howdy guys figured id make a thread on here to post and keep track of all my projects. though yal might find some interest in it.

little backstory. Im 23 went to school for machining when i was 16 and have been doing it ever since. make alot of bike and car parts for myself. Always working on something and wanted somewhere other then instagram to post stuff and talk about it more.

Ill start with my main bike.
p5pb17644030.jpg

its been thru quite a few iterations but instead of writing a novel ill go thru the current build.

Started with custom crowns to reduce the fork offset. I also made a matching headset to go with it to use tapered needle bearings instead of a normal bike headset
p5pb17640440.jpg

p5pb17581821.jpg

I also machined the stem but its pretty rough. i have a new design ill be doing out of titanium at some point.

next was the cranks for the pinion gearbox. there isnt a single set of aftermarket cranks available for it so i had to change that. They are pretty rough. once i get it down ill make a set of out titanium as well.

p5pb17602989.jpg

p5pb17640441.jpg

as you can see in the previous pics i had the suspension bits cerakoted poop brown. was hoping for a more bronze look.

The brakes are kinda weird. The levers are front Germany by a brand called trickstuff. the levers alone cost more then the average joes bike. bought them on a whim when i was working alot of overtime. i paired them to a hope mono 6 Ti front caliper and a hope V4 rear caliper. the calipers are designed for DOT fluid where as the levers are for mineral oil so i changed out the seals in the calipers. The rotors are my own design. 240mm in the front which is larger then currently available on the market. rear is 200mm. brake adapters i machined as well.

p5pb17640439.jpg

p5pb17640430.jpg

theres a few other small bits but currently working on my own frame. Ive worked on the design for quite sometime and am slowly getting the first proto made

thanks guys!

my current big project is my VW CC. when i first got it i was into the stance car stuff. had it on air ride and nice wheels. i soon got sick of it and decided i wanted to do more of a drivers build and hope to start tracking it.

caa4f457f290c4cf75742b96e2d6de74.jpg

got rid of the bags and 3 peice wheels for nice coilovers and lighter smaller wheels

6393e3494485db514deee1a7867e6b1b.jpg

and right after that the motor blew up. that was in 2017. it sat at my buddies shop till about a month ago when i had it towed home.

its getting a new motor that is gonna be built with a gt30 series turbo, AWD swap and alot of custom bits.

heres a few random shots so far

I work in a small job shop. Run a couple older fadals. My boss lets me run machines after hours so thats when I get most stuff done till I get my own.

Just got some pretty sweet tools in today for some parts in working on. I'll get pics tomorrow.

Heres a gage block set I picked up last week off Craiglist for $1002276fbe9ede33721bd0666161f4c4a1a.jpg

as my instagram has slowly grown i get more and more messages about custom parts. Someone messaged me a little but ago about a custom rocker for there bike that would give more clearance to allow the fitment of a coil shock. seemed like a fun project. here is what the oem one looks like

mmw1kS6.jpg

heres my cad file so far of my version. its rough still. the arch is a seperate solid at the moment and need to join them and smooth it all out. but its getting there.

QL3kdaG.png

Ordered some tooling that will be used for this job and some upcoming ones. one of the things im most excited about having my own mill and shop is getting the tooling i want and having nice stuff. sick of working in shops with no organization and just by the cheap tools.

kDQNBFl.jpg

really stoked to get into the sandvik modular tooling. not cheap but i think it will be worth it. waiting for my shrink fit holders to get here for these next week. the one on the left gas a chamfer end on at the moment but will be ordering a threadmill end for it and also getting a larger version with a key cutter.

another project im working on is a new rear end for the Zerode G1/G2 frames. although approaching 10 years old they have a cult like following due to how well they ride. I have a few guys who want to modernize them with larger wheels. Im working on new rear ends to convert them to either 27.5 or 29 wheels.

heres some of the geometry to make sure it will all work well still

Thank you!

heres another project i did earlier this year. i was contacted by a guy who wanted some custom parts for his pelican tool case. he wanted a shelf to set the foam inserts on so i made these for him

N6EbuL0.jpg

he then bonded carbon fiber into them. along with some other small bits i made this is what it looked like all together

gzJVuYr.jpg

Vd4PIff.jpg

he wanted to add some more to it so i just made up these for him a few weeks ago

invbDkx.jpg

they mount on the top and he has these bags he had custom made hand from them. looks like this when its all together.

heres another one of my bikes. it was my dads originally from the 70s. its a Schwinn Le Tour. ive always called it my frankebike. when i was about 16 i stripped the frame raw, made it single speed and put the rear brake under the bottom bracket. i was pretty limited on funds so that was it.

