After messing with the oil cart a bit.

Today it wasn’t raining but it was colder and really windy.

I checked on all the cattle. Unfortunately, the sick calf didn’t make it through the night. The mother to the newborn calf apparently saw me as a threat and insisted on charging at me.

After checking on all the cattle everywhere and bottle feeding the other calf I put out some mineral. Then it was time to grind feed.



A batch for the calves too.

The wind got stronger and the air got colder. So I went to the shop.

Dad and I took the front tires off the 7510. It’s been due for a new set.

Then we had to make a few repairs to our bucket for the 4020.

We are going to use it soon to clean out the barn at my uncle’s as we’re going to be weening another group of calves soon.


Dad had to go get the new 7510 tires and I went to town to turn in my taxes. But when I got back we mounted the new tires.

We went with some BKT’s since they were a little cheaper. We’ve used some BKT’s before and they haven’t been bad.

We had Firestones on it. They’ve been on it for as long as we’ve had it. Never even had a patch or a tube in either of them. We got good use out of them. But either way even the BKT’s weren’t cheap...

This evening I changed the oil in the front and rear axles on my truck.

I was going to do it last weekend when I did everything else but I forgot to get the gasket for the back axle.

The oil cart came in use for this.

This pump is just right for this job.

It bets trying to squeeze a quart bottle of 80w-90 and trying to go in the hole. It’s a lot quicker.

So after that I got things ready for tomorrow. But things in the shed. Tonight it supposed to really get cold. Closed up the sheds and picked up the shop a little and swept up after the jobs from today.

Well Friday was cold. Coldest day of the year so far I think.

The plus was the mud was froze around the cattle.


Did all the feeding after the 7230 and Kubota warmed up.

Had to thaw out 2 of the waterers.

After taking care of all the cattle I went to Deere to pick up everything ordered from the parts sale last week.

Got the radiator for the 7510. I’m glad to see the new one is all metal. Plus it has a normal drain plug too.

So I put most the stuff away and separated everything I’m going to need for up coming repairs.

Then I got dad to help me out and we put everything with the new radiator together and dropped it in the 7510.

Luckily that job was done. Almost.

Had to stop a little early of corse since it was Valentine’s Day.

Saturday I checked on all the cattle.


Everyone got corn.

In the process I got the Kubota hung up in a high spot on some tractor tracks.

I tried shoving some boards under the tires I found in the barn. But with the ground being froze I couldn’t really dig.

So since no one else was around I had to walk through the field back to dads to get the tractor.

So I pulled the a Kubota out by myself. Then drove the tractor back, then walked back again to get the Kubota.

I did some stuff in the shop for the afternoon.

So today is a nice day out. I have lots of work that needs to be done.

Took care of the cattle at the retirement farm. They needed hay. Dad took care of the rest today.

I think I’m going to take a break today.

We’ve ran them on the two cylinders. But of corse we never use them often enough to really see how well they really hold up. But I’ve heard a lot of good things about them.

Getting caught up. We left off on a Monday. It was a little busy.

Took care of all the cattle. Since it was well needed we used most of the day to ween calves.


A lot of the cattle weren’t very cooperative so the whole process took a little longer than it should’ve.

All together we weened 28 more calves. So the lot will definitely be full this time.

After taking care of the calves we put out hay for all the cattle.

By the time we finished with all that it was getting later.

I finally got some fresh coolant and distilled water mixed up in the 7510. I put the tester on it overnight just to make sure everything was good to go.

Tuesday started like usual.

Checked the cattle and took care of the calves.

But then we set things up to haul corn.


Dad loaded out of the on big bin while I loaded out of one of the smaller ones.

By afternoon we had scoop in the big bin.



Dad and I each hauled 2 loads off and we loaded both trucks to be ready for Wednesday.

We emptied the big bin too.

For the evening I went to the shop.


A heat shield on the 7510 was missing its bolts and its been rattling and annoying me. But that required loosening up the muffler and exhaust. Which wasn’t as easy as it sounds.

Then in the process of putting everything back together the clamp from the exhaust to the turbo twisted off.

So other than that it was back together...of corse I didn’t have one of those laying around.

On to Wednesday.

Started as usual.

Had another new arrival that had just dropped before I go to my uncle’s. It was a pretty quick trip though as I wanted to get back to hauling corn.

Dad had a doctors appointment so I made a trip with both trucks then came back and loaded another.

Only had to stop once for a train.

Then back for a fourth load. Luckily that was just enough to fill the contract so I was done.

I arrived back just in time for a seed corn delivery.


I cleaned out the hoppers on the augers. Moved the augers and put the tractors away.

Then checked some more stuff on the 7510.

Also added some more things to the oil cart.

Do you load out trailers by sight or do you have some way of scaling?
Nephew has an East dump trailer that they bought when they were hauling ear seed corn. Without the cobs, when the trailer is +-60% full, they scale 80,000#. Really hard to sight, it always looks empty Could use scales on grain cart to load everything but extra work and extra handling damage. We're looking into system that measures air bag pressures. DOT loves to sit right outside ADM

We just load the trucks by eye. With these shorter trailers you can figure out roughly how heavy the truck is after you’ve seen what it scales. Not saying I’m 100% right all the time by any means though.

