That's a first generation soft grip it looks like. I'm surprised the shank doesn't extend up through the handle further than that. You can replace it with a hard handle, or send the whole ratchet in.

Find a local shop and figure out who their local Snap-on guy is. They will be able to give you a contact number. Then arrange to meet him on his route at some point. Much easier than going through corporate, and you might spot another tool on the truck at the same time that you can't live without.

I sent customer service a email and they sent me a repair kit for the racket. I need to send
A photo or find a local guy it is great rachet. Not sure why the metal did go all the way to the end of the handle.

As others have said it's an easy fix. Snap-on offers replacement handles in red, green and orange. If you can call customer service or get on a local reps truck they may warranty it for you. Even if you have to pay for a new handle though they're only twenty something bucks. Nothing like a new handle to make a well used Snap-on ratchet feel new again!

Then knock the old handle out and tap the new one in if the metal inside hasn't broken off.

“Custom” stubby handle.

Any dealer should give you a new handle. You can always try online warranty again with a picture attached.

this was a 3/8" rachet and I mailed it back and snap on sent me a brand new rachet no questions asked. I was skeptical about snap on based on some of the stuff I have reach but I have found their direct warranty program is outstanding. I recently had an older rachet that the rebuild kit did not work and I mailed it back and they sent me the updated rachet. Great stuff!

I have never heard anyone say anything bad about Snap On's warranty. For a lot of people it is a major selling point.

Did it take 22 months to get the new ratchet?

say what u want about snap on being over priced. But man do they honor that warranty. When I haven’t been able to get ahold of a driver I just call customer service. They send you a free label can you send it in and get a new one or repaired one back. Gearwrench is actually the exact same way. I’ve heard some complain about the GW warranty, Must’ve not called the same one 800 number I did. Sent me a free label and sent me a new tool.

They warrantied a broken "anvil" on a 24" breaker bar from 1978. I explained that the tool was a hand-me-down from a very good friend and had lots of sentimental value. Consequently, if parts were available, I would have been happy to pay for them. They weren't having any of me paying for stuff. Parts arrived to rebuild in like a day or two.

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
Here are 2 more for you.

The color combo is pretty hot (I like the white/red combo), also between the 2, I'll take the "shorter" box set... the tall combo (3 overheads stacked) would be a ROYAL pain to get into... unless you're severely pinched on lateral space and unlimited on height, and couldn't build ANY storage or have cabinets, that would be a major pain to get into and out of... Parts storage?? You need a platform stock ladder on rollers for that thing...

I get wanting to have a "huge" toolbox when you have tools for them, but I put the limit on how much is "usable" and how much is "Look at my 100 grand toolbox" bravado...

Just yesterday I texted my dealer that my FHX80A wouldn’t stay in the unlocked position anymore. He showed up at my house after his route and changed out the entire locking mechanism. Just one of the many reasons I’ll continue to buy from him.

Yes definitely, if it’s a tool with moving part, and it’s something u use all the time I would definitely purchase off a truck. I mean you buy some flex ratchets you may use those for 20-30 years or longer. Sound investment And if it breaks you can always get a new one. That’s y I got the Snappy ratcheting screwdriver, buy once cry once.
