Billet Cargo Tie Downs

A couple of weeks ago, I reviewed a set of tie downs that I liked. During the proceeding discussion, one of our users mentioned that he had a small business that designed and manufactured cargo tie downs for various trucks. Next thing I knew, he sent me a set and I was installing both his bedside tie downs as well as his rail tie downs on my Toyota Tacoma.



If you are unfamiliar, the Tacoma comes with both fixed bed side eyelets as well as easily moveable tie downs made of plastic that slide fore and aft on a bedside mounted rail. This duo of billet aluminum parts replaces both.



Elephant in the room first. These tie downs are damned expensive. The rail set runs around $130 and the bedside set runs around $90. Together, you have a set of tie downs that aren’t crucially more functional than stock for over $200. Crazy, right?

Those look really nice.

I've been putting the bull dog pop up hooks on the last few trucks. Not nearly as adjustable, but they've worked well.

A lot of older pickups had those. I miss them. It made it easy to tie down loads. They're not neat and tidy, though, enough for today's pickup owners, I guess. My old 53 Chevy pickup also had three stake holes on each side of the bed. I always had a set of wooden side boards I could put on the truck when I had to load some brush or something. Again, that was too practical for today's pickup owners.

Also, the front passenger side stake hole was always a good place to carry a broom or a shovel. Either demonstrated that it was a working truck, not showpiece. Sometimes the broom would spin as you were driving. That was cool.

I'm old. I know.

Have to say that these tie downs are great, I was one of the original purchasers for them for my Tundra about 2 years ago. They have been holding up great, and still look new. Definitely nice to see that he has expanded the selection now. I was skeptical at first spending this much for them, but my stock ones were starting to rust up from use, and its something that i use more than not.
