Bulldog 6" Vise

My father in law passed and I got a Bulldog 6" vise. It weighs about 75 lbs. I am about to build a shop in the next couple of months and would like to use an old 18 wheeler brake drum as my pedestal with a pipe welded to it and mount the vise on it in my shop.

It got cracked at one time and he welded it up and he said it worked but not to hammer on it. I was wondering if there is a good way to weld on these vises? Also, if anyone has any knoledge or info on this vise that would be great.

GD: nice handle name and check out the golf 101 thread i started if you want to talk non garage stuff every now and then. sorry to hear about your father in law passing and sounds like he was a great guy.

he was right not to beat on that vise hard and it's probably not worth spending a ton of energy and money on it if it works and you can use it as is. there are some very talented members here who have a ton of information on the Vise Repair 101 thread if you want to learn more about vises. also making stands is something you can do your own version or here's a link to show some that the members have made.

Imported, sold under different names. I have seen, in GJ, al least 4, maybe 5, different names on those vises.
