I bought these B2 Beverly Shears probably four years ago at an auction for the princely sum of $35. I couldn't believe that they didn't go higher and considered that a huge score. I really didn't know how much they go for new until I was looking this morning, and the same shears go for about $750. :scared:

Anyhow, they were pretty worn looking and I wanted to clean them up. The blades, luckily, were in great shape. I've used them to cut quite a bit of sheet metal.

Attached are the before and after shots. In the before shots you can see my bidder number written in permanent marker by the auctioneers. At least now they don't look like rusty junk (my wife's words). All that I did was disassemble them, strip the parts in the bead blaster, and give them a shot of fresh paint. The blades were left unpainted and were not bead blasted. I stripped them with an abrasive impregnated nylon stripper wheel in the drillpress.

Looks good!

The first scratch in new paint is always the worst.

Nice job! I've always dreamed of getting one of those. I wouldn't use it much but they sure would be nice when you wanted to trim a piece of sheet metal.

Nice! you're lucky that I wasn't at that auction.... either you would have paid a lot more or it would have gone home with me!!!

By the way -- you get a "You ****" for that purchase price!!

I made a "T" plate for mine out of 1/4" plate, to mount it on, so it can be clamped in the bench vise. I had it mounted to the bench originally, but it was in the way most of the time. Now when not in use, it is tucked away, under the bench.

I'm learning shaping. So far I've used it mainly to cut patch panels for autobody repairs.
