Broke a Torx socket driver, looking for quality replacement

Hello,

Today while tightening the latch post on a car door, I turned a $2 husky security T45 socket bit from HD into a corkscrew. Granted, it's a 3/8 drive and I was using a 15" ratchet to tighten the post sufficiently, but I wasn't putting all my weight on it or anything...

I'm looking at a set like the SK 84213. Probably will land with non-security style bit since I've never encountered a security Torx that I can recall. Hopefully the solid shank helps with strength as well.

Anyone twisted off an SK Torx (within reason)? Any reviews appreciated.

Thanks,

We do in the shop I worked at over the summer, but they hold up pretty well. I haven't personally tried them, but I would look into the Williams bit set.

I've broken both the SK torx bits and the chrome square drive bit holder.
I would look at VIM. Their bits are made from S2 steel and are pretty damn tough.

Replace the insert bits which are worn with new Apex bits. I did that with my SK torx socket set and they work great. HJE stocks some of the Apex bit sizes.

Thanks, SK claim to be made from the same. I'll do some research on both.

Heard really good things about the Vim bits. I have Cman and SK at work... and they've been holding up fine, though they don't get everyday use. The dashes on our little trucks use torx, for which I use SK drivers... the hubcaps on our trailers (that size is a Cman), and the rail bolts for the trailers which use a size I have to go borrow. Lol. So, they get used, but not super hard. That said... I haven't busted any of the SK or Cman bits.

I have broken many SK torx sockets. The only torx drivers I use these days are the gold heavy duty removal snap on sockets and I have not broke one since. They really are worth the extra money.
