Quail house in it's temp location. I only say that because my wife isn't home so there is always the possibility I get "corrected" 😂

That is one solid quail hutch. We used to have quails in something sort of similar to that, we had three pens stacked on top of each other and each one had the floor at an angle and extend past the front so the eggs would simply roll out.

We had a lot of scalping problems with the males, even when we only kept one male and four to five females in a cage at a time. We ended up harvesting all our quail since we didn't feel like we had the space (and they don't need much). I think I'd still want some again at some point.

@loganb

Anyway I can talk you into making me a discharge fitting for this? We lost it years ago and I'm actually starting to put together a dust collection system.

It's odd because it's oval. It's 1-7/16 wide x 1-3/4 tall OD.

You need a straight or an elbow for it? Either way an 1.5” ABS fitting heated up and form fitted would probably be a real easy start.

I would love it to 90. That way I can point it up and have the flex hose go up and over the saw arm rather than under it. I feel like it would always be in the way otherwise.

Didn’t anybody tell you them things are dangerous?! I have a Craftsman Radial Arm Saw that my dad showed me how NOT to chop my arm off back when I was in 7th grade. We were doing an upstairs addition to our house and I was the “Saw Man”! Sears had a program to kill them off, if you sent in certain parts you got a gift certificate so you could buy something “safe” at Sears!

Get yourself a street 90 (slip/female thread), steal the wife’s blow dryer and have some wet rags handy so you can cool it off asap after you get it fitted.

Then decide on hose and adapter style:

10-4. I have a heat gun tucked away in a drawer. The only thing I have ever used it for is debadging cars lol

🍺 Cheers bud. Never even thought of heating and manipulating a fitting.

Nope 🤣. But why would you put your arm in its way 🤷

My grandpa, my dad, my brother, myself we have all been using this thing for as long as I can remember and we all still have arms lol.

Does your swivel so you can rip cut with it. That's fun! That's actually not fun, I don't use that feature.

If the heat gun doesn't do it, I've successfully bent larger PVC by filling it with dry sand to help better control deformation and heating using a torch

It's also something I can easily print a 90 for if modifying the existing doesn't work. It is kinda an odd location for the dust port....would be far more effective on the backside....

Yes it is an odd location indeed. I think their thought was the saw blade will spin it up through the channel in the hood. But a ton just shots straight out the back rather than going "up". I may also try and rig up some type of catch all fitting behind it.

Something like:

Couple more hints B. The reason I suggested abs is it’s a bit more pliable than pvc with heat. I also suggest you pick up a 6” long galv ****** to thread into the female side for two reasons. It’ll keep that end from deforming and gives you a handle to hold that hot sumbitch while you’re dicking with it 😉

And happy Father’s Day too 🎉

Hey B, was that you pulling your tractor south on the 303 about 1:30 today?

If not, you got a twin running around the valley 😉

Nope 🤔 I was in my office at that time. So unless I got robbed.....maybe I should go check the shop lol. JK, I went to Harbor Freight after that time so must be my doppelganger!

I had a 25% off coupon so ran and picked up this guy for $130 bucks to build my dust collection around. Get all the hoses and fittings and gates and all that ironed out and then if need be easy upgrade of the pump later.

I know there are plenty of reviews out there, but curious to hear your thoughts on the harbor freight dust collector. I've been using a shop vac + separator for years (the rockler dust right one) and the lid broke under suction recently so I'm thinking about if a wall mounted collector is worth it. (I have a small space).

I should have all my hoses and fittings etc that I need delivered sometime this week. I'll get it all hooked up and run some scrap through the table saw and let you know what I think 🍺

My thought was it will at least give me a chance to set up my "plumbing" get everything kind of logistically how I want it and if the blower unit ***** (or lack there of haha) that's an easy upgrade in the system. Just pop it off the wall and upgrade.

For $130 bucks if it's decent.....it's better then nothing at all right.

So far I am impressed with the unit. Nice metal housing, metal intake fan, it's actually heavier than I would have imagined. Construction appears to be adequate. I have it attached to the wall with some 5" ledger loks.

A good friend of mine has something similar, but attaches to a shop vac and a 5gal bucket....when I went to his house/garage/shop to make my wives porch swing, I was SHOCKED how well that thing worked.

Definitely curious to hear your review!

The dust separator showed up while I was at a lunch meeting so swing by the post office on the way home to grab it. A few fittings showed up too but no hoses yet. I'll start to get together what I can probably after the kids go down tonight.

I ordered and am going to pair it with one of these too, so I'll let you know how everything goes.

Oneida Air Systems Super Dust Deputy (4/5 Deluxe) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZF9JQ7S/?tag=atomicindus08-20

(y)

I'd be doing a separator, too, if not the same one you ordered. And maybe even vent to the outside. Well I'll await your review 😁. I'm in no rush, but I've always weighed in my head if the extra cost and space and CFM is really worth it in a small shop. I don't have any chip-producing tools other than a router table, though.

I've been shopping for separator system parts for my blast cabinet. Easy to get a bunch of $ in one....

That's for sure. Doesn't look like much each add to cart click but 8 here 10 there 6 here 11 there and all of a sudden my total was like 200 bucks in fittings and hose. Lol.

Still waiting on some pipe and fitting so spent the evening building a little shelf/table for the dust separator to sit on so it's level with the vacuum. I figure the less pipe and the least amount of vertical travel the better. So now they will only be separated by about 5-6" of pipe. I would have loved for them to just made up directly but the separator inlet being on the same side as the vacuum it's not possible.

There is a 18" 5hp long arm (24" cut) here locally for sale. It's tempting me.
