Does the dock have a tuner? If not, then you'll have to stream the radio over the internet.

I think that Unit have a Aux In for other devices. get a cheap FM radio and aux in with that favorite male to male earphone TRS adapter. or get a nice tunner and jack in with your RCA to TRS earphone adapter.

If you download the IHeartRadio App you can stream almost any radio station on your Bose sound dock. I have a Bose sound dock and thats what I do. Got it from Costco, don't know what model it is.

Bose systems do put out good sound but man did we have trouble with the 3-2-1 that we bought many years ago. Had to warranty it three times before we got one that would work properly.

I don't like bose.. I have a sony hi-fi system and its pretty good and rather inexpensive.

No one cares, the OP is not asking for your opinion. Bose is some of the best sounding equipment in the world. Sony is mediocre at best.

As others have said you either need an aux tuner or an app on the iPod.
But I'm curious which one you got. Is it the new one that streams wifi from the iPod or one you actually have to dock the iPod in.
I'm curious to hear about the new wifi stuff.

I also have a Bose system and I use both the aux cable and the iHeartRadio app. Both work really well and i have no complaints.

Agreed about the speaker opinion, but adding yours after chastising for it is somewhat hypocritical. Speaker "sound" is not objective, it's subjective. One person may love Bose speakers & another hate them. Neither can quantify them as the best or the worst. Many say Bose is mediocre compared to other brands, too. It all depends on your own "ear" & preference...

Hey guys....to each there own and by all means buy whatever you like. But saying Bose is one of the best brands out there is a rather large stretch. I own an audio video sales and install company and hear and install a lot of brands all year long. In my business the general opinion when it comes to BOSE is Better Off With Something Else. They spend the largest part of there budget on marketing and as a result a lot of people think they are great, in reality you can purchase the actual woofers used in there cube speakers for less than 5 bucks on parts express. But again to each there own.

Uh huh, I hear that all the time, and it's usually from somebody that wants to sell you something else, or from people that want to justify their mistakes. I invite anybody to listen to my home theatre. AM7s and two sets of AM3s. Have yet to find anybody that says it's NOT the best sounding HT they've ever heard. I cannot for the life of me find ANY speakers that equal Bose that are the same size at the same price point. My Boston Accoustics system in my family room sounds like **** comparably, though it was rather high-rated, but at the price I got it for, it's passable, though if I want to seriously enjoy a movie, I'll be in the theatre. Only thing missing from my Bose system is the booming lows that my old huge Cerwin Vega system used to produce with it's SW-12B. That's it, and I don't really miss it. In fact the powered sub of the BA in the family room is turned way down. Too much bass is way overrated. Everything else is as crisp and clean sounding as the CVs, maybe even a bit better-all with a huge space saving, which is important to some. Cranked up, the Bose system will shake the house to it's foundation, but I'm not a kid interested in losing the rest of my hearing like those idiots in 10KW cars. Don't know about Bose's latest ventures, but their old Accoustimass systems were pretty much unbeatable, that even from an old friend of mine who swears by them also, and his previous system was a set of Ohm Fs, considered by many to be the best speaker ever made.

The original poster already has a Bose sound dock and was wondering about playing the radio on it...he wasn't asking for opinions on the brand name.

I agree, my brother in law owned the 7.1 Bose sound system, and it was not impressive. Think about it if they were that good then why aren't they THX certified, all they have to do is send a speaker to them for testing. Heck klipsch pc speakers are cheap and are THX certified?

Then again if your gonna use them it in the garage, you could have gotten a Bosch box it has a place for a IPod and an AM FM tuner ect....

My wife has a Bose dock for her i-Pod too. Never tried to get radio with it, she just uses her own music over it. I do know that to use the FM radio with the i-Pods that have that feature you have to have a set of ear buds or headphones plugged in as the cord serves as the antennae. Not sure if the Bose dock will provide any sort of antennae internally to allow the radio function to work. Perhaps try plugging the headphones in with it in the Bose and see if you can get radio that way.

AFAIK, THX certification is not free, and there is a royalty to use the "THX" cert logo. On the other hand, THX Cert does not mean the speaker is better---only that it met some arbitrary quality criteria.

Yea that's true but for as long as Bose has been around they could certainly afford to get certified. Imagine how much more marketable they would be with THX badge on their products. The best movie theaters have THX certified speakers.

Bose just knows they would never pass THX certification. That's why they have never been THX tested

Nope, Monster cables are overpriced AND overrated, for ME that is.

I will gladly stomp all over Moster Cable's name. Truely one of the worst cases of success leads to massive profit, cut quality and sub-par products. Please never spend your money on their stuff, trust me! If anyone thinks I say that because I am promoting another product then you go right ahead and keep buying the name. Eventually you will learn.

As far as Bose goes, they have their niche. Small spaces, elegance and simplicity are the main benefits, but as far as sound quality and output, your money can go a lot further down other avenues. It all just depends on what is important to you. I had a Bose system years ago and loved it, but I lived in a 700 sq ft condo that was all hardwoods. It worked for me. Now I have an SVS PB12+2 in my living room (google it):rocker:
