Well let’s try to do a little catch up, gradually anyway. I don’t have a ton of pictures. But I do have some I’ve been trying to take so I can keep things rolling here.
Maybe we’ll work our way from now back to where we left off. It’s a little easier to find the pictures on my phone that way. Plus, right now those pictures from August/September feel like they’d be a lot warmer right now.
So currently, it’s cold, I’m not a fan of it. Today was about 10 with at least 15 mph winds. But it sounds like it’s that way for a lot of people. Last week we had a bit of a “wintery mix” of precipitation. That made the roads pretty nasty. Then he received a little bit of snow added on top of that. Real cold temperatures. Now, snow Monday and then Wednesday again. No thaw til next weekend, at which point there is supposed to be rain. So it sounds like we’ll go from cold and froze to slightly less cold and mud up to your ears. Neither one is fun.

Luckily, all the cattle seem to be taking this weather pretty well. They’ve all been staying pretty healthy this winter for the most part. Thank goodness none of them have been trying to have a calf in this miserable ****.
The morning during our winter mix the defrost couldn’t keep up on the poor service truck.

Luckily, I had the heat gun with me to thaw things out so I could still see.
Anyway, surprisingly the waterers haven’t been freezing up just too terribly. The wind is what really does them in. This morning was the worst thaw out we’ve had of two of them so far.

I had to put out a few bales at the retirement farm this morning. I had the block heater plugged in, but apparently it quit working. It took me an hour to get the 3020 started this morning. She didn’t want to get out in this **** either.
This past week hasn’t been exactly productive as far as actual shop work goes. Both the 7510 and the 4010 have been in there and waiting for parts. I’ll do an update on those separately.
But, if you’ve followed along you know I can’t stand disorder in the shop. From working on both tractors the shop is a nightmare right now!

Picture the disarray on my tool cart spread out over the entirety of the shop. It’s starting to eat at me.

It’s hard to see in this picture, but it’s a wreck. Also, note the additions to the toolbox.
So since we were waiting on parts, couldn’t pull anything else in the shop, and it was miserable outside I decided to start on getting the parts loft cleaned up and cleaned out.

It’s become a huge mess. Things get shoved up there that don’t even belong up there. Then parts get shoved up there for repairs that don’t happen right away. Then you forget you’ve got them. You don’t know what’s there and what isn’t. Plus, since I lost my excel spreadsheet over a year or so ago it’s really hard to remember what all is up there. Sure I can remember a few things but I can’t remember everything.
Not to mention there’s a ton of two cylinder parts up there. Those aren’t been worked on all the time like the tractors that are actually doing the work. So besides distributor parts and spark plugs, we don’t need all that **** up there. Several years ago when my uncle got on a kick of redoing a tractor a winter he’d just keep ordering stuff, like gasket kits. There’s so many gaskets up there that have been forgotten about I know there’s doubles of a lot of it. Those need to be organized and moved. I can’t handle it.

It’s hard to really see a difference in this picture. But I’ve made progress this week. At least I can walk without feeling like I’m going to trip or knock something over. I’ve moved quite a bit of stuff out, thrown stuff away, and just picked things up.
I’ve gone through each bin of parts and reorganized. I’m writing down each part, and number, what it goes to, and quantity as I go through. I’ve got things in bins that weren’t in bins. I’ve also got more bins on the way too.
All the info we’ll be going in to an app. It’s an app I found via a GJ post a believe. It should allow me to just type in a part number of description of the part and it should tell me exactly where it’s located. I’ll be able to easily update the quantity of that part as well. Best part is it’s totally free. Plus, dad and I can both have it on our phones and iPads to make it really easy.

I’ve also got a whole box of filters to put away, organize and inventory. There was also a box of parts but luckily most of them are now put away.
Dad turned 60 on Wednesday. I bought him a screwdriver/pry bar organizer to mount on his tool cart.

I think he likes it. He also finally got out his Wera stuff I got him for Christmas.
Still haven’t heard anything on the arrival of our new planter we ordered. But was told it was in production like two months ago.

So we’ve got a lot of Kinze parts to get rid of. I probably should’ve sold them before now. But there’s some guys that we’re talking to about a fertilizer spreader and we may trade them some of the planter parts to knock a bit off the price of the spreader.
Also, had this surprise this week. I was walking out of mom and dad’s house from eating lunch. I looked out the door and saw this...

Do you see that in the middle? That’s a bobcat, less than 20 yards from the house. It’s an immature bobcat, so it wasn’t full sized, but a bobcat none the less. Before this picture it was actually in the yard, literally feet from the house. I’ve seen a coyote almost that close to the house. But definitely never a bobcat.
