Wanted to see if any of you guys can identify this box? Might have to go pick this up, although it's quite a bit of a drive from me.

It's listed for really cheap. I already emailed the seller, since they didn't list a phone number, hoping to hear back soon. Probably wouldn't be able to go get it until tomorrow though, because of the drive...

If it wasn't 3 hours away, I'd have already driven over to the house! Hoping to hear back tonight or tomorrow, and I'll be driving out ASAP.

I hate it when people don't post a phone number

I know what you mean, Feel like you wont do it quick enough, bad economy might be on you side? Not many people looking to buy extra anything.

Fingers crossed it didn't sell, and they actually check their email tonight. If I hear from them later, I'll offer them more just to hold it until tomorrow morning.

I really wonder what the top box is. I want to say snap on 33" wide, but the front handle placement is not correct. Too bad they didn't post a picture with the front cover open.

OP, I hope you get it. Looks like a nice, interesting box at a really good price.

Well, the lady selling it called me at 8:45 this morning, and I told her I'll definitely buy it for the asking price, and if anyone else comes by to call me and let me make a counter offer. I told her I'd be on the road within 30 minutes, and called again at 9:15am to make sure everything was a go (didn't answer, so I left a voicemail).

Drove the 3 hours out there to arrive and be told by her drunk husband someone had showed up at 9am and bought the roller box. To say I was extremely pissed would be an understatement. I told them it would have been nice to have called me back after it sold so I wouldn't have wasted my day in a truck with nothing to show for it. I was just about to leave, then decided to ask what he wanted for the top box, he said to make an offer, and in the end loaded it up for $35.

It's in extremely good shape (just has some old tape glue marks on it), and I'm just going to clean and polish it up and try to sell it for enough to break even on the gas money I wasted going out there. I am SO glad I borrowed the girlfriend's little Nissan PU instead of driving my old Ford diesel all the way out there.

Time for a beer.

Wow, man that *****. Some people just have no respect for others time.

Then again sounds like you got a good top box out of the deal. What brand is the top box, are their any markings on it?

I'll never understand people like that nowadays, especially with how connected everything is. If they didn't want to call, they could've just sent me a text, and I would've turned right around and been glad they at least had that much respect for someone driving across most of the state looking to do business with them.

Can't find any markings, just some old glue where labels were. Here's some pics now that it's unloaded.
It measures 31"x15" and 17" tall with the top closed.

Most of the drawers have foam liners in them with cutouts for different tools, so the paint in the drawers looks almost new.

Shouldn't take more than a day to clean it all up and get it shining like new (going to sand and polish the side handles as well).

Its ***** that they did that, especially when you had the long drive and let them know you were prepared to pay more than prospective buyers. I would have been pissed too!! But you did the right thing, stayed calm, and got a great deal on a very nice toolbox. I cant say with any certainty, but it looks like it may be a Waterloo to me..I could be wrong. Whatever the case, I like it! I would consider keeping it. It may pay for itself more times over with use, than with selling it.

I bought it to sell and break even, but there's that little voice in the back of my head that sounds a lot like you. Even driving back, I was thinking that the minute I sell it, a good roller cab will come along it would be perfect on top of. We'll see, maybe I'll list it a little high and see what happens.

As I said before, I'll never understand some people. For how quickly he settled on $35 for the top box, I wouldn't be surprised if that roller went for less than they were asking as well, when I was driving out there with $200 to make sure it would be mine.
I guess you just can't expect much from someone who was drinking a glass of straight vodka all morning.

You drove too far to get shafted, which blows, but you got a nice deal on a nice vintage top chest.

Things could be worse~ :)

Glad you at least got the top chest, I'd be tempted to keep it as well for the long run payoff.

Now lets keep an eye on the "Vintage tool boxes" thread for some lucky guy with the roller :willy_nil

Wow very nice, a KR61 for $35. Great deal!!!! Plus that bit of fuel for the 3hr trip. :lol_hitti

It looked like a 31" snap on, but the front handle placement threw me. From the pics you posted, I can now see that they removed the two front handles and replaced them with that "improved" center handle. Not to mention the missing badge.

Enjoy it, those are nice boxes. Like a stretched out KRA59
