The blades seem kind of thin. Why not fewer, but larger blades?

What they are doing with more blades, that are thinner, is giving you the same air flow as few/larger blades... but does it a lot quieter.

Same design on ships/submarine propellers to cut down on cavitation (stealthier)

We're glad to see that we at least spark conversation. Some of you may be interested to know that we designed a fan with small shops and garages in mind. Our ShopFan is smaller and more budget-conscious, yet still delivers big airflow for smaller spaces. Learn more about it here. Give us a call @ 877-244-3267 or contact us at bigassfans.com.

I love the fans, but i'm not of fan of websites that don't give prices...... Usually means it's an item I CAN'T AFFORD!! :(

That was my experience. It appeared to be a commissioned salesman who visited my shop.

Just tell us how much the dang thing is and if your product is a reasonable value, we will flock to your door. Just my humble opinion

They have one of these at Jim's Firearms in Baton Rouge. I knew about them, as I had inquired about them for work. But the first time I saw one, it really took me aback. That thing is BIG, but very quiet and makes a nice comfortable airflow. I could see the donkey logo and the wording on the fan.

The company I work for has several of those fans in the main distribution center. They definitely move air, and are a blessing during these summer months.

I heard about these a couple years back. To my surprise, the newly renovated building at Eastern Market in downtown Detroit, Michigan has been equipped with four Big *** Fan Powerfoil X units that look like they're roughly 16 footers. When I saw them, it was a really hot day, so they had all of them running. Judging by the indoor windstorm on the ground, they move a CRAPLOAD of air. Very cool. Here's a picture I snapped of one of them:

I'd say they're well worth it in an industrial/commercial installation and absolutely worth it in a residential if you're into the aesthetics of the fans. I'd kill to have one in my house.

Would anyone have clicked on this thread if it was titled HVLS Fans? That was their original name. High Volume Low Speed. Booorrrrinnnggg.

One of the most incredible marketing coups in recent years. Risky as hell, but it worked.

I've seen a couple of stories on them, and it's a pretty interesting company.

Talked to a salesperson with BAF this past week about the 8 foot diameter Airgo portable fan, really awesome fan that moves a lot of air-to the tune of ~$6500. I have not completely ruled it out, but that's a good bit of money for air....

The airport at Punta Cana, Dominican Republic has those installed. We got quite the chuckle seeing the name in the center of the fan.

There are a few of those Big *** Fans in a couple hangars in Yuma, AZ. On top of cooling things down a bit, they also assist with pigeon control. You'd see dead birds decapitated, gored from flying into the blades

Anything which whacks those flying rats is a good investment. Now, on that topic, how about one of those cordless robot lawnmowers equipped with a rodent-seeking radar, so it will chase the vermin around warehouses and hangers?

There aren't prices on the website because this isn't generally a product that the average residential consumer is interested in, mainly because most of them require 3 phase power. They're used in mostly commercial and industrial applications and are specified by an engineer on a set of plans. Then commissioned sales reps will bid on the job and put together pricing for all of the mechanical systems. Basically what I'm saying is the pricing varies, it all depends on the sales rep. Just like you're not going to go to Trane or Carrier's website and see a price for a new Heat Pump, you have to call a contractor or a sales rep and get a quote.

They are great fans though and we specify them on a lot of our plans. I put a few on some plans a couple weeks ago for a horse arena. They're also pretty common in Hummer and Harley Davidson dealerships.

x2 on air conditioning. I can see these being great for places with a 30 ft ceiling in the winter though.

We no longer make the ShopFan, but we will be announcing a comparable product in the next couple of weeks.

A big advantage they provide besides the comfort factor is the constantly moving air cuts down on mold, condensation, and rust.

But they are a big tool for a big room.

Installing one or two consumer 48 inch fans, set on low and never turned off, will accomplish the same effect in the typical, smaller, building most of us are in.

We have several of these installed in our new expansion at work. I will say this, these things move a lot of air and is definately a nice product. In fact, I even have one of their Foam donkeys sitting on my desk!!!

I had a Big *** Fan rep contact me today because I was looking to get airflow in a space that's 3,480 sq.ft and has 27 Ft high ceilings.. He suggested that I get 2 12 Ft or 14 Ft Essence fans which are $4300 each

The fans up now are really for heat and they are tiny.. as in like maybe 4-5 ft diameter.

But I also don't know about a mini split system.. but because of the size and the people (400) I'd need at least 160,000 BTU and a 60K BTU unit is around $4200

I need everything within 5 weeks from now.

I bought and took delivery of Big *** smallest fan in March. I believe that is a 60" in diameter fan. I bought to cool my 26 x 32 ' ft garage. For many years, I was President of large industrial fan company here in Ohio. Variable speed control, 7 speed, smooth running around $1200 with all the toys. Keeps me cool on 90 degree days. No Action.
