That's not a bad price at all. Periodically my oriellys has them on sale for $2.79 a can. When that happens I pick up 2-3 cases at a wack.

NAPA seems to run a $2.49 special on 3M high power brake cleaner every few months. I buy out their stock once or twice whenever they do.

That looks like the good CRC Brakekleen, the chlorinated is 100 times better than the non-chlorinated. It cleans & dries alot better. The non-chlorinated they say is better for the environment, but it smells like half brakekleen - half Gumout carburetor cleaner and is very bad for your skin.

Can't buy the good stuff in Ca. or NJ....

I don't the Chlorinated brake cleaner is good for your skin either...

True, all of this chemical stuff is bad. I have scars & stitches on both on my hands and the non-chlorinated burns them vs. chlorinated just dries them out.. again both bad for you and been wearing gloves when I can..

That Wal-Mart brand stuff *****. The Napa 3M brand works pretty good but nothing beats the original......except oven cleaner but we won't discuss that nasty stuff.

Yep, I really want to start selling brake cleaner that's just water in a can 'cause apparently anyone will buy anything and think they're SMRT

The Amazon link appears to be 05089 (according to the pic) which is awesome wasp killer ('tis the season) and brake cleaner if you're ok w chlorinated (ie you're not a hot works kinda guy)

Anyway start around post #13 for those who grasp that not all brake cleaner is created equal:

Anyone had luck with non-aerosol brake cleaners? How fast does it evaporate? Sometimes the high pressure stream is good, other times lower pressure would be better.

I haven't bought aerosol brake cleaner in years. I just pour a little of the chlorinated stuff out of my gallon container to soak a paper towel, and use that. Be sure to have good gloves on that won't dissolve in the chlorinated cleaner.

BUT, when I'm installing new rotors, the first thing I do is put a tablespoon of dawn in a cup, and add boiling water, and I wash my sticky anti-corrosion coated rotors in that first.

link or pic of the promotion? Cant find it anywhere online about what it was. Curious since I have a $10 giftcard from a dead battery core return.

I usually just go with supertech brand for $2-3ea.

TTBOMK the engine degreaser was $1.99/can or 2 for $4. The cans look damn near identical but for the wording. I made the mistake of thinking it was their brake cleaner on sale, but it wasn't.

I DO like O'Reilly house brand non-chlor 'cause it dissolves permanent marker and Dykem instantly. This is important in a machine shop.

It does not, however, spray far enough to be effective wasp killer (I've personally NEVER found any NONchlorinated that does). Likewise I've never found a chlorinated that rinses away marker and Dykem with ZERO elbow grease.

The cheapest ive seen around here for Brakleen is 2 for 7.00. been years since seen it below that,or im missing it on sale,

I use it on everything, everything, building motors ill use 2-3 cans just on the block, at the race track, the only other cleaner i Use is Gumout carb cleaner, I prob haven't done any brake stuff 2-3 years, Ive never used the non flammable before,

Well heck, they actually shipped it to me in CA! Bought 4 cans. I bet I'll get an email tomorrow saying they're sorry, they made a mistake, and I need to ship it back to them with the attached pre-paid label. Notgonnahappen.

Might not be the absolute cheapest price around, but I got to NOT go out of my way for it, and found it waiting on my front door step when I got home from work. iluvsmesomeamazonprime

Actual CRC Brakleen is also 2 for $7 at my local Autozone. So right now both O'Reilly and AZ are doing this. $3.50/can isn't spectacular but it ain't bad.

Also, the 5088 is legit non-chlorinated that will rinse away permanent marker and Dykem with zero elbow grease. I pity the fools that can only get the 50-state-legal ****.
