Build progress of the Busted Knuckle - Updates pg. 2
I know, I know, the name is a knock off, but it was given that name by multiple people since every time I have my friends over, we end up having nothing but busted knuckles from working on our vehicles... So... I came up with a logo for it.
Anyway, I started working on the garage about 2 weeks ago. Decided to put my carpentry skills to the test to give my garage that "Wow" factor... Basically, my intent is to build a garage that looks like it has thousands of dollars of work for not even a few hundred, from at least 10'.
So, I am going for a relatively clean, classy look and will hopefully be done with EVERYTHING that I plan on doing by the end of April.
So anyway, here are two of the benches I have done.
The first is just a large bench with a shelf. So far, you can see that I have the scroll saw mounted on there and plan to mount a belt sander (Graciously donated by a friend of mine) and vice on there once I get the other tables finished.
Also built a shelf up top to hold various things (trophies, signs, odds-n-ends) as well as whatever else. Going to finish the structure off with a small shelf to the bottom right as well as a door on the side where I can slide the longer sections of wood and whatnot that I have back behind the cabinet and out of site.
The other one that I have built is along the same lines with a shelf and the cabinet in it but has a lower section built to be a desk that I can sit at to do drawings or striping or whatever...
As of right now, I have some of the filling done and some of the routing and sanding...
Once I get all the routing and filling and sanding done, it will be stained (still not sure how dark) and sealed.
I also plan on doing some engraving on the forward facing 2x6s... Not really sure about the design, but keep it simple just to make it a little more interesting.
The next step is to build a cabinet that will hang from the ceiling above this one. Plan on mounting some lights under that for the desk and close it off with some doors. This will also have a "hidden" door on the side to hold large objects like bumpers and whatnot that I have sitting around.
Another cabinet will be built into the corner to hold the yard equipment.
Once that is done, the walls will get painted with something. I have a few ideas but nothing definitive yet. Thinking about a two tone style, maybe even include a break of some other color but who knows. Need to figure out what will work with the stain I pick out.
Then, the floor will be coated with the epoxy gray with the little blue, white and black flakes in it, then sealed to give it a nice shine.
As I go, I will update this thread...
