Calibrating a split beam torque wrench?

I have access to a calibration tool, I just need to know how to make the adjustment on the wrench itself.

I've done lots of click style torque wrenches in the past, but this split beam stuff is new to me. All I can see in the way of potential adjustment are two screws on the side. And removing the end-cap on the handle of the torque wrench doesn't lend me enough visibility to tell what goes on and make my decision from there.

Sending it in... It's just a matter of principle. I can't do it. I'm the kind of person who needs to know how things work and need to do it myself. I hate relying on other people because then I become dependent. If something happens to them or their service I'm SOL. That and I have god awful luck with shipping companies I'm sure some of you can understand where I'm coming from on this :lol:

Anyways.... Here's a picture of the wrench in question. Note the screws covered in some sort of glue

Any ideas? I'd rather go into this with some sort of idea of what I'm doing vs. making bogus adjustments and having "down time" trying to fix it

I should also say that I'm making a big assumption with this in that the screws on the side have something to do with adjustments. I'm not sure if that's true or not

Have you checked it yet? Do you know if it even needs to be calibrated?

I would check it first before messing with it. I have some pretty aged torque wrenches that are still well within spec.

And the design of split beams even eliminates some of the things that can cause most clicker torque wrenches to go out of spec, like the tension on the coiled spring in a normal clicker.

I sat down and started playing with it today. Actually it's braindead easy. I think this was the easiest calibration I've ever done!

See link on the tutorial here

@Loscaldazar yessir that's me!

@SMKS Yeah I checked it. Read a fair bit low out of the box. Would click at 87ftlbs when set to 100. Wasn't worth the hassle trying to send it back to the manufacturer to get it warrantied
