Going to assemble a build table with a 36X80 solid core door. Would like a way to adjust height based on project. I am looking for wood or metal options to do this. Needs to be sturdy

Telespar is just square tubing with no internal weld seam that comes in specific sizes that nest together to create adjustable fixtures.

You can get lucky and find other sizes of standard square tube that nest but removing the weld seam is a pain.

Really depends on how heavy duty, and how easy you want the adjustment to be, coupled with your price point. Kinda like

Speed, Quality, Price, pick any 2, the third is fixed in an Equilateral Triangle.

I have an inexpensive set of trestle table legs, probably IKEA quality, something like this. $60

Definitely hits the inexpensive, and if you built your own, can be quite sturdy, but not easy to adjust, and when not in use, more of a PITA to store than a sawhorse. Can add weight to the platform for stability

At the other end of the spectrum, I have a 2nd hand powered height table, butcher block top, think it’s rated for #300#. Easy to adjust, really hard to store when not in use

Here is an industrial version, rated at 480#.

How sturdy is sturdy? I have something like this on my desk. This one says good for 264#. I've seen similar but heavier somewhere, too.

I ended up using Harbor Freight trailer jacks for legs for my fab table. I replaced the crank handles with bolts so I can run them up and down with a drill or a ratchet.

Clever!

How much slop is there in the nested tube legs? Does table wobble? The similar trailer jacks I’m familiar with are wobbly due to poor fit of the nested tubes.

Yep. Little bit of wobble. This project is still in process. I'm going to weld little tabs on the corners and tap them for a "set screw". This seems like a common way of solving that problem. I need to get that done so I paint it and also paint the top plates that mount to the table.
