Looking to replace my older USA craftsman wrench set with something newer, its missing some sizes and is pretty beat up. I have looked around and watched some videos but it seems they all have their issues.

My requirements,

Combo
$200 or less for Metric and SAE
Offset
No skips
Non ratchet
Holder/rack would be a plus.

Do not own many tekton tools, do they hold up as well as the early 2000s craftsman?

Easily

Tekton's fit and finish is much better than USA made Craftsman from any generation. Although that might not mean much given the decline in quality of Craftsman towards the end of its made in the USA run. I think Tekton is the best bang for your hard earned buck today. Keep in mind, I'm referring to Tekton's current line up of tools and not their older line of 72 tooth ratchets and other stuff listed on ebay and closeout places. If you register and order from Tekton.com you get free domestic shipping on all orders, plus 10% back in reward points that spend like cash on future orders.

Take a look at capritools.com for as another option.

Lots of options out there. Imported tools have come a long ways. $200.00 will buy Joe Homeowner a pretty nice set of wrenches.

I don't have Tekton combination wrenches but I have a lot of their double box ends which I'm quite happy with.

Here's a link to a $200.00 set of combination wrenches.
https://www.tekton.com/combination-...count=38-pc&storage-option=rack&unit=combined

I don't have any Tekton tools, but if I were in the market for a set of combination wrenches, thie set looks like a winner for the range and price.

He say's BOX wrenches so I assuming not combo wrenches ....

I don't rate tekton wrenches, reality is none of the average taiwan wrenches amazing, some of the carlyle and toptul pretty decent when prices low as a value option .

Hard beat stahlwille for a great box end wrench at OP budget, the broaching and fit is top effort, they strong with good design and prices for full sets pretty decent .

The Tektons are fairly nice, but if you're used to the older Craftsman wrenches (mine are early 90's vintage) then they Tektons will seem very bulky on the box end. I'm actually looking to replace mine because of this. I don't necessarily like my old Craftsman, but I like them more than new Teton.

Snap On. You should be able to find a used set for under $200. Wrenches are one of the things Snap On really excels at enough to justify the cost imo.

Thank everyone for all the replies! Being a weekend warrior that tekton set looks really nice. As much as I would love to get my hands on some flank drive snap ons I just can not justify the price even for used. On ebay they seem to be going for around $200 per set of Metric/SAE.

**Edit** I posted box wrench in the title and when I realized my mistake it would not let me edit the title. Sorry about that.**

for combo and affordable i'd go stahlwille series 14 sets metric and sae .
wright be another one look into .
This is tooltruck quality at cheap brand money .
Is some good deals on sets online and could probably get them for high 200 range .
Tekton is a waste of 200bucks on what is pretty average at best wrenches .
wrenches one of those tools never much real use when cheap and wanting full sets in metric and sae limits options on good and affordable .

Except if you actually read more of his post than the title you see that he specifies combo, and also that Stahlwile is easily as much for either metric or sae as he wants to spend for both.

Tekton is on par with Gearwrench husky lowes harbor freight-pro line....or any other Taiwan company. The nice thing is you get a complete set of middle of the road metric and sae wrenches for 200 bucks.....all of the companies I listed will swap something out no questions asked.

In my old career I used a set of GW and husky wrenches in a lite-pro setting....absolutley fine, sure snap-on had a nicer feel and was a better wrench, but the more budget friendly option I feel would serve him well.

Proto is an excellent choice. Their Professional combination wrenches are great wrenches too. But unless the OP has the time and inclination to shop used, there's no way they'll fit in his $200.00 budget.

I'm not trying to push a brand here. I try not to do that. But my replies are and should be based on experience, not hearsay and wishes. I'll repeat that there are numerous options out there to choose from that will suit the needs of the home maintenance/weekend warrior types. Too many to try to list all the options.

Unless he's trying to go the absolute cheapest way humanly possible, I'm pretty confident the market will oblige.

Tekton, Sunex and Gearwrench. I have all three of them and they work fine and don’t break the bank and they have a lifetime warranty.

Another vote for Stahlwille 14s from me, I got the 17 piece metric set for £154

Probably a bit more than what you want to pay for both sets!!!

However, Its only money at the end of the day :)

Stahlwille series 14 is combo

both sets could be had around 350
While over budget the quality to cost is unbeatable.

I never found a taiwan combo wrench that any real good when the going gets tough and I quite keen on taiwan tools .
Taiwan ratchet wrench rings fair well, they seem do powdered metel well but when broaching a ring wrench it bit hit and miss, open end are pretty lame across the board, toptul half decent and taiwan facom turned out great and they both use same forging foundry !

Buying cheaper wrenches never seemed that worthwhile in the long term picture and the price difference between top quality and average is minimal when buying into it as a set .
poor wrenches are nothing but wasted time knuckles and fittings damage and never worth the saving .
I'm not one over spend when not needed or buy truck for love of the brand, plenty good cheap tools that equal or better some top tier brands but not so much with wrenches .

Thanks everyone! Ended up getting a 15pc Metric, and 11pc SAE Wright grip full polish for a decent price. Hopefully these last me along time.
