I designed this bumper in Solidworks based on a few parameters the client provided. I added on some design features to help the part perform like it should since the front frame rails and factory cross member were removed. The bumper parts were CNC Laser Cut and then formed on a hydraulic press brake. Once welded out three of the welds were polished over to give the bumper a smooth look. The welds were polished using a 40 grit flap wheel and then hit with 36 grit paper on the DA Sander.

The bumper was cut from 3/16" steel plate and the D-ring mounts were laser cut from 3/4" steel plate. The part was welded using a Miller 251 MIG welder.... if anyone is wondering.

Check it out. I thought some of you might enjoy some custom parts coming together.

Here is a link to the blog post on my website for a few more pics.

Awesome fabrication work! You should be really proud of that!

Side note, you should make it where the images on your site are displayed in a modal popup so that the user can easily view the next image in the set. It's typically very easy to implement in a WP site.

Thanks for the props on the bumper. It always feels good to step back and look at your work when it is completed. Too bad I have to box it up and ship it to the customer tomorrow.

I am running WP within Magento. Not many of the plugins work direct. I had Lightbox installed but it crashed the store as well as the wordpress side during testing. It is in the plan to make it happen. I have not had time to work on it. Soon.... Thanks for the feed back.

Very nice work

How about some close up pics of the welds? What wire were you running? Yea, I'm a welding nerd.

That's awesome!!

After it was cut out, did you use a press brake to bend it?

Damn you do some nice work. Makes a difference when you have the right tools/software. My friend fabled all of my one-off parts for my truck the old school way.

Thanks. I still hand make a lot of parts. I have a couple large projects in the shop. I will post up some pics along the way.

Very nice. You guys are kinda close to me and I didn't realize it. After your post the other day I've got my eye on one of your welding/fab tables

Cool just let me know. I lived in Birmingham for many years. I went to college at UAB. I actually moved my fabrication / offroad business there in 2008 and sold out in 2009. They are still there doing business.
