I'm in the process of deciding between bookshelf and standard girts. I want to keep the building as best insulated as possible. I originally was thinking of going with bookshelf girts for the ease of insulating and installing interior panels but got to thinking that each bookshelf girt is a thermal bridge in the system reducing the overall R value of the wall. Am I overthinking this? My other though was to get 8 ft wide bats to install between posts and install secondary interior girts on the inside for wiring and panel installation. I believe there will be a cost savings in getting the larger 8ft wide bats and there is a local company makes and sells the large bats. Let me know your thoughts.