p5pb9734455.jpg

it hadnt gotten ridden in a few years but last year i decided to bring it back to life. this could have been done easy but ofcourse i had to go way overboard with it like everything else. it started out by getting some carbon forks. first problem is the frame is from the 70s so the headtube was made for a 1" threaded steerer tube and this fork was a 1 1/8" threadless steerer. i was able to ream out the bearing cups a bit and machine custom ones to fit the steered in. next problem was its was for the modern wheelsize of 700c or 29" where as this frame is made for 28" wheels. i could have easily ran the original wheels but my goal was to modernize this vintage frame and i wanted to get rid of the anchors for wheels. the back wheel literally weighs 10lbs. i made some custom dropouts to fit a 29" QR rear wheel. it also widened the back end from the orginal 120mm to a more modern 135mm spacing and let me run a modern deraileur.

p5pb15793292.jpg

i should have been happy with it at this point but i just for some reason had to take it one step farther. by one step i mean i had to go to the moon with it. I decided i wanted big tires on it and some suspension up front.

i had these quite rare forks from around 2000. they are originally for 26 wheels and provided 120mm of travel. i modified them to have 40mm of travel and they have a spacer so they dont bottom out on the 29" wheel.

p5pb14085972.jpg

p5pb17071993.jpg

I then came across a pretty killer deal on some Carbon ENVE wheelset. this was great but the rear wheel was a 142mm spacing and a 12mm axle. i cut the rear brace off the rear end that orignally was where the brake mounted. that didnt matter as the bike will have disc brakes and i figured having a beefer 12mm axle will keep the rear end much stiffer then the tiny little brace ever did. that brings us to where its currently at

p5pb17307519.jpg

p5pb17307520.jpg

p5pb17334947.jpg

Its been sitting like this for months now. i need to get some other stuff finished so i can get back to this and get it done

What's your IG BTW? Mines in my sig.

I ran/played with Fadals for almost 10 yrs. at various job shops. Almost bought my own a few times, but still not sure if I want to give up the shop space.

First shot at the custom linkage didn't go well. First op went good then second op went horribly

Ended up crashing my brand new sandvik body and tip into the vise and both are shot. So pissed at myself

The one good news is I got some really good deals on some new sandvik tools off eBay. Will be on this week. Got a a couple thousand bucks worth of stuff for a couple hundred so very stoked on that.

The linkage is going thru a new makeover as we realized we needed to make some changes anyways 13e3ffbcccdd7ffa1053ca9718334b2d.jpg8098957eea9c4017211db20bfb07b2ae.jpg4179efec2f902c4eabde2a55ae472e44.jpg080c096a19cc1b057404e41c42e65004.jpgf5b26e75471721aeff7be7d31df062fd.jpg

Thanks man! I love the Yeti. It's been a great bike. Was too good of a deal to pass up from a friend of a friend. It replaced my Banshee Spitfire.

some of my tooling is trickling in
got this facmill for $20. one bolt is broke. ill run it with 3 inserts for now instead of 6 but we have an edm shop that can take it out easily. it came with a different holder but it was very beat up so i put it on this one i had laying around. need to order a new one that is a little shorter. The cutter is a Sandvik R390 2.5" diameter

tPGNIFK.jpg

got this lot of capto tools for $40. i only wanted the one in the front. its a R790 38mm diameter and is in very good shape. the other 3 are all beat up pretty bad.

DVWQpF7.jpg

Got 2 off these for $100 total. they are solid carbide shanks for the replaceable tips. same as the other one i smashed but these are pure carbide. usually $600 a piece. waiting for my shrink fit holders to come in for them.

37Xig46.jpg

working on the latest version for the guy i make the toolbox stuff for. had some updates he wanted by the end of the month for toolbox wars. these are the side tray supports. i need to cut a slot in the end so he can bond a carbon arm in them still.

fna96wo.jpg

9WKjxyF.jpg

now personally i thought these would be much cooler as one big aluminum piece so i surprised him with this and he loved it so making some tweaks to it and then doing a full set of them aswell.

and heres just a random part i did earlier these week at work that was kinda cool

mmmm...delrin!

Man, that adapting clearing! Back in the day we'd rough everything with a 3" shell for aluminum in one pass and then finish.

Owner would never stand for all those roughing passes.

it depends on the part but those pockets werent big enough to justify it. its awesome how fast you can run an endmill with these adaptive toolpaths. i usually rough with a 1/2 at 150ipm and 6500rpm. id go faster but these older fadals dont like to

Right on. I have the 10k in my 3016, but also have the air/oil injection instead of the grease pack. Stupid $40 pressure sensor was giving me grief.