I’ve thought a scale on the grain cart would be handy when we’re in the field in the fall. Could save a little bit of a trip going out of the way to go to a scale to weight the full truck.

Last time I got stopped by DOT they were just stopping to check weights. Guy seemed a little annoyed I didn’t have any gauges or a scale ticket for him. But it seemed like he trusted me more than the 3 coal trucks in front of me cuz he let me go. I just said, I wasn’t overloaded because I knew better than to try that.

Left off on Thursday.


Took care of the cattle.

Then we decided to get the anhydrous toolbar hooked up to the 8400 to get it in the shed.

We widened the quick attach to allow it to hook up. Only for me to read the toolbar manual saying that it shouldn’t be hooked up via quick attach.


But we decided that it’d be ok just to see how it all fit up and just to move it in the shed. Looks like it’ll be pretty good.

I had some errands to run in town after that.

Went by the recycling center to drop off stuff.


Did some work to the 7510 to end the evening.

Friday I got up and took care of the cattle.




But then dad and I both headed to town as we had a Dicamba training meeting. So that took a couple hours.

But then it was back to the farm and dad and I put out hay for all the cattle.

I got things prepped for some jobs in the shop.


Then finished the night putting out hay at the retirement farm.

Saturday I had Noah come down and help me with some stuff. We took care of all the cattle and gave them corn. Had to catch a calf that’s was sick to give it a shot.

It was a decent day out so I had Noah wash stuff while I worked on things and picked up some parts. He washed off the Kubota, 7230, 4020, 4010 and 8400.

The 8400 went to the shed for now.


I’m still having a starting issue with the 7510. Plus I decided to replace a few fuel hoses on it. But it seems as though I had no 3/8” hose on hand.


I pulled the 4010 in again as it seems to be having some brake issues again. The SCV couplers are leaking oil again.

There’s engine oil around the oil sending unit.

Plus it appears as the SCV itself has developed quite a leak as well.

I found the hour meter on the 4020 apparently hasn’t been working. So that needs to be addressed. I was pretty sure it was due for an oil change so I had Noah start that.

He replaced the engine oil and filter. Then replaced the hydraulic filter. Then I had him start on the fuel filter.

But while trying to pump the filter full the little transfer pump went out... luckily I keep one on hand...but it seems like I’ve really got my work cut out for me.

Today I didn’t rise as early as usual.

Got up and checked all the cattle. Fed the calves. Checked the younger sick calf. Everything was good today.

But then I needed to get some work done at home.

The previous owners of my house had the basement finished out roughly 10 years ago. I don’t know what I experienced guy they had doing it but I’d like to find out who it was. There’s nothing square. Everything is wired up weird. He crammed everything in to small of a breaker box too. But I found this in a light switch today. Just 3 open wires hanging out. Just cut off. Not sure what they’re from. But I’d guess that’s not up to code...

Also tried to replace the light on the front porch. Hasn’t worked since we moved in. We bought a new one awhile back.

Today I took the old light off. Wired up the new one and mounted it up...and nothing. Won’t work. I have power to the switch, the switch is good. Even have power at the light and the light socket...but nothing...so I called it quits for the day on that. I replaced the dryer vent cover on the outside of the house and stopped.

I’ve had my fill of repair jobs the last couple days.

Seems as though the week has really got away from me.

Sunday night led into a rainy Monday morning, just what we didn’t want.

So after checking on all the cattle I headed to the shop for the day.



I started servicing the 4020.


Had a retired Deere mechanic stop by to take a look at our brake issue with the 4010. He suggested, as we’ve already heard, to just get a good brake valve from a 4020, rebuild it and put it on there.


Dad cleaned and waxed the 7510 while I worked on the 4020.

Tuesday was mainly spent taking care of the cattle.




I spent a good part of the day looking over several things on the 4020. Also trying to do a few things to the 7510 yet.

Cattle.



We had some brief and unexpected snow. Luckily it was gone by late morning.

Then it was back to the shop.

We put some new super expensive LED bulbs in the truck shed of the shop to brighten things up a little.

Then it was back to the 4020. Several hydraulic hoses on the loader were looking rough and a few o-rings seemed to be ever slightly seeping.



So I took the bad looking ones off to have some new ones made.

I went to town to make some stops. Picked up some feed for the calf, coolant, plugs for the 720, and got new hoses made.

However, they ended up being one fitting short so I was shy one hose.

I had to take a break in the shop as dad needed help moving around quite a bit of furniture in the house. He wants to do some painting and mom is apparently wanting some new furniture.

After I got that done I went back to the shop.


Another job that I’m thankful for crowfoot and angle wrenches.

I got all the hoses one minus the one I didn’t have yet.

Then a stop by the retirement farm before I went home for the night.

