I have used bungee cord but I think the next time I do brakes on my car which is soon, I will be getting those S shaped holders

For years I used coat hanger wire, as has been mentioned. It worked fine, but the dedicated "S" hooks I bought are more convenient. I don't recall the brand, but they are similar to the Craftsman ones at Lowe's. They are black vinyl coated, so I make sure to remove them immediately and not leave them hanging. They would be easy to overlook.

I use the hose.

Maybe on a like 25lb F550 caliper I'd bungee it or something, but normal sized calipers aren't pulling hard enough to bother anything

Of course you don't always need them. If we are just changing pads, we just flipped the caliper up and off to swap them and put them back on. Now if your banging around to remove a hub assembly, lower control arm, etc. we would use bungee cords or coat hangers or sometimes even both, just to keep things up and out of the way.
Now, a few years back, I was in an Amazon package store and they had a good deal of stuff I bought one day, that included some plant hanger stuff and some bathroom stuff. Part of it contained chrome double S hooks, that I simply split apart to make a bunch of these hangers. Cost me less then $1 for something like 8 of them. Right before the first time I went to use them, was when my cancer diagnosis happened, and I took my car down to the garage I used to work at, they checked and I didn't need brakes after all, just had a small tree branch that got between the dustcover and the caliper, so that was the noise I was hearing. My brain wasn't recognizing sounds I had heard before, because of pain/fatigue.

Who makes the very best? I find myself wanting to hang the caliper from the strut coil spring because it's close by and seems to be the only thing sturdy enough to support the weight of a brake caliper. I don't want some cheap hooks that are going to bend from the weight. I kind of wanted some vinyl dipped fluorescent green hooks that are easy to find, but they don't have to be vinyl dipped. What do you guys prefer?
I bought a pair of plant hanging hooks at dollar tree for $1.25.

I bought garden hooks from the garden center at ACE Hardware about 10-15 years ago before Amazon was selling them for hanging calipers. They come in different lengths. I also bought a set of longer yellow ones from Amazon 2 years ago and they are about the same gauge.

I just took a photo at my lift to show the two..

These are the ones I bought on Amazon. Well worth it for the price.

Lisle hooks are thick and still made in USA. Think I paid $6-8 from JB Tools when needing to get over the free shipping threshold. Suspect sold on Amazon as well.

Reusable cable ties do the job. Can vary the height and also use them to hold the cv axle out the way

I got the hazet ones a couple years ago, but only because they're blue. They don't do anything I wasn't accomplishing just fine with a bungee cord for years before that, but you know, blue. I like them, would recommend.

Any REAL working shop has an assortment from 3" up to about 16" hanging somewhere on the wall or piece of chain. Mine are just thick galvanized wire for fencing or something. They come in handy for hanging ANYTHING out of your way. Also great to hang outside for painting small parts!!

Okay I think I may have found them. They're 1/4" thick stainless steel and they're made in USA.

I have these and they work fine. However, they are a little over kill. Bendable is no big deal (bend to what you need) as several have pointed out -- insofar as they are strong enough to hold, bendable does not matter. These definitely are strong and do not bend easily. They are easy to wipe down clean. Plus I like buying USA everything ... if possible.

Hmmm....
If they weight of the caliper breaks the line, I would say the line was end of life anyway.
It is not a good idea to hang a very caliper on the flex lead of the brake line. It can crimp the shielded hose and as they age will put stress points were it is more likely to fail.

You don’t always need to hang the caliper, as long as you can set it without tension on the flexible brake line and it will stay that’s all that is needed. I use a set of SS hooks when I need to.
