Good morning gentlemen,

I wanted to check in with you guys before I made this purchase.

I’ve got a 24 x 24 shop. I want to put a big fan in there. It gets a little hot down here in the summers.

I’ll be running this thing off of 200 amp hour 12 volt LiFePO4 battery with a Victron inverter powered by solar. Power consumption is a little bit of a concern.

Running this fan on high and my string of ten 100 watt equivalent led bulbs will eat about 10 amps an hour with 200 amps available. Works for me.

I’ve narrowed it down to these two choices. Unfortunately, Menards doesn’t operate in Texas. Returns would be a problem.

The Home Depot fan seems to have pretty good reviews.

I could go up to $1,000 if I had to. If it would get me a product with better support or better parts availability. i’m in this for the long-haul.

I’ll put another one in the upstairs part of the structure later. I’m on the fence as to whether to spring for one of the cheap bottom of the line big *** fans.

Any thoughts or other products to look at would be appreciated.

What's the amp draw running it on low? I can't see running a 10ft fan on high like you would a small indoor ceiling fan. Could be wrong. I would spring for one of those you posted.

I have been in a few restaurants that used those "Big *** Fans" they seem to work well. My local Movie Theater runs one rather than operate the Air Conditioner, it does an OK job.

Sorry I was being stupid. It’s 95 W on high and I’m running a 12 volt system. I was doing some quick shortcut math in my head on the draw from my battery. My light string draws 3 to 4 amps at 12 volts.

So I can run 10 A for 20 hours. I’m out there on the weekends and this thing recharges while I’m gone. Been working great. A fan will make a huge difference.

Make sure you can have access to the leading edge of the blades to clean dirt off that collects there, that will cut
down air flow and draw more amps. Had one in a mechanic truck shop about 15' up moved a lot of air on low speed but had to
clean it once a month

I have 2 of the home depot fans sitting in my shop waiting to be hung. You may already have the specs, but I took a pic from the manual. I'm curious as to how well they will perform, but the price was right.

Good morning...
While I haven't tried it myself, I suggest checking a place that deals with only fans, the $1,000 budget should get you covered for a while.
Sorry for not being much help, I understand that some people get very **** about this topic.

A 10 foot fan seems like overkill for a 24x24 garage...you could get a couple 4 foot industrial quality fans from Grainger for less money.
As far as that goes, a ceiling fan will blow air but it won't actually do any cooling - you may be better off with a squirrel cage blower mounted in the wall, so it pulls in fresh air from outside and exhaust hot air out.

We have a "Haiku" fan made by BAF. I cant say enough good about dealing with the company. The products are top notch IMHO. Their support folks are great. Give them a call and tell they what you want to do and Im sure theyll give you great advise.

your led do not pull that many watts, they are equvant as in light

200 watt equip is 107 watts according to the paperwork on the ones i bought

so on mine 16 light fixture is less than a single 20 amp breaker

That's a huge fan for a not huge space. I think I'd be grabbing a much more readily available, DC drive 60" first. It'll move a lot of air around.

120" seems like over kill for sub 600sqft. I have a westinghouse 100" installed in my 28x46. It moves some air even on low. I was impressed with it compared to the BAF variant at 3 times the cost.

Ive had this installed for 5 years running continuous 6 months a year. Might be worth a look if you want to go smaller and stay within your budget. Just an example ... I think I got mine via amazon at sub $500 when I bought.

Does this fan move air directly below the fan or does it spread it out?

I have two of the 120" Home Depot fans in my 40x48 building. The fans are HVLS fans and rotate slowly even on high. They move air but you will not feel a down draft like a traditional ceiling fan. The light on the bottom is fairly dim and would not be sufficient to light a shop of your size. If you are looking for a fan that will provide you with a breeze this is not your fan. The positive is it will not kick up a lot of dust or blow lightweight items around your shop.

I also have two of these fans attached to the walls. These fans also move a lot of air but at a higher speed and will blow things such as sawdust, plastic, tarps etc... They also produce significantly more noise where the 120" fans are silent. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/countyline-30-in-wall-fan-with-oscillation-sfwi-750mw

The 120" fans usually go on first and then the wall mounted fans if needed. They each serve their purpose and I am glad I have both but when it is really hot (and if I had to pick one) I would prefer the ones that are mounted on the wall. Additionally, I paid roughly $250 a piece for the 120" fans, I may have looked hard for other options at the $500/ea price point.
