Hey, so I got the pad poured for my 12x16 shed build. I was thinking of adding a layer of block to the perimeter and putting the shed sill on top of that to gain some more height, but unfortunately I don't know the terminology to search out how that's done. I don't suppose anybody could point me in the right direction? DIY vids are always appreciated.

It's called a stem wall.

I would put in a few all thread rods to keep it from 'sliding' of the pad. Make them long enough so they stick up through the bottom plate so you can bolt the plate down. I would do them about every 2 at each corner, at least one in the middle of the 12', and 2 for the 16' sides.

Drill a hole at least 3" deep. Blow it out real good to get all the dust out....squirt in some anchor epoxy....drop the rod in.

On the blocks with threaded rods, I'd fill them up with concrete to make sure the block does not slide around.

I would also use lumber the same width as the block so you don't have any exposed block holes. Ideally, all the blocks should be filled with concrete.

You are going to have a 'ledge' inside...but it makes a great place to rest a cabinet on. I have an 8" stem wall. All of my lower cabinets bolt to the bottom plate of the wall. Hence, I have all my cabinets 8" off the floor. Makes it real easy to clean

6" thick block and 2x6" sill plate with sheathing comes out flush... if you don't want a ledge.
