BlackFriday&CyberMonday 2014 - Post Stuff Here!

Thought it time to add a Black Friday 2014 thread for everyone to post good deals you may find here or there or just comments you want to make about the stores or deals. I've also found I like bfads link below for the latest ads as they come out.

One thing I learned last year too, while you have to wait till the stores open Thanksgiving or Friday after to buy stuff in the store, many places now open up online buying on Thanksgiving day or also on Friday. So for instance if you only wanted one or two things from a store, could just buy them online and not need to go to the store then. I did that last year on some HD stuff. Worked out pretty well for me. Could be useful if you think there are only a couple doorbuster quantity on something, so you can be sure to get one. HD I know has a separate and independent local store inventory from their online inventory. They are totally different and have different quantities of things available. I think most stores handle it that way - separate and independent online vs. brick and mortor. - Paul

I think it's more efficient to post individual deals in the hot deals forum rather than have to sift through one thread. More efficient.

Not when there are 50 of them! One of the problems with the GJ type of message boards is there isn't a good way to organize individual threads. If you have too many individual threads, navigating them all becomes a challenge.

Maybe we could use this for the oddball stuff or non-majors. We could still have separate HD, Lowes, Sears black Friday threads if we wanted and Menards can go in the Menards permathread. The rest could go here and be useful as a one thread stop for BF deals. - Paul

25 foot extension cord. This will be 14.99 on black friday. As a contractor cant have enough of these:)

the 50% off one item on black Friday under 30 is a good time to pick up Gear wrench fillers for the cheap sets that skip sizes most have. They are the only one in my area still selling all styles of the wrenches loose. They are stamped ace pro though on one side and gearwrench on the other if you have tool OCD.

It's probably worth mentioning that AMEX will have their small business Saturday promo on 11/29. (up to 3 $10 statement credits for any small business purchase(s) >$10).

http://slickdeals.net/f/7088240-ame...-credits-for-spending-at-qualifying-locations

This is the same day Ace H/W has their 1/2 price any item <$30 promo. Ace is considered a small business since most are franchises.

That means you can get tools real cheap by combining the two promos. Ace still has some good stuff like Klein, USA CM, Knipex, etc.

One deal I ran across so far for BF: Meijer will offer buy one Tekton tool, get one equal or less price for 50% off. Effectively, about 25% off two Tektons. They recently switched over to Wilde US source for some pliers and channellock items, which look to be good value for those. Most Tekton is not US coo. Check it out if interested.

Via TEKTON at Twitter:

They will be announcing Black Friday for Amazon deals shortly, to allow those (like me) who don't have access to a brick and mortar to buy Tekton tools.

Amazon Prime members get no shipping fees, which means- no waiting in line or dealing with people on Black Friday. Winning!

As soon as I see the announcement, I'll share here.

A guy at one of the local Lowes told me that this is a BF deal:

Items 475927 & 525956 bundled together for $169.

It's a repeat of one of last years' black friday deals. He said they have ten of them in stock and that they'll go on the floor on Monday 11/17 at a higher price than what they'll be on BF.

The website sure makes it look like he's right. The item description for the top box is "12-in x 17.5-in 5-Drawer Ball-Bearing Steel Tool Chest (Black) with Free 37.4-in x 26.5-in 5-Drawer Ball-Bearing Steel Tool Cabinet (Black)"

Nothing fancy. Just a lighter-duty box for a home garage.

I got one worth mentioning. Saw that both Staples and Office Depot/Office Max will have for $9.99 the Brother P Touch Labelers on BF. I got one of these a few years back on a BF and just love it for labeling anything. Toolbox drawers, storage plastic containers, whatever. For shop organization, these are real nice. Labels stick really strongly and text is very clear. Recommended if you don't have something like this and could use it.

They are nice to have. The tape is expensive though. At least it used to be.

Yes, very true. The tape is proprietary and pricey. But you can get it on a later deal at a later time. Sometimes they have like 20% coupons and such. And I find it lasts a very long time, as this is an occasional use thing for me anyway. Still worth it I think as best way to label stuff I've found. - Paul

Poor reviews with most being damaged and very thin metal.

Yeah, I've got a couple of these. What pisses me off is the non-adjustable margins at the beginning and end of your text that ends up being (expensive) waste.

It's probably cheaper to buy a whole new kit at Costco rather than buying additional tapes....

True again. The design requires that margin length to work for some reason. Still, worth the $9.99! I think there is enough tape just with it to easily cover a couple toolboxes worth of drawers before needing a refill. Mine went like 2 years before I did. - Paul

I try to print several labels on the same tape and just leave a space or two between. That way you only have the extra long margins on one tape.

Love the brother tape printers, I buy 3-4 every black friday and let the kids print the labels for my boxes, down side is they add printed do-tads and such. When somebody comments how they like my labels, I give them the empty printer and say works great just needs labels; everybody is happy.

Mine has adjustable margins. One of the settings is called chain which leaves no space between the labels.

I gave up on these. I write my label on a piece of paper then cover it with a scotch tape. Quicker and I can write what & how I want it.

Might be a good idea if the OP could be updated with all deals available. That way one wouldn't have to read through pages of posts.

30% off on some PB Swiss Tools on BF. 25% off all tools from Friday to Monday.
Offered by count on tools through the U.S. PB Swiss web site.

I think guys there are going to be way too many deals available to try to put in one or more posts. Also, I don't have the time to do that and list every deal and update them! Sorry! Just making a convenient spot for all of us to help each other and talk about the pros/cons of a given deal. Buy X from Loews or Y from HD or Z from Menards? Kind of stuff. Need someplace to do that without making 50 new threads in the section... - Paul

Noticed Rural King will have a $50 rebate on chainsaws over$200. That is very enticing for any ECHO products, as they sell these and they are rarely on sale. Best deal going for that I've seen this year. I want a big one sometime... Tempting... Must leave browser now.... - Paul
