Brewery

Just starting a thread to document my 28 x 32 x 10 shop with 6/12 outside vault and 3/12 inside vault. I called it the Brewery because I read some where we should name our garages and I like to brew all types of beer and other projects, just haven't had my own place to do it.
I actually started almost two years ago with the removal of thirteen large trees. Then followed the removal of 3300 tons of dirt and then a second driveway and master suite addition. I paid to have the garage put up because of time restaints and I could hardly beat the price.

So far
1. sewer, drains and vents are roughed in
2. natural gas run from house to infared and brewery corner so i can ditch propane brewing.
3. water lines roughed in
4. 90% of electrical is completed
5. Infared tube heater installed and functional
6. compressed air black pipe legged to all 4 corners
7. Ready to start insulating.

not bad for a month and a half of tinkering in the freezing cold weather.

That's some serious brewing if you are using 'process' heat. My Dad used an electric blanket back in the day :)

Are you planning on isolating the beer area from the rest of the garage/work space?

I plan on automating my components and putting them on a portable rack that will be stored in the utility closet.

Mmmmm....Beer! Looks great! I like the name of you shop, it sure caught my attention. What else do you work on beside brewing beer? What kinds of beer do your brew?

Beer: mostly ipa's love the hops.
Other stuff: 85 honda 350x three wheeler
Lifted 95 grand cherokee
My 5year old wants a mud boggin truck
I'd like a Willys panel wagon.
And it to soon to tell what my daughter will be into. She likes riding in my sons 110cc buggy.

I always have some project going on, but have to use my dads shop to get anything done.

Looks good so far. He's got some good ideas for this garage space. This should be a good thread.[/Q

Be nice if you didn't live 7hrs away. We'd have it done by now. Working by yourself is a slow process.

Nice job. I'm interested in your overhead trolly build.

Now that you are prepared to get rid of what you brew, get to work in the second room:beer:

My neighbor brought me over a citrus beer that was great. Had a tropical fruit taste with roughly 6.5% content. Looking forward to your updates. I like the ceiling in the bathroom too!

I was having thoughts of doing the whole ceiling that way. i could do it for $800, but I can think of a thousand other useful things I could do with $800in there.

Was the beer home brew or craft beer off the shelf. I love good beer!

Mostly grain with some extract. I haven't brewed in a year, but that will be changing soon! Just been too many projects with finishing our addition and planning and saving and building this garage. Going to start brewinng 10gal batches instead of 5. Also plan to keg 5gal and bottle the other 5. Never tried citra hops. I will have to investigat. Just had a ipa from green flash.

Are you from the town "northeast"?

Been awhile since I've been on here. I found I was spending more time on GJ than workin on my garage. I've got a lot done, just need to up load some pics. Hopefully putting up I beam for trolly in next two weeks. Everything is cut just have to weld it all together and lift it up bolt the supports in place, unbolt the beam and put up the Galvanized Corregated Ceiling, and bolt the beam back in place.

I gotta watch this one. I haven't tried homebrew beer yet, but I like to fiddle with mead. I do have a couple batches of apple cider ready to come out of ferment. I guess where I take them depends on where they're at.

Anyway, subscribed :)

Cool idea for the concrete countertop. The whole place is looking good!
Thanks, I cast concrete sinks upside down for my master bathroom, my wife wants me to do the kitchen next.

Looking really good. Keep up the good work.
Thanks

I guess I never really explained the concrete countertop. It is NOT for work, just for a nice place to set my  and serve the kids lunch. We spend almost every saturday out there and it will keep the house much cleaner if we stay out there at lunch time and keep my sweetie happy.
There is an 8' wood bench and soon to be an 8' steel bench in the welding corner. I plan on building a 5' bench on wheels that will fit underneath the wood bench as well.

Just wanted to note that if you plan on putting an infared tube heater in, also plan on ceiling fans. mine hardly runs now that I put up two ceiling fans. It is also now my favorite type of heat. 55F feels like 70F. The second the kids get out there they hang up there coats. I will post cost to heat next month. This is the first month its been fully insulated, but the fans have only been up half the month. I've been tracking how often the heater runs with a data logger that stores temperature and humidity on a thumb drive. We'll see how it goes, may have to dial it back when we get a real winter.

Theres the beam before the tin went up. Now I just need to paint it and I've talked a couple of buddies into helping me put it back up in exchange for Bear backstraps over the fire and beer.
