Head of a bit broke off inside my Makita impact driver, and for the life of me, I can’t get it out. Tried everything I can think of with no luck. Figure it must be bound up pretty good. Too deep in to weld to it. Anybody have a solution you’ve found to work other than sending it in to Makita?

Strong magnet? Maybe drill a hole in the middle and hit it with a small easy out? If you were to disassemble the pieces could you get it out? I know my dewalt had a part that could be removed (found that out when the detent ball got stuck). Not sure if any of this helps, just brainstorming

Loosening or tightening? Drill w an opposite hand drill? May unwedge it before an easy out is applied, but may need an opposite easy out?

Happened while drilling with a large speedbore into wood. Had tried a magnet but that didn’t budge it. I’ll have to try the superglue and/or drilling...

You could also remove the retaining ring, sleeve, and retention balls that make up the quick change. And then smack the side of the anvil nose. I seriously think you are wasting time with superglue and might even compound your problem.

Success. I disassembled the impact to see if I could pull the hammer assembly apart but it appears non-serviceable, and there wasn’t a way to drive it out from the rear like I hoped. Ended up using a punch and finally broke it loose from being bound up. Came out easy after that.

I had one that twisted off inside right where it is thinned down to lock in. and would not come out by any method I found on the internet. Ultimately I decided it wasn't coming out and I had nothing to lose so I disassembled the chuck and drilled it out with a 1/4" cobalt bit. It ended up working great and I did not damage it at all, so I was happy.

I had thought the bit was bottomed our already after being inserted which is why I didn’t initially try to drive it in to break it loose. Didn’t realize there was a little room behind it. Sometimes the easiest solution works...