Today started as always.

After taking care of the cows dad and I worked with the group of calves we weened last.



They got their shots and tags. The bulls were all castrated too.

After lunch we split a load of wood.


After taking care of a few other things it was back to the shop.

Got the last hose and put it on the loader. The 4020 is pretty much done except the radiator needs cleaned out and the loader needs washed after having the hoses replaced.


Had the replace the oil pressure switch on the 4010.


I think the 7510 is just about done finally.
Aside from all the other repairs it’s had a gradual worsening issue with starting. Not just cold start. It’ll crank and crank like it’s not getting fuel and you can hit it with a quick shot of ether and it suddenly fires right up.

Since fall I’ve replaced the seeping fuel transfer pump, the seals in the filter housing, the fuel filter, the locking ring for the fuel filter, the in-line fuel filter, the fuel hoses from the fuel tank to the in-line filter and from the in-line filter to the other filter’s housing, the sealing washers on several of the line and hose fittings, checked the tube in the tank, replaced the fuel sender that was throwing a code, and replaced the solenoid on the injection pump. My b-i-l even used his tool to pull a vacuum on the fuel system and it never lost any pressure.

It’s seemed be better the last couple days. But it had always fired right away. But even still if it sits for a little while you really have to crank it before it fires. I’m really not sure what the issue could be. Especially, since there are and haven’t been any visible leaks. Plus, since replacing the fuel sender that are absolutely no codes showing up either.

Look for a loose screw on a throttle body or intake manifold. That could change the air ratio. Weak spark from a tired coilpack, spark gap changed, to dirty plugs from worn rings seeping oil...keep looking...take some time to check all the bolts on the engine, you might find a quarter turn on one. Sometime the simplest **** trips us up. I spent $50 trying to fix a little scooter I owned only to sell it and the buyer found the carburetor was loose on the engine...it vibrated loose. I was pissed I didn't check all the fasteners....

It is weird. Just a quick shot of ether and it fires right up and runs like a charm.

I’m was wondering about the pump. But I’m not sure what it could be. When it’s running it runs great. It just doesn’t want to fire right away. I’m just not sure where it could be loosing pressure at when it’s shut off.

Farmall450 is right it is a diesel so no plugs or coil pack to worry about. I’ve checked my fittings and that type of thing to make sure their tight.

I've only cracked open the piston type; buy a manual if you're going deep and take pictures lol. Seems odd that it's cranking too slow to catch prime or whatever, but that would make sense if he's got good pressure up to the pump.

I’ve been curious about it being something with the pump as well. Dad keeps trying to convince me it’s got nothing to do with the pump. But at this point it almost has to be. Luckily I’d got the book for the injection system (because Deere likes to separate everything) week before last. I started trying to look into it. Funny thing is the book for it just wants to blame the issue on everything else but the injection system.

Friday went as usual.

Got one last pain in the *** calf weened finally too. We’ve been trying to get it when we got the rest last week. But it just insisted on running away and acting like an idiot.

The 4020 was ready to go so I pulled it out.

Dad was going to wash it up after getting oil on the loader from replacing all those hoses...but...
As soon as he started the hose on the pressure washer blew...so we had to skip that for now.

We ground feed and gave the waterer for the calves a good cleaning on the inside.

The calves are really messy so it needed a good scrubbing since they like to drink before their finished eating the mouthfuls of feed in their mouths.


I had everything else done, except this fuel situation, done on the 7510. So I put the shields all back on and ran it for awhile. Want to make sure the new coolant gets mixed well and is mixed properly before it sits back in the cold. Ran it for a good hour and stopped to fill it up with fuel. Then it wouldn’t start again....so it went back in the shop.

So I had plenty of jobs to start on. But after doing stuff to the 7510, the leaky 4010, and replacing hoses on the 4020 the shop was a mess. So I decided I was going to clean things up before I got started on anything else. Cleaned all the oil off the floor. Picked up parts and miscellaneous stuff laying everywhere. Dad’s tools were everywhere. Got rid of the trash. Got rid of scrap metal. Made it clean and made room to work on more stuff.


So I can breath easy for another week or so.

Today being Saturday I had a little later start. Had some errands to run in town as well.



So I checked on everyone this morning.

A handful of cows are getting close to dropping calves. I’m trying to keep a close eye on them.

Since I have to go through the cooling system on the 8400 I decided to try something.

Got this from the Matco guy.

It hooks up to the water hose and air at the same time.

We’ll see if it’s got enough pressure to flush out things good.

So I was taking a break on the 7510 and I wanted to work on things for the 8760 before I pull the 8400 in the shop. So I was going to start with the feedback steering cylinder. Got all the parts out and started putting on new seals. I had to get new rods. I opened the one, which I’d taken out of the box already. It was wrapped in a plastic bag with oil so I never actually took the rod all the way out, I figured it should be fine.

But to my surprise it wasn’t ready to go. Nice and rusty. So the dealer is getting me a new one. So that job wasn’t completed. Little aggravating.
