So a couple of weeks ago I asked for advice on replacing the brake lines on my 2004 Tahoe. Thanks to the advice from you guys, a tackled the job with just a few hiccups. I went with the brake line kit from the dealer, $126.00. To my surprise, the lines were coated to prevent rust, imagin that. One of the fittings was bad, so I flaired the line (a first for me but you guys said it would be easy and it was) and used the old fitting. Worked fine. Needed to replace a rear caliper due to a frozen bleader. Rebuilt, $40 or so, not to bad.
Go to bleed the brake, fitting at the new caliper leaking like a sive. Turns out the rebuilt came with the wrong size crush washer, too big. Fabricate new washer, good to go. Bleed system without issue and did not need scan tool to complete the process.

So with your guys help, did the job and saved enough $ to almost pay for my SK day purchases.......thanks

Thanks Rookie. Oh and to add insult, I just reviewed the work order for work done on the truck a year ago to replace "front lines". Found that they had only replaced about a 4' section of one line chargining 2.5 hrs labor plus the bleeding service. And it was an easy section to work on. A visit to the well know tire center will take place tomorrow with the old front lines (all) that I just replaced. Not expecting much, but they will know that I know. Bastards........

Good for you. Not only are you confident the job is done right (not temporary hack like the front line repair you had done), but now you have the tools and knowledge for future.

I replaced all the lines on my 2002 tahoe. I got the stainless steel kit from Classic Tube. It was a nightmre of a job but glad I'll never have to do it again!
