No forked ends on it -- has cups like you would insert between a coil spring to spread them.Ball joint separator?
Not reversible, 9" long, and that is a 5/8" diameter bolt. Agree on coil spring but why....?Kind of looks like it might be reversible and maybe fit a coil spring. Can you put a size reference in the pic? It does look a lot like a ball joint separator.
I remember using the old twist in spacers--never used that type.It is a spring spreader for coil springs MOOG used to sell them so you could put in plastic spring spacers they sold. It was a way to get height back in to a chassis with out putting in new springs. I haven't seen the spacers in many years. The sprig spacers used to come in blister pack cards as an assortment for sellers. I found some NOS on Ebay to show what they looked like. The tools was not always needed but sometimes you had to have one.
I put a set of those in my '69 Impala. Even with that beast jacked way up, putting a pair into each rear spring was a real effort, would have loved to have that tool, and known what it was.I remember using the old twist in spacers--never used that type.
