How about you tell the Nazi HOA to **** it,

In case you missed it earlier, he is the nazi HOA.

Ummm... I have to admit something... I'm on the HOA board. DOH! We've had the board for 3+ years now. Everyone wants to complain about the community and "infractions", but no one actually wants to be on the board. I'm just trying to help out. And I don't want to be like the select military officers I detested and the managers I still detest by practicing "Do as I say, not as I do."

If he's on the board then he should be like ol Barny frank and use the collections to pay for storage under the reason "Its for the good of the community". Then if anyone complains fine their ***.

Chill HT, did you not know that each homeowner agrees at time of purchase to abide by the written rules? What gives one person the right to change their mind. Don't like it, move.

I was president the Architectual Control Committee (ACC) in my new subdivision for the first 5 years of its existance. It was a difficult job because people do not care. In a new community, when everyone was buisy with their new houses, people do not like to hear they need permission to do something although they signed an agreement at closing to do just that.

I actually had to have our HOA pay for a driveway for a home who refused to put one in after 4 years of letters, begging and threats. That money was liened against his house. That was 3 years ago and since then, our property values rose, he moved out, our money was returned with interest after the house was sold and a nice family moved in and the house looks 200% better.

Moral of the story: Follow the rules and no one gets hurt :Gun1:

C'mon now you've seen the answer right on this forum, can you say "Garage Condo". I seem to remember a fairly nice one on this sight.

Seriously, i just went throught the same type storage issue, but no HOA. I just extended the fence forward along side the home to encompass the camper out of view. This worked great till I added another camper to the mix(restored 1962 Shasta Compact). So I just went ahead and bought a new home with enough interior parking for 7 autos. THis worked better than any other solution.

Look at the movable planter boxes that restaurants use for sidewalk dining to create a screen between the tables and the road. That would do the trick. Although, my vote would be to find a nice campsite to park it at during the summer and a storage place during the winter. The carcover idea also looks pretty OK in most neighborhoods. If you take an objective viewpoint and visit neighborhoods you find attractive, I think you will find the ones you like do not have recreational vehicles/ cars/ motorcycles parked outside.

Sawzall for the tongue. Then, when you need to use it, weld it back on. This is Garage journal, after all. (Actually, if you could make a removable tongue, on the same principle as a hitch, you might be onto something.)
That, or a Klingon Cloaking Device. (Park it further back on the property, and something behind that is close to the same color to hide it)

I hate to offer a practical solution in such a thread, but how about a deal like the Fulton swing-away tongue kit?

I got an image of the camper from a Google search (
Niagara%20Explorer%20Signature.JPG
). It is more than 1' too long for my garage, and it doesn't have one of those pivoting hitches.

I have three 5-gallon planters with large plants at the edge of the driveway to create some sort of blind. They are deciduous, but I move the camper further back on my lot in the winter so it's behind the kids' playset and out of sight. They all seemed to die as soon as I bought them last year, but they are coming back.

I do not wish to pay for storage, no matter how "cheap" it is.

"The Man" is keeping me down!!! I don't want to take up all the space in my garage with this thing, even if I could make it fit. And the ******* bunnies are not allowed to leave the bedroom. I think I'll just continue with the movable flower bed and purchase some evergreen plants/tree/bushes or ornamental grass.

Okay, the requirements are becoming obvious.
1. The travel trailer is too long for the garage by 1 foot. The trailer does not have a swinging tongue.
RE 1. A picture/vendor was identified. You can install one or have on installed.

2. You are part of the HOA board and putting it on the side of the house is not allowed. No fence is allowed. Hiding it behind the the bushes will work for a while.

3. The ******* bunnies are not allowed out of the bedroom so distractions aren't going to work.

4. You don't want the trailer in the garage anyway.

5. You don't want to pay for storage.

Okay, I've got a couple of PRACTICAL solutions:
1. Change the hitch to a folding style and put it in the garage. Pull it out when you need to use the garage for something and put it back afterward.
2. Store it at a friend's house that has less stringent rules.
3. Carefully review the rules for the HOA and look for loopholes. Can you have a tool shed in the back yard? What are the maximum dimensions?
4. Petition the HOA for a fence. Tell them that you are putting a pool in the back yard. In Oklahoma you MUST have a fence around the pool.
5. Look at ways to get the rules changed. You can't be the only person that wants to have a hobby vehicle around.
6. Sell the trailer and give up.
