Calling all painters

Hey guys, I know this has been covered to some extent so I am sorry but I feel the need to ask it again:

I am using ACE Hardware, Rustoleum and Lacquer thinner. Can you guys tell me what the mix ratio would be and should I used hardner? I do want as much of a glossy finish as I can get. I also don't want to wait 10 years for it to cure. I'm using a Husky HVLP gun from How Depot.

Also, what is a good regulated spraying pressure based on your recommended mixture ratio's? I've used PPG and Dupont antomotive finishes for years but this is my first attempt with this stuff.

If you look at the back of the Rustoleum can, it'll probably tell you to use Acetone rather than lacquer thinner and give you a ratio.

I just sprayed a box the other day and I think the pressure was at or near 50 psi in a HVLP gun.

It has a nice finish and I sprayed the second coat about 15 minutes after the first. I also thinned it slightly more after the first coat.

I am just wondering because in doing some research I am finding people are doing this with mixtures everywhere from 10% to 50-60%. It seems it's all over the chart.

I started off at 8:1, then changed it to 4:1 after some testing prior to hitting the box. I probably ended up at 30% for the first coat and 40% for the second coat.

I also have a wood burner in the garage. I could crank it up after spraying to get some good dry heat to help with drying and curing.

I think I'll try your mixes to start with. Hopefully somewhere between 10-30% it will work out the way I want it to.

I used a 4-1 mix with mineral spirits.
