Hi, I suppose pole barns are the most economical to erect? Are they as good as a regular garage? Ideally a 30'x40' seems it would be ideal. Thinking 3-4 cars with a few feet for stuff. It would be even better to have the ability to add a loft space for home furnishings & stuff storage too! I'm thinking 6" of concrete for floor? not sure I'd ever add a lift though that would be terrific too. We're here in NY so I have to worry about frost too. Whatever I get/do, I don't want mice gettin in!!haha

I have a 40 X 80 pole barn/shop. I sealed the bottom of all the corrugated siding with a 1X2 cedar strips. Then I put down some 3/4 drain rock over the top of this and sealed the entire lower edge of the metal. Inside I took a few cans of the spray foam and filled the void at the bottom of each panel. No critters of any kind in my shop now..........

I second that....rat guard is the way to go... It's just a piece trim made to cover the open end of the ridges in your metal sheeting... mine came standard no extra charge.

Yup same here, rat guard and then spray foamed the voids in the metal along the bottom. They do make a foam strip that is made to fit along the backside of the metal at the base but I don't know how much it costs...
